[AI] Reading problem in nokia e 63x

2011-09-20 Thread Sumesh K S
Dear all,.

I have a friend who is using nokia e 63 with talks 5.03. He want to read
different types of books using it. But when he try to read a word document,
talks is reading contininusely only till the current screen. It stops at the
end of the currently displayed text. After that it is quite difficult to move
the focus to the next area. We have to press down arrow several times.

In case of notepad, from the reading point of view, it is reading well. But
once we stop reading the book and close it, it is impossible to go to that
location where we stopped, as the find option in word.
We tried html also. It is also reading but the navigation is difficult.

His requirements are:-
1 Read different kinds of books.
2. While reading check the spelling of difficult words,
3. After stopping in the middle go to the same place to read from there in the
next time. Some thing like book mark or find text.

I am also using e63 with talks 5.2 and I am able to read word documents with
out any problem. Also I can check the spelling and find the text on the way. Is
it because of the lower version of talks my friend is not able to read like
that? or is there any other different solution for that?

Please be kind enough to give your expert advice.
Thanking you,
Sumesh K S

Re: [AI] problem in reading PDF document

2010-03-05 Thread Sumesh K S

Dear friend,
Thank you very much for giving me the suggestions and the PDF to word
converter. Using Kurzweil it is possible to read the document. But the
problem is that it cannot give 100% accuracy especially while trying to read
the data arranged in a tabular format. The PDF to word converter also has
the same problem. Some times the colum and raw arrangement may distorted. It
will definitly result in reaching in a wrong conclusion. That will definitly
affect the profit of the company. So we are helpless with the converter
also.

Any how I am looking forward for a good solution.
Thank you again,
With best regards,

[AI] problem in reading PDF document

2010-03-04 Thread Sumesh K S
Dear Access Indians,

Could you please be kind enough to help me in solving the below mentioned
problem.

A company at Cochin is ready to employ few of my students. They are using a
software called Hotsoft. JAWS is working with out much difficulty in that.
But their final report is in PDF format. Using Adobe reader 9 I could read it
completely. the problem is that the report contains data arranged in a tabular
format. Even though it is arranged in a tabular format there is no table
actually. While trying to use a table command it says not in a table. JAWS is
not reading the data properly in the order in which it is arranged in the
document. I tried to read using PC cursor, JAWS cursor and invisible cursor.
Some times it reads the data arranged in the columns in the reverse order. That
is while using down arrow we can hear the column heading of the last column and
by pressing down arrow again it reads the second last column heading. To a
visually challenged person it is really difficult to findout the needed
information from that document. Is there any solution to the problem. If you
can help me in solving the problem that will help at least 2 VI people to
become employed and financially independent. I have a copy of that PDF file but
as it is not possible to sent attachment I am helpless to send. Those who want
to see the real problem that I am facing please be kind enough to ask me I will
surely send you that file.

Expecting a good solution from you.

Yours sincerely,

I really don't know, to what extent my opinion will help you in solving
your

problem. But you can suggest him few things.
1 If possible, ask him to divert his two landline numbers in third.
2 Buy a duel channel headset, that has the capability to carry the two
way

sound.
3 Ask him to connect its one end in the landline and the other in the CPU.
This will help him to work on computers freely with both the hands and
also
to attend calls. This will also help to listen to the customer from one
ear

and meanwhile he can listen to the screen reader that he might be using.

4 If he is unable to find a duel channel headset in the market, ask him to
contact AICB Rohini, as I know AICB has worked on the similar problem for
one of its student presently working in Amway working as a CCE. But I
don't

know to what extent this will help him out.
I am sorry if I have given any wrong information in my mail.

With regards,
Swati Sinha

Subject: [AI] How can we connect land phone with computer

Hello Dear friends,

Recently one of my friends got an offer to work in a call centre. The call
centre is equipped with 3 land phones and one computer. What he want do is
that,

1. To attend the phone calls arrive in all these phones,

2. To feed the information got from the incoming calls in the computer,

3. To search and find some information from the computer and convey it to
the person who is calling,

4. to search and find the phone numbers of some persons from the computer

5. To make outgoing calls to that numbers

6. To put one call on hold and take the one when an urgent call arrives
while attending another call which is not that much important.

The problem is that there is no device through which the land phones can
be

connected with the computer. So all the phones are to be operated manually
with out having any voice support. Not only that he has to operate the
computer using both of his hands, even while attending a phone call. So to
a
visually challenged person it is not at all an easy matter to coordinate
all

these works.

What we need is that,

1. A hardware device through which we can connect 3 or more landphones to
a

computer

2. A software through which we can do all the operations of the phones
like

dialing numbers, putting a call on hold and receiving another call, call
forwarding, etc.

This is not the problem of a single person. But all the visually
challenged

persons who seeks a job in a call centre which is equipped with above
mentioned facilities will have to face these difficulties. There are a lot
of medium level local call centers having the condition. Those persons who
are not having very good English and computer skills can also work in
these

centers. Because they are mostly using the regional local language. Highly
efficient persons can achieve their job in hi-tech call centers which are
equipped with the advanced technical devices. There may be some solution
to
these difficulties. But it may be an expensive one. But the majority of
the

visually challenged people are not having that standard of language and
other skills. But they would be very fluent in the local language which
can
be effectively utilized in the local call centers. So if we can find a
good

solution to the problem that will be a great help to a lot of VI people.
Even if some solution is available the local call centers may not become
ready to accept it if it is an expensive one. So they will be compelled to
take the decision to avoid appointing a visually challenged persons in
their

call centers. So the solution should be a less expensive one.

If any of you has some idea about such a hardware and software device
please

be kind enough to give me the information. If no such product is available
in the market, please take the necessary steps to motivate some companies
to

launch such a product.

Expecting your good response,

With best regards,

Sumesh K S
