Re: [AI] hearty congratulations to mr. karan singhania
Hello Karan, It’s Steven from New York. I just wanted to write and say congratulations on your accomplishments! I wish you the best of luck at college and beyond! The lines Mukesh Jain wrote are very touching indeed! I’ll always keep your email in my inbox to read it from time to time! May the pain you have known and conflict you have experienced Give you the strength to walk through life Facing each new situation with courage and optimism. Always know that there are those whose love and understanding Will always be there, even when you feel most alone. May you discover enough goodness in others To believe in a world of peace. May a kind word, a reassuring touch, a warm smile be yours Every day of your life, And may you give these gifts as well as receive them. Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending. Teach love to those who know hate, And let that love embrace you as you go into the world. May the teaching of those you admire become part of you, So that you may call upon them. Remember, those whose lives you have touched And who have touched yours are always a part of you, Even if the encounters were less than you would have wished. It is the content of the encounter that is more important than it's form. May you not become too concerned with material matters, But instead place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart. Find time in each day to see the beauty and love in the world around you. Realize that each person has limitless abilities, But each of us is different in our own way. What you may feel you lack in one regard May be more than compensated for in another. What you feel you lack in the present May become one of your strengths in the future. May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility. Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience. May you find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself, And not be dependent on another’s judgment of your accomplishments. May you always feel loved. I have always loved this poem because it beautifully expresses my wishes for you. may god bance him lots of success, happiness and prosperity in his life. i wish him all the best. thanks, -- Regards, Mukesh jain Email: mukesh.jai...@gmail.com Skype: mukeshja Mob: 09977165123 Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you. Re: [AI] Moderator: Re: PNB CREDIT CARD FACILITY TO BLIND CUSTOMERS
Hello, I’m not sure if this is what you are talking about. Here in the US, I know that Bank of America offers a service whereby customers can put their photo on their credit card for extra security. So, when you use your credit card to pay for something, they can see whether the photo on the card is you. However, I think having your photo on your credit card is really unusual. Most businesses just trust you, or just ask for a photo ID card. Credit cards in the US also have PINs, but they are only used when borrowing money from the card at the ATM. Now, the tragedy of the story is as follows. Firstly, photo credit cards should be issued for all and not only for blind. I had suggested this to RBI committee about four years back, along with the suggestion that a PIN like ATM debit card be also prescribed for credit cards which the customer should be able to change. However, said suggestions did not find favor, supposedly due to the fact no such things are done in western countries for credit cards and so, Monkeys that we are, would not be able to implement all these things. I am glad in your case they at least gave photo card. Secondly, this individual victory would not be translated into general practice across the banks BY DEFAULT. Such is the system here that everyone has to wage a lonely crusade to AVAIL the due rights. Interestingly enough RBI has issued an advisory making various ombudsman directives as general directives to banks. But this practice of giving photo credit cards to VI, if otherwise eligible, would BE so made at a future date, I am not sure. Regards If you believe that there is a God, a God that made your body, and yet you think that you can do anything with that body that's dirty, then the fault lies with the manufacturer. --Lenny Bruce (Rajesh Asudani) Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India Nagpur 09420397185 O: 0712 2806676 Res: 0712 2591349 -Original Message- From: accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in [mailto:accessindia-boun...@accessindia.org.in] On Behalf Of Rahul Gambhir Sent: Friday, June 04, 2010 6:41 PM To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Subject: Re: [AI] Moderator: Re: PNB CREDIT CARD FACILITY TO BLIND CUSTOMERS Hello all, This Circular is a result of a 6 months long crusade held between PNB, and banking ombudsman. Last year I filed a complaint with RBI banking ombudsman office. In March 2010 PNB communicated through a letter to me that they will come out with a policy on the subject matter till 31st may. Last month PNB communicated through a letter to collect a global credit card, and requested to close the complaint from BO office. This credit card is similar to a normal VISA card but an additional feature is that they have prefixed my passport size photograph on the card. The amazing part of the story is that card has been issued to me on thumb impression. PNB has provided me with all the banking services, internet banking, debit card, and now this credit card, but all of the products took more than a year to be issued as all of the times I had to nock the dors of reserve bank . I am relief to know that now PNB has come out with a circular and fulfilled its commitment to banking ombudsman. Re: [AI] Problem with font in MS word
Hello Vamshi, When you say the same thing is happening when you are typing in Word, what do you mean? Do you mean that the font says 12, but when you write something it looks bigger? If this is the case, then perhaps the zoom is off. Go to the view menu and then to zoom. Confirm that it is set to 100%. This is just an idea. Hope it helps! [AI] Introduction from a new member!
Hello All, I just joined the list, and I thought I would write and introduce myself. My name is Steven. I’m a blind college student from New York. I am studying Psychology, but I also like history and literature. My hobbies are reading, listening to music, hanging out with friends, traveling and learning new things. I would like to make some new friends on here! My ancestors are Indian, and I’ve always wanted to visit the homeland. I would really like to come to India and volunteer in a school for the blind. Does anyone have any advice for me? I kind of saw myself going to Mumbai because it’s Mumbai, but I really don’t mind where I go. There are just so many schools all around India. Also, I don’t speak any Indian languages (only English and French). Do you think this would be a problem? Please help if you can. But also, I would just like to get to know everyone!
