[AI] Convention titled 'Accessible and Inclusive Digital India (AADI): IS-17802 Putting standard into Action' during International Purple Fest on 12th Jan,2024

2023-12-26 Thread Sai Bhagat
Dear Access Indians,

Wishing you all a festive season filled with joy and anticipating an exciting
new year!

Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is happy to announce an
important convention titled 'Accessible and Inclusive Digital India (AADI):
Putting IS-17802 Standard into Action’ . This event will be held on 12th
January, 2024 during the much-anticipated International Purple Fest 2024 in
the vibrant setting of Goa.

In today's digital era, ensuring equal access to information and technology for
everyone, regardless of their abilities, is more crucial than ever. The Indian
government has taken a significant stride with the development of the IS-17802
standard, a comprehensive set of requirements for enhancing ICT accessibility.
AADI will provide an insightful overview of this standard, shed light on
various government initiatives, and explore inclusive and accessible design,
charting the course for ICT accessibility in India.

Why attend AADI?

  1. Learn about the new Indian ICT accessibility standard and how to comply
with it.
  2. Grasp the process of accessible and inclusive ICT development.
  3. Gain insights into the future of ICT accessibility in India.
  4. Engage in an open forum to discuss ICT accessibility and inclusion.

Who should be part of this convention?

  1. ICT Developers, designers, system architects, and software testers
committed to delivering accessible products and services.
  2. Policymakers and leaders shaping accessibility policies.
  3. Procurement officers responsible for sourcing ICT products and services.
  4. End-users, including people with disabilities, passionate about
accessible ICT.

Our aim is not only to introduce and popularize the Indian ICT accessibility
standard but also to kickstart crucial discussions around the accessibility of
ICT product and services. Highlights include discussions on accessibility in
e-governance, the role of the standard in RPDA rules, and correct
implementation approaches. Expert inputs from standard drafting members, legal
professionals, and domain experts will enrich our discussions.

To register for the convention AADI, please visit the URL below:

https://forms.office.com/r/rfKde3dvCj

Note: The registration form is exclusively for AADI. All convention attendees
must also create their account and register on the official Purple Fest portal
given below https://purplefest.goa.gov.in/.

International platforms like Purple Fest play a pivotal role in bringing our
accessibility standard, IS-17802, closer to implementors and beneficiaries.
Save the date - 12th January 2024, 10:00 AM onwards, at the Multipurpose Hall,
Directorate of Art & Culture, Panjim, Goa.

Interested participents can get in touch with below contact points for more
details

Mr. Shubhanshu Gupta - +91 8055 681 060 shubhans...@cdac.in

Braille won’t work on notes.

Notes are subject to degradation passing through so many hands. When they
become even slightly softened, the dots would have significantly faded.

RE: [AI] How to know good brands and latest trends

2023-12-26 Thread Yamuna Jivana Dasa (Yoganathan Khandoo)
Amar,

I believe sighted people’s preferences change very quickly as they “view”
things on-line. We cannot really keep up with our wives in that regard. Fact is
we may even fail to realize how much we do not know by not seeing their world
change as they daily feast their eyes through the various digital shopping
world!

Personally I won’t try to chase up. If you can’t beat them, join them. “I want
to get something you really like or need, so tell me and we’ll do this together
for your birthday” is an example of how I would start that conversation.

She does all sorts of shopping from brands be it online or offline including
clothing. And I am on the other hand a kind of a person who has his outlets and
brands fixed and don't like taking too much of pain to shop!

Yep-have been trying simpler things-as I know I can mess things up when it
comes to all this :)

Avoid online shopping since determining clothing sizes is hard. Each brand has
its own size so a size 7 in brand x is different from a size 7 in brand y.

Come to think of it, how about gifting something that is easier like a

Amar,

Each brand has its own influencers though watching their videos will usually
not yield much useful information. How does your wife track her brands? Does
she, for instance watch a lot of short videos???

Your favorite search engine of choice would yield you the top brands in
whatever category of product you want. If it is clothing, look for seasonal
collections. I think that brand is Tommy hillfigure. See

Just to be able to gift something well to her and to be able to relate with new

RE: [AI] How to know good brands and latest trends

2023-12-26 Thread Yamuna Jivana Dasa (Yoganathan Khandoo)
May be y’all will find this strange, Amar and all on this thread, but here goes
how I do it.

I usually don’t buy my wife gifts, and I don’t expect her to buy me gifts.
Instead we express our desires to each other about what we desire to have, and
we work together to get it.

This working together, planning towards each others needs I find even more
rewarding because it’s a collective effort that is sustained for us both. Not
only the day the gift comes is it a nice exchange. That exchange happens from
the moment one of us says “I wish I could have this thing”. The moment the
other partner says, ok, let’s save up for it, the chase begins to satisfy the
spouce.

Anyway just my ways, each for his own, but just in case someone wants to
consider this as an interesting addition to your nuptial fun with your sighted
or even blind spouce, …
