Subject: [AI] Inquiry Regarding Hindi OCR for Windows

Hello all,
I am writing to seek your guidance on a specific issue I am facing
with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tools, particularly those
supporting Hindi language on Windows.
Currently, I have a scanned PDF document in Hindi that requires OCR
processing on a PC. While I am aware of the capabilities of ABBYY
FineReader, unfortunately, it does not support the Hindi language.
Additionally, I have explored various OCR apps on Android that do
support Hindi. However, the challenge I am encountering is that when I
use these Android apps to OCR a PDF, the formatting, including tables
and lists, is significantly altered. The resulting text also undergoes
changes in position.
On the other hand, ABBYY FineReader on Windows maintains the original
formatting but lacks support for Hindi language OCR.
So please let me know if there are any recommended Hindi OCR tools
specifically designed for Windows that provide accurate results
without compromising the original formatting of the document. Your
insights and recommendations would be highly valuable in helping me
find a suitable solution for this requirement.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I look forward to
hearing from you and benefiting from your expertise on this matter.
Best regards,
Yogesh Goyal

Most of the nationalised banks have signed MOU with NHFDC for MSME
loans, but, unfortunately it is upto 5-6 laks. I am not aware about MOU

If the beneficiary want to get MSME loan he has to mandatorily obtain

I have mainly 3 following points regarding it:
* Google Accessibility Scanner App: From this App developer can know the
basic accessibility issues of his/her Android app. It does not have all the
required features for us that's why I have already given feedback to Google
Disability Answer Desk to make it easier, advanced accessibility issue
detector, user friendly for Disabled, availability for PC and much more.
You should also give your feature requests or report any bug regarding any
Google Product like Google Lookout, TalkBack, TTS, Voice Access and YouTube
etc to them as I always say When companies get a lot of feedback on the
same feature or bug that time companies work faster. I am giving below the

* Service Provider Accessibility Team: I read somewhere that every service,
especially Digital service should be Accessible for Persons With
Disabilities in India regardless Private or Government. For it they should
have an Accessibility Answer Desk for their Disabled Users so any
accessibility issue regarding their service can be notified and fixed
easily.

* Service Provider own Accessibility Features: I believe that some big tech
companies like Meta: Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, Twitter/X App and
Telegram etc should have their own Screen Reader, OCR, Magnifier, Colour
contrast, Live Transcribe and others Accessibility Features for all the 21
Disabilities. These companies can provide these features because they have
enough resources. If they provide their own Accessibility Features,
Accessibility issues may not come frequently like now, that time they can
not play blame game on the behalf of third party Screen Reader or
Accessibility service and if we face any accessibility issue by using any
third party software that time we can use their own accessibility feature
may be we will not get any issue to use that even though if we face any
issue so we can directly point out to them because that time their
accessibility features are also not working.

RE: [AI] Auto-expansion of Context Menu Items in Windows Laptop

2024-01-28 Thread Yamuna Jivana Dasa
Hi Harshit,

Before I say anything else, unfortunately I do not know of a solution to your
automatic expansion of sub-menus problem. But I have tried to ask our good old
friend Google Bard about it to see what he? She? It? Could suggest. May be you
could find some potential solutions here, although some of it may clearly turn
out useless. Let me know if you managed to find any solutions from this below.

Yamuna Jivana Dasa wrote:
When I press application key or Shift+F10 on any icon/file to open its context
menu and press up/down arrow to go to a specific context menu item, then if any
item has sub-menu, it expands automatically without pressing right arrow. This
creates a problem using a screen-reader if I do not want to go to that specific
sub-menu because I am not able to return back to the main list even after
pressing left arrow.

Google Bard responded:
I understand the frustration you're facing with context menus automatically
expanding submenus, making it difficult to navigate using a screen reader.
While I can't provide a universal solution, here are some potential approaches
and tips:

1. Check for Accessibility Settings:

Windows:
Navigate to Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use.
Look for options related to context menu behavior or keyboard navigation.
macOS:
Open System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard.
Explore settings for menu navigation or full keyboard access.
Third-party apps:
Check their settings for accessibility features or custom keyboard shortcuts.
2. Explore Screen Reader Navigation Commands:

NVDA: Use NVDA+Shift+Down Arrow to navigate within a submenu and NVDA+Up Arrow
to return to the parent menu.
JAWS: Use Insert+Down Arrow to explore a submenu and Insert+Up Arrow to go back.
VoiceOver: Swipe left or right with two fingers to navigate between menu items
and levels.
3. Consider Alternative Navigation Methods:

Mouse: If possible, use the mouse to directly click the desired menu item,
avoiding submenu expansion.
Touchscreen: Swipe or tap to access different menu levels.
4. Seek Software Updates:

Keep your operating system and applications up-to-date, as they may include
fixes for accessibility issues.
5. Report the Issue:

If the problem persists, contact the software developers or accessibility teams
to report the issue and request a fix.
Additional Tips:

Use the Esc key to close a context menu entirely if you get stuck.
Practice navigating menus with your screen reader in a safe environment to
familiarize yourself with the commands.
Consider using a screen reader training guide or online resources for more
specific instructions.
I hope these suggestions help you navigate context menus more effectively. Feel
free to provide more details about your specific setup (operating system,
screen reader, applications) if you need further assistance.

Yamuna Jivana Dasa wrote:
The problem I am facing is using Windows 10, with both Jaws and NVDA as
screen-readers, but the problem seems to be something in the operating system
which expands sub-menus automatically when landing on it using the up and down
arrows. Is there anything in Windows 10 that might be changed to prevent
automatic expansion of menus with sub-menus? The normal behaviour is that you
have to press the right arrow or enter to expand the sub-menu for it to expand.
Is there any setting in Windows that may have been accidentally changed from
default behaviour with context menu sub-menus?

Google Bard responded:
You're right, automatic submenu expansion shouldn't occur in Windows 10 by
default. Here are some things you can try to diagnose and potentially fix the
issue:

Settings to check:

Ease of Access Center:
Go to Control Panel > Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use.
Ensure "Turn on Sticky Keys" and "Use MouseKeys" are off.
Under "Change how keyboard shortcuts work", ensure "Underline keyboard
shortcuts in Start Menu and Desktop menus" is off.
Mouse Properties:
Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse.
On the Buttons tab, ensure "Double-click speed" is set to a comfortable level
and not too fast.
Power Options:
Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
Choose your active power plan and click Change plan settings.
Click "Change advanced power settings".
Expand "USB settings" and then "USB selective suspend setting".
Set it to Disabled for both battery and plugged-in modes.
Other steps:

Restart Windows: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary software
glitches.
Scan for malware: Malware can sometimes interfere with system behavior. Run a
full system scan with your antivirus software.
Create a new user profile: Create a new user profile and see if the issue
persists there. This can help diagnose if the problem is specific to your
current user profile.
System File Checker (SFC): Open a Command Prompt as administrator and run sfc
/scannow. This will scan your system for corrupted system files and attempt to
repair

[AI] Auto-expansion of Context Menu Items in Windows Laptop

2024-01-28 Thread Harshit Lohia
Dear List Members,
When I press application key or Shift+F10 on any icon/file to open its
context menu and press up/down arrow to go to a specific context menu
item, then if any item has sub-menu, it expands automatically without
pressing right arrow. This creates problem if I do not want to go to
that specific sub-menu because I am not able to return back to the
main list even after pressing left arrow.
Can anyone please suggest a solution?

Thanks & Regards
Harshit Lohia
