Re: [AI] Sources close to social justice minister: new notes of Rs 100 Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are braille compliant
Got to see both the new 500 and 2000 notes. On one side there are very small raised lines with small gaps between them. I think they are difficult to count and as the currency note gets old, I wonder how legible they will be. Someone told me that RBI thinks they will not fade with use. Anyway, counting them requires sensitive fingers, something which not everyone may have. The new 500 note is almost the same length as current 20 note and the new 2000 note is same length as old 500 note. The new 500 note is shorter than current 100 note. We should also take into consideration the thickness of new notes, is it ideal for embossing braille mark on it? I don't think so! The ideal and long-lasting solution must be to create different shapes on the left or right corner of these note papers which will remain till the life of notes... Re: [AI] Sources close to social justice minister: new notes of Rs 100 Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are braille compliant
I've used Rs. 2000 note and it doesn't make any sense from accessibility perspective. though embossed lines are there its hard to count them. More over, it will go away as the note get circulate from hand to hand. It simply fooling the honorable court and the entire community. --- Prashanth MN, Panchayat Development officer Department of rural Development and Panchayat Raj government of Karnataka Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. [AI] Sources close to social justice minister: new notes of Rs 100 Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are braille compliant
A DAY after the Supreme Court rapped the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry and goaded the Solicitor General to name the minister “sitting over the files” on welfare of the disabled, those close to Thaawarchand Gehlot, the minister in question, were quick to point out how the this government has initiated several steps to “facilitate” the disabled. Sources close to the minister were quick to point out that one such initiative is visible in the new notes of Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 that have tiny lines embossed along the corners to make it Braille-compliant: four lines on Rs 100 notes, five on Rs 500 notes and seven lines on Rs 2,000 notes. http://indianexpress.com/article/india/india-news-india/delhi-confidential-point-to-note-thaawarchand-gehlot-4395749/ -- Avinash Shahi Doctoral student at Centre for Law and Governance JNU Register at the dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phones / Tabs on: http://mail.accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in Search for old postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/accessindia@accessindia.org.in/ To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
