RE: [AI] Navigation apps?

2023-11-05 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi Nishant,

I use a combination of blindsquare and google maps which usually works. The
challenge starts when you need to reroute on account of route closures etc. The
maps do reroute but it gets difficult to explain to the driver because many
times, google maps tries to bring you back to the original route.

Hello Pranav,

 Thank you for the response.

I find myself using uber mostly as well, but I did wonder how useful google
maps would be whilst walking or such.

To be honestly for me I expected a little better than what it does do at the
moment, could be just my phone and or the network in terms of accuracy, mostly
useful if you end up with an unhelpful driver or the like.

as for the detailed voice guidance After further investigation, it appears to
be a feature only limited to the US and Japan. Thought they would have expanded
rolled it out to other countries by now.

Cheers,

I use google maps like the rest of the world though mainly for driving. I am in
a situation where I drive to most places. This can be uber or with a driver.

As for walking, I have not tried them but the little I have seen, the
directions are quite detailed even in India. I’ll try to checkout this new
voice guidance.

The last message I sent did not go through, hoping this one does.

Is this feature not available in India yet?

and if not, What other map alternatives if any do you guys use to get around?
Thanks.

Re: [AI] Navigation apps?

2023-11-05 Thread Ashutosh Singhal
My friends and I have already requested this feature for Indian from the
Google Disability Answer Desk many months ago. If, you genuinely want this
Google Maps Detailed Voice Guidance feature for Indian users you can also
request and share from your side at

Please mind that most companies only roll out the feature or fix the bug in
any software when they get enough requests from the users including Google.

2023-11-05 Thread Nishant Rana
Hello there,
Thank you Aravind for the response.
I haven't heard of we walk will check it out.
Blindsquare I have seen demoed at a few places online, but I believe it
uses other maps to provide those directions and again is quite affected by
the accuracy of those map apps that it uses.
Does it work well in india given it's asking price?
Cheers.

2023-11-05 Thread Nishant Rana
Hello Pranav,
 Thank you for the response.
I find myself using uber mostly as well, but I did wonder how useful
google maps would be whilst walking or such.
To be honestly for me I expected a little better than what it does do at
the moment, could be just my phone and or the network in terms of accuracy,
mostly useful if you end up with an unhelpful driver or the like.
as for the detailed voice guidance After further investigation, it appears
to be a feature only limited to the US and Japan. Thought they would have
expanded rolled it out to other countries by now.
Cheers,

Nishant,

I use google maps like the rest of the world though mainly for driving. I am in
a situation where I drive to most places. This can be uber or with a driver.

As for walking, I have not tried them but the little I have seen, the
directions are quite detailed even in India. I’ll try to checkout this new

2022-01-02 Thread MAYANK SHARMA
Hi,

Thank you Sheik and Pratap for the suggestions, these sound promising. I
didn't know Lazarillo was an IOS app as well.
Krishna, I was looking forward to trying out Soundscape but it doesn't
allow me to download through the App Store. It's apparently not available
at my location.

Thanks

Re: [AI] Navigation apps for IOS

2022-01-02 Thread Aparna Sachdev
Hi
Soundscape used to be great, not so much for navigating from one point to
another, but to get a better sense of your surroundings. It had landmarks et
cetera plotted at different places on the stereo spectrum. Unfortunately, it
wasn’t updated to work with iOS 15 it seems, and you can’t download it from the
App Store anymore. Do let me know though if anybody’s found a way to make use
of it still.
Thanks

Hi there,

SoundScape is also good.
it helps you set bookmark, also it has a feature called audio beeping
which on activating start beeping, the beeping gets sharper as you
reach nearer to your set location.
hope that helps.

Hi there,

SoundScape is also good.
it helps you set bookmark, also it has a feature called audio beeping
which on activating start beeping, the beeping gets sharper as you
reach nearer to your set location.
hope that helps.

Subject: [AI] Navigation apps for IOS

Hi,

A new IOS user here. Would anyone know of apps for navigation that would allow
me to mark specific points we're at, so we can simply travel from one point to
another? I'm using Google and Apple maps and haven't found a feature to
bookmark points that do not include landmarks.
I'd also like to ask everyone which are the navigation apps they're using that
work well in India.

Thanks

Mayank
