 Dear friends,

SBI has decided to withdraw its internet banking service for visually
challenged customers on an exclusive platform
 https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbivc.html

Instead visually challenged customers will be given internet banking
 on the regular site https://www.onlinesbi.com

This will enable visually challenged customers to have access to all
banking transactions that are available for any other customers.

Also, the MIVKB (Multilingual Image Based Virtual Key Board) will not
be available for VC customers which exempts them from using the mouse
 for selecting the images.

The bank has made this announcement wide its circular No. :
 NBG/NBG-INB-INB/3/2013 - 14, dated Thursday,August 08,2013.

visually challenged customers who are currently using INB on the
exclusive site can now use the regular site https://www.onlinesbi.com

They have to visit their branch to avail full transaction rights.

The dedicated site will not be available from 31/10/2013. The
announcement about the same will be made on the dedicated site.

Block Quote
Satish Navale had been a radio buff and wanted to rule the airwaves.
To realise his dream, after completing graduation in 1995, this
visually challenged man with all programme schedules and other details
on his fingertips confidently approached Akashwani Pune to know about
his prospects of becoming a radio anchor, only to be told that the job
was not meant for a person with a disability like his.

I was told that as per the policy, they cannot hire a blind person
for that role, recalls Navale. Disappointed, Navale, then 22, wanted
to commit suicide. I grew up with this dream that shattered
instantly. However, I consoled myself and resolved not to give up, he
says.

Last month, 30-year-old Navale took over as the 'radio in-charge' at
Yaralavani community radio station in Jaliyal, 150 km from Sangli, and
is a known name among the listeners of 91.2 FM. He is probably the
only visually challenged person in the country who not only
coordinates and plans radio programmes but also hosts them.

Someone had advised me to study further and try making a career in
educational broadcasting, says Navale. So, after doing graduation
from Abasaheb Garware College (Pune), he pursued MA and MEd from the
University of Pune.

N V Deshpande, who founded Yaralavani around two years ago, says until
Navale came for the interview, he was not aware that the job seeker
was visually challenged. However, his knowledge about various radio
channels and the way they work was far superior than anybody Deshpande
knew. I had the confidence that his disability could be overcome with
technology. Within a month, he proved that my decision of hiring him
was right, says Deshpande, adding that Navale works without any
assistance.

Navale owes this knowledge to his obsession for radio. Since the age
of four, he says, he would listen to radio for around 16 hours a day.
I used to keep changing frequency after every 15-20 minutes or so.
The timing and duration of each and every programme was on my
fingertips, he says.

Prior to joining Yaralavani, Navale worked as an educational
researcher at University of Pune from 2008 to 2010. He then dabbled in
making e-learning modules for the visually challenged, which he
provided to various schools.

Talking about the initial challenges, Navale says being visually
impaired he had to work with softwares like Jaws and Tox. When you
use Jaws, the voice gets mixed with radio broadcasting. I tackled this
by using two headphones, he says. Navale also had to work on the
voice-level filter. On the radio mixer, he has made Braille-like
markings that can be felt with his fingers. With this, I can
recognise where the voice filter is located on the radio mixer and
accordingly I operate, he says, adding that with this kind of
technological adjustments any visually challenged person can work at
any radio station.

Along with playing Hindi and Marathi songs, the Yaralavani radio
station broadcasts live interactive programmes on social issues and
current events, moral stories, interviews of achievers, programmes on
English speaking and vocabulary, among others. He is on par with any
normal person and we don't make him feel special or different, says
Deshpande.

windowsTTS, a short storry!!!

Dear friends!!! commonly, all people are writing like, while using the
software, I found these all are the problems bla, bla, bla, isn't it?

so, here iam writing like a story, what all are the problem I have faced
since downloading and using this TTS .

before some days back, I also noticed one of the pailet, he is sachin
pailet released TTS in different language including Malayalam .

So, I was really curies about like a common visually impaired person, how
will be that TTS??,???

is it read all of the news papers??

not only that, it will support all of the Malayalam website witch is
available??

thinks are going like, I decided to download the file.

before downloading the file, accidentally I check the file size, O, my
goodness

it is 1.5.5 gb.

Whatever it is, I start downloading.

it took nearly two days because of my slow internet connection.

but, after around 97%it is not even downloading.

O, my god, what could be the reason, I started to thinking hardly.

while checking there website I understood, they have remove the file from
there server.

after that, I should have waite another some more days to download that
file.

this time, the blus of god, I have download the file successfully

after the sufferable download I have installed with more expectation.

wowed!!! amazing !!! after the installation, NVDA is started with
eloquence voice!!!

I tried all of the menus, desktop, internet explorer and, so, on.

but some time, I Heard one lady is speacking each of the item little bit,

for example If I will navigate in desktop she will announce in her sweety
voice like, desktop, space, M, Y, D, O, c, U, M, E, N, T, my document,
pathinonn of panthrandu, in malayalam.

I thought, what is this??

Y it is announcing all of the spelling of each of the menu and all of the
item in all over the system including internet aswell???

Does the eloquence voice also including with there package??

no, I have totally mistaken, MR. JAWS also working along with there TTS.

I quit the JAWS and tried once, O, dears, the result was really horrible

If we will perform one commands it will work after a long time.

Tried with internet explorer there also the same condition.

finally, I decided to uninstall the product, Y I should have this type of
waist keep in my system?

but unfortunately, iam not able to findout its uninstaller in my add or
remove program under control panel.

I thought once, Y they are developing this types of waits specially for
visually impaired people???

how much they have earned from this??

after the listening of this Malayalam TTS all of my family members are
asked me, is it our kerala transport bus???

because, its lagging very much.

So, dear friends thinks yourself, does we need this types of TTS really??

farther, how we can prevent this type of unwanted activities?

think yourself, and, do your best.

With regards your friend,

Timy.

Re: [AI] menus in m s word 2007

2011-09-19 Thread jeevaraj

Hi! Madam,

I would like to make one thing clear. Here in MS office2007, the menu bar is
entirely different then the MS office2003. In 2003, menus are arranged on
the menu bar such a way, if you press alt key, it will take you to the menu
bar there you can use your left arrow, or right arrow to go through the all
menus, after if you hit space bar or down arrow, it will opens the list of
options. Alternately you can use keyboard commands E-g: alt F, alt E,
for file menu and edit menu then it will brings you drop down menu which
consist of option of the specific menu

In MS office 2007, menu bar is known as ribbons: it split in to two parts,
as upper ribbon, lower ribbon. Generally the upper ribbon remains
constant it contains main menus of the application. E-g: home, insert,
page layout. You can access upper ribbon, by pressing alt and then using
arrow keys, but the lower ribbon is volatile, there for mainly it will
depend on the upper ribbon, it contains the options of the each menus, it
means it will displays the options of currently focused menu on upper
ribbon. To access MS office2007 menu bar sufficiently, first press alt, and
then use your left, or right arrow keys, to reach desire menu, and then just
use the tab, or shift tab keys to navigate through the options. E-g: if your
focus is on home menu on upper ribbon, then you will get options of Home
menu on lower ribbon. Alternately you can use key commands such as alt H,
alt N, alt P for home, insert, page layout. Please note: once you are in
the lower ribbon, you cannot access or switch to any other menus until you
reach the upper ribbon, and in MS office2007 you will find office sub menu
instead of file menu.

I hope it would help you some what, still if you need any help please come
on Skype.

With best regards

Hi,
My real problem is that, in word 2003, the menus could be focused
either by their commands such as alt+i for insert menu or alt+a for
table menu etc., or by pressing the rlight or left arrow after
focusing to the file menu. But now, neither the menus could be
focused through their commands nor they could be focused by pressing
the right arrow after focusing the file menu.
Hope now my doubt is clear.

alt+t then a to open autocorrect dialog. for normal layout view you can

[AI] Recommended Article By Jeevaraj: Education Loan Subsidy

2010-08-02 Thread Jeevaraj
Hi dear list,
Your friend, Jeevaraj, has recommended this article entitled 'Education Loan
Subsidy' to you.

Here is his/her remarks:
N/A

Education Loan Subsidy
Posted By iCBSE On July 31, 2010 (11:55 pm) In Loan
Education Loan Subsidy Scheme in India

Central Scheme to provide Interest Subsidy for the period of moratorium on
educational loans taken by students from economically weaker sections from
schedule banks under the educational loan scheme of the Indian Banks
Association.

The Central Scheme to provide interest Subsidy (CSIS) for the period of
moratorium on educational loans taken by students from economically weaker
sections from schedule banks under the educational loan scheme of the Indian
Banks' Association (IBA) was circulated by this Ministry to all scheduled
member banks of the IBA vide this Ministry's letter of even number dated
25.05.2010, a copy of which is also available on this Ministry's website at
www.education.nic.in. The Scheme is based solely on income criteria and not
social background. Modalities of implementation of the Scheme of Interest
Subsidy are inbuilt in the Scheme as circulated by this Ministry vide its
letter of even number dated 25.05.2010.

A copy of the presentation made by Canara Bank is enclosed. For further details
and related issues regarding procedure for implementation of the interest loan
subsidy scheme and reimbursement of claims under the Scheme as well as
monitoring of the Scheme, you are requested to kindly contact Shri G.M
Narsareddy , General Manager or Shri M.A Nayagam, Asstt General Manager. Canara
Bank, Head office, 112, Jayachanarajendra Road, Bangalore- 560 002.
As regards the issue of the list of recognised/approved courses/institutions
to Banks it is clarified that a fresh list is not necessary since the banks are
already sanctioning education loans through the IBA education loan Scheme.
Banks may follow the list maintained by them under the IBA Loan Scheme and in
case of doubt the Association of Indian Universities or MHRD could be
approached.

The Scheme covers interest subsidy in respect of student loans to professional
and technical courses which would enable the student to repay the loan advanced
by banks after the moratorium either through self-employment or
private/public/government employment. The scheme is effective from the academic
year 2009-10 and that loans disbursed in 2009-10 would be covered under the
scheme The scheme is an on-going scheme and the banks should claim
reimbursement of the interest subsidy component for the period during which the
scheme is operation from the Canara Bank, which is the nodal bank for this
Ministry. However, interest subsidy should be claimed under the scheme only if
subsidy was not being claimed by Banks against any other State Government
Scheme in case, some State Governments were simultaneously offering a similar
scheme of interest subsidy.

All banks are also requested to monitor the benefits accruing to different
categories of loanees under this Scheme. For better statistical reference and
collation of data, information pertaining to beneficiaries in respect of the
categories to which they belong, namely, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes,
Minorities, Other Backward Classes, and Others: alongwith sub-classification in
terms of gender, differently-abled/ persons with disabilities as well as the
disciplines/programmes of study, year of enrolment and programmes as also the
specialisation of study, institutions, locations, State-wise and Bank-wise, may
be maintained.

A Press Release issued by this Ministry is enclosed for information. When an
eligible student approaches the bank to seek the benefit of the Scheme of
Interest Subsidy, a voluntary disclosure could be obtained from the
student/parent with regard to the above statistical requirements (as far as
possible) and the same could then be furnished to Canara Bank at the time of
availing the claims. All banks are requested to kindly furnish claim statements
in the prescribed format ( as designed by Canara Bank) to the Canara Bank which
in turn would submit the consolidated claims of the Banks to the Ministry.

ICT in School Education in India
Posted By iCBSE On July 29, 2010 (12:00 am) In CBSE News
ICT in Education

Information and Communication Technology has permeated in every walk of life
affecting the technology fields such as launching satellites, managing
businesses across the globe and also enabling social networking. The
convergence of computer, communication and content technologies, being known
as ICT, have attracted attention of academia, business, government and
communities to use it for innovative profitable propositions. Year by year it
is becoming simpler to use devices such as desktop palm top, iPod etc.

21st century is characterized with the emergence of knowledge based society
wherein ICT plays a pivotal role. The National curriculum framework 2005 (NCF
2005) has also highlighted the importance of ICT in school education. With
this backdrop, major paradigm shift is imperative in education characterised
by imparting instructions, collaborative learning, multidisciplinary
problem-solving and promoting critical thinking skills.

Government of India has announced 2010-2020 as the decade of innovation.
Reasoning and Critical thinking skills are necessary for innovation.
Foundation of these skills is laid at school level. It is desirable that
affordable ICT tools and techniques should be integrated into classroom
instructions right form primary stage so as to enable students develop their
requisite skills. Most of the tools, techniques and tutorials are available
in Open domain and accessible on web.

Further to circular number 7 dated 22 Feb 2010 wherein the NCERT had invited
responses from teachers involved in the teaching and learning of Mathematics
at the senior secondary stage to acquire the skills for using the World Wide
Web,the CBSE would like to extend it to all subjects and all classes.

At Primary and Upper Primary level, focus may be on simple access to
information and trying to compile different views and analyse them to
conclude in one's own way. At the Secondary level, gathering and structuring
of data and computing to arrive at some reports may be taken up in any
subject not necessarily Science and Mathematics. At the Senior Secondary
level, when students are so exposed, they will get highly motivated to use
ICT tools for taking up complex, multidisciplinary problems such as
biochemistry, bioinformatics, environmental science, forensic science,
nanotechnology, business intelligence etc. This may necessitate computing
tools and techniques of generic nature as well as domain-specific. This is
the time when the students and the teachers together will work in global
competitive environment.

The schools affiliated to the CBSE have been at the forefront of adopting the
most modern innovations and practices to ensure there is a continuous
enhancement in the overall quality of teaching and learning. The CBSE
believes that it must bring the immense benefits of ICT and computing
technology to every classroom across its fraternity of affiliated schools to
improve academic outcomes of learners and to enhance the productivity of
teachers in classrooms. This can be done by encouraging the use of technology
in classroom teaching - e-learning and instant assessments which shall also
go a long way in supporting its CCE initiative as well.

CCE in the right spirit entails periodic assessments which are integrated
effectively in the classroom teaching and learning. Infact all assessments
must inform teaching and using technology helps to create interest among
learners as for example a quiz may be done online as part of formative
assessment. Technology can greatly assist teachers in classrooms to teach
difficult and abstract subject matter concepts effectively if the right
digital instruction materials, supporting technology infrastructure and
intensive training is provided to the teachers to support instruction..

This may require setting up a classroom equipped with LCD projector and
facility for computer mediated instructions. Specifically such classroom must
have:

a.    A projection or display device
b.    An interactive system
c.    Computer with UPS System

Education content mapped to the CBSE curriculum topics covering all major
subjects across all grades may be created gradually by teachers teaching the
content.

As a first step in this direction, all CBSE affiliated schools are advised to
setup atleast one classroom in their schools equipped with technology to
enable usage of digital instruction materials in the classroom. Teachers
wishing to teach a topic with multimedia resources can take the class to this
classroom. Proper advance scheduling may help teachers

*Rs.1500 Laptop*
Posted By iCBSE On July 23, 2010 (10:06 am) In CBSE

Rs.1500 Laptop announced for India

[image: Rs.1500 Laptop] http://media.icbse.com/1500.jpg

By 2011, the newbies who wish to try their hands on computers would get
funding of 50 percent on the purchase of each product. The Government of
India has planned to reduce the price of the computer by Rs.4800. This
initiative is undertaken as an element of National Mission on Education
through Information and Communication Technology. It is an effort to offer
the high definition interactive education.

The Centre purports that these laptops would be offered at such a low price
because they are a source of spreading literacy via technological methods.
This mode of education would help create the awareness among the masses. The
laptops are really going to see a huge drop in price.

Under the National Mission on Education through Information and
Communication Technology (NMEICT), connectivity is projected to be offered
to 504 universities http://www.icbse.com/universities/ and 25,000
collegeshttp://www.icbse.com/colleges/throughout India.

It has the following features:

   - It has single unit system which has a touch screen.
   - It has a keyboard which is in-built.
   - It consists of 2 GB RAM memory.
   - It comprises of wifi connectivity and USB port.
   - It is operated by a 2 watt system so that it can even perform in areas
   where power supply is low.
   - The laptop uses Linux system.

This project was a result of discussions on this project with a group of
experts at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT
Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Bombay by the human resource development
ministry. The human resource development ministry would send out these
laptops. This product is expected to bring bright prospect for learners.

Initially, when the low priced laptop were being planned to introduce, the
officials ruled out that its price would be around Rs.500. But, now it would
be almost three times the price that was estimated earlier.

The Rs.1500 Laptop http://www.icbse.com/rs-1500-laptop/ has additional
features such as:

   - Video web conferencing facility,
   - Multimedia content viewer for example pdf, jpeg, zip, etc,
   - Computing capabilities such as Open Office, SciLab and
   - Internet browsing with flash plug-in, JavaScript.

Though, it is priced low, there may be some drawbacks such as the gadget may
not be larger than normal laptop. The other drawback that the laptop has is
that it does not have a hard disc. But, even this can be resolved as the
add-on memory can be utilized in the laptop. Though, the computer lacks high
capacity of memory but a user can take additional memories.

The project of launching this product is running successfully and it would
be available to students, about after five to six months. It is been
reported that this low cost laptop would be low in price but the final price
of the product would be determined depending upon the transportation cost.

The Rs.1500 Laptop would be seeing a great deal of success and the
expectations are already high that this would be popular. The launching this
laptop at Rs.1500 is seen as one of the major steps which would be taken to
brighten the future of Indian students.
