Re: [AI] Most accessible setup box
Hi, I have not used apple tv device but a iPhone user. From this experience I can say that iOS can guarantee accessibility of only native apps and not other apps installed on it. I would also suggest you to keep your expectations low when it comes to smart streaming devices and smart TV. Due to the nature of content and lack of physical keyboard, accessibility will always be lower than a laptop or PC. You can also consider Chroma smart Tv which runs Fire OS. If anyone has attempted to connect bluetooth keyboard with smart TV, please comment if connecting physical keyboard improves accessibility. Hi Ajay, Harshit, Thank you so much for your detailed mails. Would you know if Apple TV would have accessibility all across the app interfaces? May i also request any Jio user to share their experience regarding the accessibility of the JIO setup box? I did not find airtel set top box too great in terms of accessibility. & like i said, it also trails in terms of OS updates. is Airtel stick any different or is it something that is the same except the option to subscribe chanels? Sorry for too many questions, but i just want to probably pickup the best option possible, now that i made up my mind to do away with the existing setup. Thank you, Bharat. Re: [AI] Most accessible setup box
Hi Bharat, As far as screen-reader interface within apps is concerned, it depends upon accessibility of the app in question which will be common across platform of all companies using same OS. For example, Amazon's prime video is fairly accessible whereas it is not the same for other OTT apps. Since you want to use only OTT apps without paying for channels, different options are: 1. Amazon's Firestick (which uses Amazon's Fire OS)-Suggested by Ajay above 2. Airtel's Xtreme stick (which supports only OTT apps) unlike Airtel Xtreme box (which is a hybrid streaming device having both ott and channels) 3. Jio fibre connection with settop box. It will give broadband connection with smart settop box (with only OTT apps without channel). Its rental is 707/- per month for broadband+14 OTT apps (excluding prime video and netflix). However, its accessibility has to be ascertained by someone who has used it. + On 4/11/23, Ajay Minocha wrote: > Fire TV stick is perfect for this use-case. > Apple TV is too overpriced. > Fire TV stick has a separate tab where all the live tv channels are > grouped from the apps you have subscribed to. > Tip: wait for an Amazon sale and buy the tv stick 4k max version. you > will get a very good deal. > > On 11/04/2023, Bharat wrote: >> Hi all, >> >> Thank you for your response. Fire TV stick is perfect for this use-case. Apple TV is too overpriced. Fire TV stick has a separate tab where all the live tv channels are grouped from the apps you have subscribed to. Tip: wait for an Amazon sale and buy the tv stick 4k max version. you will get a very good deal. On 11/04/2023, Bharat wrote: > Hi all, > > Thank you for your response. Re: [AI] Most accessible setup box
Hi all, Thank you for your response. The reason for my intention to move away are many. Firstly, airtel insts that one has to keep on paying even if wants to only use all the apps on the setup box. In which case it is a waste of money. secondly, they haven't updated the OS of the setup box whereas google has pushed far too many updates for the TV OS. I am looking for an interface, whether, apple, android or fire stick, wherein i shouldn't have to pay for the channel subscriptions because i want to be able to watch all of the programmes via the apps & not through the chanels. also, wherein the screen reader should provide the spoken interface even within the apps & we should be able to search & programmes with the help of screen reader & don't have to depend on any sighted assistance at all. Hope, i have been able to clarify my concerns. thank you, Bharat. Re: [AI] Most accessible setup box
In my personal opinion, changing the services just for the sake of accessibility does not sound to be a very promising gesture, for you never know what today is most accessible might turn out to be completely inaccessible tomorrow. In today's fast changing technology, what becomes accessible and what turns out to be inaccessible sometimes appears very accidental and sometimes it appears a very routine matter.
