Re: [AI] Counsellor

2022-05-10 Thread Ritesh Agarwal
Yp Ajay!

Dear Apurwa,

For IIMs related queries, you and your brother can definitely connect with
Ajay and me. Further, if require we can further help you to connect with
others, working in the finance field.
Additionally in my opinion, VI persons can do coding as the programming
languages are very accessible and there would be comparatively less
challenges in coding related work because of the back-end nature of the
job. For your information, there are VI persons working in Google and
Microsoft as well.
The key point is that he must not loose hope and should ignore
negativities. He can learn things at normal pace and also at higher pace
than abled persons if he has zeal and curiousity.

Happy to connect over call and can discuss the above in details.

Kind Regards
Ritesh Agarwal

Thank you all for your response.

It's been 2 months that he got to know he might lose vision quite soon. He is
in denial and doesn't feel like working at all.

How did you guys deal with this?

He is 22 and he got to know about RP seriousness 2 months back.

He spoke to councellor but then he pretends everything is in control infront of
her. But as a family I can see he is anxious and had lost will to live.

My family is very sensitive too and they are not able to accept this as well.

He had plans of becoming developer but now he feels he can't code or won't be
able to learn at fast pace.

I also would like to enquire about MBA from IIM ? What cutoff and concessions
does VI people get and how easy it is to get MBA in finance done from IIM ?

TIA

infront of her. But as a family I can see he is anxious and had lost will
to live.
My family is very sensitive too and they are not able to accept this as
well.
He had plans of becoming developer but now he feels he can't code or won't
be able to learn at fast pace.
I also would like to enquire about MBA from IIM ? What cutoff and
concessions does VI people get and how easy it is to get MBA in finance
done from IIM ?

TIA

Re: [AI] Counsellor

2022-05-09 Thread Rakshit Malik
Let your brother go ahead with his interests. He may choose a field
that is inaccessible currently, but accessibility, with obvious
efforts, is quite creatable. A few years ago, I was suggested to not
learn Persian; it was proposed that my disability would make such
learning impossible. But, as it turns out, it is challenging but very
much possible, and I am currently on the second level -- hopefully
towards a career in historical research.

I agree with Vaibhav and Ajay. I am 24 and myself in the
career-building phase. You have my contact number, and I am more than
happy to talk with your sibling.

All best,
Rakshit

Re: [AI] Counsellor

2022-05-08 Thread Vaibhav Saraf
Hi Apurwa,

I had no plans to reply to this post as others have better expertise and
experience over the matter. But I thought I should reply to a point.

I would encourage you to go to a counsellor as you had already in mind for
positivity.

But in my view please don't limit him to a career advise given by some
counsellor who might have a narrow view himself/herself. For instance a
counsellor might probably give you 4-5 fields to stay in as other VI are
comfortable there, but you never know if any is a good fit or choice for
him. Today almost all the fields except defense are accessible for the
blind and VI in some way or the other.

Look at this list itself:
I am an IT Consultant and developer.
Some are managers in different fields.
Some are in different consulting positions.
Various bank positions.
Teachers.
Assistive tech trainers.
Human Resources.
Digital Marketing.
Social entrepreneurship.

That covers a whole good type of jobs and I am not covering everything yet.

Apart from that I am a budding archer too and I compete alongside fully
sighted archers in competitions and train with them. A South Korean archer
who has 2 Olympics gold medals under his belt is VI too.

There is almost no limit to what you can opt for a career, and I believe
most counsellors might not be able to tell you that if you ask this
particular question.

Thanks,
Vaibhav

I Actually need a counsellor cum mentor who could guide my brother in his
career. He needs to know all the possible post graduate degrees he can get
into or sustainable career options such that his life gets purpose.

Thanks in Advance.

Dear apoorva,

Myself also affected by RP. And, I lost my vision.
Initially, I felt somewhat upset.
Finally we should accept the originality.
You or me is not the first one to get into darkness.
Already, many of us passed on the path.
Now, there are many accessibility devises to support us.
It is initially difficult to step up.
But, you can get yourself customized to it.
You can lead your life safe, smooth & silently.
Your life is a God gifted one.
You should not treat it as a burden.
With a basic work around, you can lead a happy life.

Don't be surrounded with negative thoughts.
Never worried of anything.
Always be positive.
Nature is welcoming you.
You are the only & one hero of your life.
Be happy & be happy for ever.
If you want more clarification, keep in touch with me.

2022-05-07 Thread Ritesh Agarwal
Dear Apurwa,

In parallel you should try to connect your brother with other VI persons
who have achieved success in their life.
I guess there is this type of phase comes in every person who is suffering
from RP and the same had happened with me.
On the basis of my own experience, I guess your brother is anxious about
his careers, his dreams and all those things that he had thought prior to
his diagnosis and now he might be of the opinion that he could hardly
pursue his dreams because of impairment.
If this is the case, I would suggest you to make him connect and talk to VI
persons who had made their careers in their respective fields.

Further, I am sharing few of the links to go through which motivates me in
my low time. Hope this is helpful.

I might be totally wrong in the assessment of the situation and hence,
apologies if I had mentioned anything inappropriate.

Kind Regards

The Eyeway Toll free number for your information is 18005320469. Guessing from
what you have shared, your brother might require more than information. Our
team can help but would also suggest you speak to Dr Sharad Philip.

By the way, what is your brother’s name and which city do you live in?

May be we can take this conversation off the list. You can reach me on

[AI] Counsellor

2022-05-05 Thread APURWA SABDE
Hi All,

I need a pyschologist or counsellor for my brother, He got diagnosed with
RP few months back and has lost will to do anything.
Either he is silent and sleeping or he is anxious and irritated.
He is not willing to take therapy.
So I was looking for pyschologist or counsellor who has been dealing
similar situation.

Thanks for your help in advance.
Please advise.
