Hi allIn the beginning itself, I humbly write the disclaimer that I am a late life, visually impaired person, and some of you may not resonate with my thoughts, but I am still sharing it, why do we have to give so much of gyaan कयाैन  to such ignorant souls and waste our energy ?If it was me instead of this student, I would have simply said why have you done so many paap ? That there was a need of such activities in your life? Instead let me teach you and earn some forgiveness for my karma is to get a friend like you period in the ice cream shop experience, I would have given the same retort adding I will bring some of and children for you to feed and on some forgiveness for your bad karma’s. As I did one, I coming to your Parlour simple give them back what they deserve. No clarification no explanation required for such people, that is what I feel and that is what I have done and that is what happened doing ever since I lost my eyesight.Listen when I was a sighted person, I at that time was not bothered about peoples reactions and expressions about my action an and now when I can’t even see them, it’s really makes nothing change in my life at all. RE: [AI] Why do people say these things to the blind? And what can be done for the same?

2024-05-07 Thread Yamuna Jivana Dasa
Hi,

People may be soft-heartedly feeling sympathetic seeing us as blind. No harm
intended. We simply accept their feeling of compassion, bless them from the
heart and move on. They could do with some punya even if that is true anyway.
Or at least they could do with some blessings from us for the help or facility
they might provide us, blind or not as we may be!

Just my thoughts.

My name isn’t Sigmund Freud, but I think that for this student the opposite
of success isn’t sloth – it’s running after flies that are meant to be
fanned away.

The truism says, success requires sacrifices. Many times it’s not enough
for you to sacrifice your sleep, hunger, comfort etc., though we rarely
think beyond them.

The devil attacks where you’re least expecting him from.

I have had a string of rude experiences, some coming out from people who I
thought to be my dearest friends, and they have burned my heart to the
core. But if your priorities are defined, you have to move ahead, no matter
the pain.

Additionally, attaching your blindness with every ill treatment that you
face isn’t wise, because every single person on this earth suffers from it.

Whether people talk politely or rudely with me, I’m quick to conclude my
blindness to be its cause, but my prejudice gets scrubbed off when I see
them behaving with others also in the same way.

I could be more resourceful than some other blind, but I think that they’re
happier and more contented with their lives because they know what to
welcome and what to put out the window. I get this feeling when I mingle
with them. they may not talk philosophy or read voluminous books, but they
have the right approach for things.

I therefore feel that this student must seek opportunities to mix up with
other blind people. She could go to trips and conferences and see how
terribly funny and hard the blind are.

snatch them away.

Your heart touches a boiling emotion. Option A: force your heart to burn
and option B: move it away to put it in a meaningful pursuit.

I agree with below views of senior members.

Just to add more and summarise

Please worry about uncontrollable and trust your capabilities. The modern
medical research reveals that human brain is hardwired to produce best
outcome when it faces constant hardships. World is kind and cruel for
everyone, initially struggles may be more but you never know this is how
you will find a way and opportunity to grow and excel.

2024-05-07 Thread Preeti Monga
A lot of great suggestions have been made here. I wish to offer to help the
student to come out of her distress regarding what people say to us when they
find out we are blind! Please feel free to share my number with her and I will
try to do my best to help her get over all these silly things!

I say silly things is because that is only what it is!

Everyone wants to feel grater and better than the other person! When they the
sighted world sees us as performing citizens, it is very painful and difficult
for them to digest this matter and they wish to somehow dampen our spirit and
put us down so that we get out of the race ourselves and leave all the success
to them!

I don’t think we need to waste our time changing people, for it is so very
difficult for anyone to change oneself, so how can we even imagine that we can
change the world! Just do your best and just feelsympathy for people who
treat us like that!

Just do your thing and be happy! For when you are successful only then you
become the target for people to shoot down!

I agree. Let's not take everything to our hearts. Try to senticize only those
around or whenever we get an opportunity to address a large gathering.
Otherwise, let our deeds and actions speak for themselves. If somebody is so
unaware, it's their problem.

Keep smiling, and try to take a few things in your stride!

Sad reality out of an age-old-perception is, our society is built on
traditional thought to see disability ONLY charity-based. Therefore Young,
educated, highly qualified people with disability with disability and people who
work in this sector should NOT get demoralised or upset by these incidents.
They only show us how still there is lack of awareness about Rights-based
disability, around us. So this is challenge for us. So take out 2-3 minutes and
without getting angry, annoyed explain to these people that persons with
disability like "me",like "my student" dont need charity, pity. They are first
persons like you and me Sir. Only difference is they have a disability like
vision deficiency. With education and qualifications they are equally, some

participation anywhere in public spaces due to barriers, it is OUR DUTY Sir to

bring about change. Let us focus on ourselves. We can be agents of change.

Such reactions from people in society only show us we have miles to go as
regards disability awareness, rights-based disability awareness, awareness
about inclusion and consequently mindset change in a society which is still
under the grip of traditional thought process of viewing Disability as
Charity-based and more importantly as emanating from "Paap
-Punya".
Miles to go before we sleep.
