Dear Sir, You can make defferent settings including brightness to reduce use of power in batterry mode if you are windows7 user. Thus you can save the power and extend the battery usage. I am not using dell. mine is lenovo ideapad. I have found it for my model. it is Fn + f2. it will toggle the display off and on. Yes, decreasing the brightness saves the battery. but as per my knowledge, every laptop has a key combination for turning on and off the display completely. it saves the battery more than from the dimming. Dinesh, I think since you changed the your function key, you could not locate it. I guess it is the Fn key along with any of the function keys from f1 to f12. you can get it by trial and error.
