Hi Kartik

Thank you for your reply.

Although I am yet to fully explore it myself, some of my colleagues
reported facing problems with searching documents, etc.

Also, would you say the accessibility of MS Teams with JAWS is better
in the new 2020 version as compared to 2018 and 2019 versions, or does
teams need to be setup in a specific way to be accessible with JAWS?

Would appreciate any insights you could provide.

Re: [AI] request for help regarding the use of photo shop

2019-03-09 Thread Vibhu Sharma
Hi!

I don't think photoshop is accessible But I do have a solution to your problem.

If you know the size you need to adjust your photograph too, (which
should be mentioned in your application requirements), open the
photograph in windows Paint program. Use the controls to resize the
image as required. I have done this several times, and it works.

For anything urgent, reach out to me on my yahoo ID, that I moniter
more regularly than this one.

Dear Ma’am

I am writing this in connection with a call for articles for the
second edition of ‘Insight’, the magazine in Braille.

I read your E-mail on accessindia. I am interested in contributing an
article for the second edition of the magazine.

I would be grateful if you could please give me some information so
that I could contribute.

1. Is there some specific topic on which the article has to be submitted?
2. What can be the length of the article?
3. By when does the article have to be submitted?

I really want to send you articles for publication in the ‘Insight’
magazine, and would be grateful if you provide me with this
information.

Looking forward to hearing from you in earnest

Thanks and regards

[AI] Scan of a Graphic Novel

Dear All

I am writing this to seek your valuable guidance over scan of a graphic novel.

I am suppose to scan a graphic novel for my studies this semester. The
novel has number of pictures, and different fonts have been used for
the text. I tried scanning with Fine Reader 11 and Open Book 9.0, both
the softwares produced quite poor results.

I request you to please guide me as to which software would be best to
scan this book, that would pick up the text of the novel accurately.

Looking forward to your valuable reply

Re: [AI] Need information regarding braille or accessible maps

2013-05-31 Thread vibhu sharma
Hi

I don’t know, how useful it might be to you, but I will share a
personal experience in dealing with maps to understand Geography.

In the beginning, when I started to understand maps, we actually
enlarged maps first. Secondly we put a thread on the maps, so that I
could, with the help of my fingers understand which state was located
where on the map, for example, Jamu and Kashmir is the first state
that is located on the map of India. This basically helped in
understanding the area and in distinguishing one state from the other
while marking it.

However, you must note, that I used it only for understanding maps and
as you said, the Geography. This was never used for testing me on
maps. AICB, Gurh Gaon School also has some good embossed maps that
they use for explaining their students.

Thanks

Re: [AI] Empowerment by CBSE for Visually Challenged - Effort Done!

2013-05-29 Thread vibhu sharma
Dear All

In continuation to my earlier mail, regarding my class XII examines
and results, I must share with you that, in class XI, when I had to
choose the five subjects that I wanted to study, I chose Multimedia
and Web Technology. I faced a lot of reluctance from lot of people,
because it was felt, that I would not be able to handle this subject
due to the usage of software like Photoshop and Flash, and questions
of screenshots.

At that time, Mr. Dipendra Manocha and Mr. Prashant Verma, most
determinably supported me, the two worthy members of accessindia.

In fact, Mr. Dipendra Manocha constantly wrote convincing letters to
explain how I could handle the subject, and Mr. Prashant Verma
himself, went with me to the CBSE office to convince them to give me
alternate questions in lieu of the questions that required a visual
input, or to explain the screenshots in words, so that I could write
the HTML, vbscript or ASP codes. I took home tuitions for this
subject, and Mr. Verma met and guided him.

Today, after two years of their constant support and help provided to
me particularly in handeling this subject, I have emerged as a subject
topper in this subject with 93%.

I attribute my achievement to them, and want to thank them for their
continuous support and guidance.

A big thank Sirs

Thanks and regards

never-ending support of my parents and teachers, along with the school
principal, Ms. Rita Sen, I got an aggregate of 90%. While my subjects
were English, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, and Multimedia
and Web Technology, I stand a subject topper in Multimedia and Web
Technology with a percentile of 93%.

In fact, I was the first visually challenged student to have written
my Class XII Board exams on the computer with the help of JAWS along
with my Question Paper provided to me on computer itself in accessible
 format such as Microsoft Word.

As if now, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), allowed
the visually challenged students to write their answers on the
computer, but the Question Paper was read out to them by someone else.
Once, I started using computer with the help of Screen Reading
technology, I always felt more independent, and I felt that if someone
else read out my Question Paper to me, it restricted my freedom to
move through my Question Paper independently. So, I put this forth to
my school principal, who diligently helped me to pursue it with the
 board.

So, the computer that was provided to me, was loaded with JAWS. A CBSE
personnel was present at the center as well. The Question Paper was
scanned, edited and then given to me after which, I was given the time
to answer my paper. In fact, it is noteworthy, that all the time, that
went into scanning and editing, was not deducted out of the student’s
time to answer the paper. The students, who gave their exams under
this provision were given 15 minutes to read the Question Paper, three
hours to answer it, under the board examination scheme, and an
additional hour given to persons with disability.

While it is a dream come true for all of us, it is my pleasure, as
well as a responsibility to share with you that my school Principal,
had helped me pursue it with the board. Naturally, it wasn’t an easy
task, but for more than a year, my school Principal, Special Educator,
and my parents along with me, had been pursuing this with the board
and finally we have been successful.

In fact, I had to go to the CBSE office several times, to give them a
demo of how I used computer, to explain them why I wanted it, and how
it made persons who are visually challenged independent. Of course,
 there were
disappointments, worries, but we never gave up, and finally, just 2
days before the Board Exams, the CBSE took a giant step in the
empowerment of the visually challenged individuals by allowing all
visually challenged students to use computer with JAWS, a major policy
change! Giving the visually challenged students their right to answer
 their papers independently!

I hereby acknowledge and thank my school principal, Mr. Vaneet Joshi,
the chairman CBSE, Mr. M. C. Sharma the Controller of Examination,
CBSE, and the members of the committee that was formed to resolve
 this.

 Thanks and regards

Re: [AI] want some guidance

2013-04-11 Thread vibhu sharma
Dear maitreya

It is extremely important for one to know, the area of one’s interest
besides the future opportunities that would be available. As one of
the list members has rightly pointed out, today, there is a wide range
of opportunities in any avenue and subject option that you choose. The
need is to be aware of one’s choices, aspirations and desires to
facilitate the goal attainment.

Like the others, as you yourself expressed in the list of the subjects
of your interest, I would suggest you to go for Humanities. But I
agree with Rahul, who said, that don’t choose a subject simply because
someone tells you to do it, or because the others you know, have, or
are doing it. If it pleases you, go for Sciences or Commerce.
Humanities itself has a wide range of subject combinations depending
on what your school offers.

Technology and Development has opened avenues to excel and one has to
work in the direction of breaking the stigmas attached, depending on
one’s choice. It is right, that a large number of visually challenged
people have excelled in Humanities, and it is equally correct that
there is yet an insensitivity among people and institutions, together
with other factors such as lack of teachers and technical devices
making it difficult for the visually challenged to excel in technical
subjects, but if one wants to bring a change or in fact, achieve what
the others have not, then one should be prepared to face the
challenged.

In short, I would only say, that if you think that it is either the
Commerce or the Sciences stream that you wish to go for, and that you
would be able to face the challenges that may meet you, go for it. But
if your interest lies in Humanities, take it.

If you think, that I may be of any help to you, don’t hesitate to
write me off the list.

All the best

With regards
Vibhu Sharma

Re: [AI] Obama Administration Blocks International Treaty To Benefit The Blind

2012-09-09 Thread vibhu sharma
Thanks a lot. This was exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks for making a quick reply and enabling assistance

Thanks and regards
Vibhu Sharma

On 7/24/12, avinash shahi shahi88avin...@gmail.com wrote:
 23 July 2012
 WASHINGTON --

The Obama administration is blocking the creation of an international
treaty designed to protect access to books and reading material for
 blind people in poor countries.

The administration's move to stall the treaty comes after President
Barack Obama vowed to support an international instrument to ensure
the global blind population has access to reading materials. Advocates
for the blind are strongly in favor of the treaty, while corporate
publishers, who profit from the global status quo, are opposed.

Negotiations are currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, before
a United Nations panel, and are scheduled to conclude on Wednesday.
Nonprofit organizations representing the interests of the blind say
the American delegation has been effective in negotiating substantive
provisions in the pact that would help people living with
disabilities. But they say the U.S. is balking at efforts to make
those provisions part of a binding international treaty. Instead, the
U.S. is seeking a non-binding slate of policy recommendations, which
advocates for the blind worry would not effectively remove barriers to
educational reading materials that are currently in place.

We absolutely support a treaty, said Melanie Brunson, executive
director of the American Council of the Blind, in an interview from
Geneva with Knowledge Ecology International, another nonprofit group
devoted to greater global access to information. We believe that
that's really the only way to ensure that countries will know it's
important, and it's not just something they can sort of do, or do
 voluntarily, or do parts of.

Although the talks are not well-known domestically, both corporate
publishers and advocates for people living with disabilities view it
as a landmark treaty. Media that are accessible to the blind, like
Braille works and audiobooks, are far more costly to create and
distribute than traditional print publications, and feature a much
smaller market. Many nations have specific copyright exceptions
protecting such works, exempting their producers from having to pay
costly royalties to publishers. But poor countries still have very
limited resources to produce works for the blind, and thus have
extremely limited libraries. An international treaty would make it
easier for wealthier nations, like the United States, to share works
 with other countries.

The treaty is essential to allow us to expand and serve the world,
said Jim Fruchterman, founder of Bookshare, an online nonprofit
American library with over 150,000 titles for the blind. Bookshare
titles are available for free to U.S. schools and U.S. students, but
not to citizens of developing nations. In a lot of the developing
world, the entire library might be 20 or 30 books, said Fruchterman.

The treaty would expand access to reading materials for the blind by
establishing a specific exemption to traditional copyright standards
for alternative publishing formats that benefit the blind and people
with visual impairments. American publishers are generally supportive
of the provision. Allen Adler, a top lobbyist with the Association of
American Publishers, helped craft such a domestic U.S. law to
accomplish exactly that. But publishers are concerned that finalizing
an official treaty, instead of a nonbinding slate of policy
recommendations, will establish a new intellectual property precedent
that could cut into profits in other areas.

We really don't want to establish a precedent on a series of treaties
that specifically focus on trying to set forth minimal limitations and
exceptions to the rights of copyright owners, Adler told KEI in
Geneva. Up until now ... the treaties and other international
agreements that have been devised ... have been to establish the
minimal rights available to copyright owners, not the limitations and
 exceptions to those rights.

A treaty would explicitly require countries to establish new copyright
protections for publications for the blind. Violating the treaty would
subject nations to international sanctions. A less formal statement of
policy would simply put a U.N. stamp of approval on permitting nations
to reach their own individual accords on new standards. Countries have
always been permitted to reach deals with each other on sharing
materials to benefit the blind, but few are doing any actual work on
the issue. There is no legislation pending in the American Congress to
allow the U.S. to share such works with other nations. The blind
community has been advocating for such legislation since the 1980s.

The Obama administration's delegation for the treaty talks is being
led by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which declined to comment

Clipboard Hack Problem - Shocking news about CTRL+C

Ctrl+C may be the most important work we do everyday. But it's not a very safe
thing to do. Read on to know why. What happens when you press Ctrl+C while you
are online. We do copy various data by Ctrl + C for pasting elsewhere. This
copied data is stored in clipboard and is accessible from the net by a
combination of Javascripts and ASP. This is called clipboard hack problem.

Just try this:
1. Copy any text by Ctrl + C
2. Click the Link: http://www.sourcecodesworld.com/special/clipboard.asp
3. You will see the text you copied was accessed by this web page.

Surprised! I know you are because i was also surprised to see it. Do not keep
sensitive data (like passwords, credit card numbers, PIN etc.) in the clipboard
while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text stored in the
clipboard to steal your sensitive information. Forward this information to as
many friends as you can, to save them from online frauds!

It is true, text you last copied for pasting (copy paste) can be stolen when
you visit web sites using a combination of JavaScript and ASP (or PHP, or CGI)
to write your possible sensitive data to a database on another server.

How Cipboard Hack is done?

The Clipboard hack is done by the following Source Code:

How to safeguard yourself from Clipboard Hack Problem?

To avoid clipboard hack problem, do the following:
1. Go to internet options-security.
2. Press custom level.
3. In the security settings, select disable under Allow paste operations via

Now the contents of your clipboard are safe.

[AI] Amazing! Please Pay Attention

2010-10-01 Thread vibhu sharma

Dear All

I am posting in here, after a very long time. Please pay heed to it, it is
amazing. May be, our expertise can solve the mystery.

This is enough to surprise us all. Go ahead and try this. It makes a good
discussion.

MAGIC #1

An Indian found that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on
the Computer which can be named as CON. This is
something funny and inexplicable? At Microsoft the whole
Team, couldn't answer why this happened!
TRY IT NOW, IT WILL NOT CREATE A FOLDER WITH THE NAME CON

MAGIC #2

For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type Bush hid the facts (without the
quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Noticed the weird bug?
No one can explain!

MAGIC #3

Again this is something funny and can't be explained?
At Microsoft the whole Team, including Bill Gates,
couldn't answer why this happened!

It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out
yourself?

Open Microsoft Word and type

=rand (200, 99)

And then press ENTER
And see the
magic?..!

Magic #4

Did you know that a flight number from one of the planes that hit one of the
two WTC towers on 9/11 was Q33N. In Notepad / WordPad or MS Word, type that
flight number i.e. Q33N. Increase the font size to 72. Change the font to
Wingdings. ….. u will be amazed by the findings!!!………..

[AI] [ai] Word Password Recovery

Dear All

I humbly request you all to please assist in the mentioned regard. Could you
please provide a link or a software of such kind that can recover password from
word file?

Actually, I have forgotten the password, put in a word document. But I am quite
sure that it wasn’t a dictionary word. The file is extremely important,
therefore, recovery of the password is essential.

I would be thankful if you could provide a software or a link to download, such
a software that can recover a non-dictionary word.

Your assistance in this regard is much awaited

[AI] International Book Fair at Delhi

2010-02-01 Thread vibhu sharma

Dear All

Greetings to everyone.

As we already know, the International Book Fair began on Saturday, January 30,
2010, in Delhi at Pragati Madan.

I have been to the book fair at that vary day, and have seen the various stalls
put up by the different publishers.

It has been extremely heart breaking for me, to note, that despite it being the
international book fair, there was no ability of books accessible to the needs
of the visually impaired, by the general publishers, who had put up their
stalls.

At the same time, I must mention here, that our learned heads of the blind
organizations of Delhi, have taken an extensive and a regular interest to make
books available for the visually impaired, and have put in innumerable efforts
for the same.

So, this time, the Saksham Trust – Rajindar Nagar – Delhi, and All India
Confederation of Blind – Rohini – Delhi, have shown a huge interest towards
making reading materials available for us, and have taken an excellent
initiative, which is of course worth appreciating.

The Saksham Trust has campaigned in the book fair, ‘Right to Read Campaign’.

Nevertheless, the All India Confederation of Blind has put up a stall of the
books in Braille in the International Book Fair.

These efforts are of course worth appreciating, and these organizations deserve
huge thanks from us all.

Personally, through this communication, I extend my sincere thanks to the
learned heads of these organizations, and to all those who have put in their
precious time, and sincere and earnest efforts towards this initiative.

With best regards
Vibhu Sharma

[AI] AI - Regarding the Tata Internet Connection

2008-10-25 Thread vibhu sharma
Dear All,
First of all, wish you all, a very happy Diwali.
I just read the mail regarding the tata internet connection. Its Unbelievable
that it doesn't work with Jaws properly. I have used it with both Jaws 50 and
70, and it worked properly. I was having the dial-up connection too, but I
suggest, that those who want to take up this connection shall take some other
suitable connection, as I had problems with its speed and other things.
You must note, that to have a tata dial-up connection, you need to have the
tata phone, which is unusable. I had problems with the speed of the internet,
which is so poor, and the internet doesn't work for more than half of the day,
and while communicating on the phone. So I finally got it disconnected and took
up the MTNL broadband, which is wonderful.
Another difference, between the internet connections of tata and MTNL is that,
if the tata internet connection stops working, Cannot Find Surver message
comes, you have to call them up and they ask you to do some settings, and the
drawback is that, they tell you through the mouse, and if you tell them, that
you are visually impaired or blind, they do not help by telling the keyboard
commands, though, they know it. You see, its written beside each mouse command
that they tell you to give, while the custmer Executive of MTNL try to help you
with the keyboard commands.
Wishing you all a very happy Diwali
Regards
Vibhu
