Dear Ravi, I second your thoughts with regards to replies from certain members with their sarcastic remarks. We want equal opportunities in education, employment, property rights . In these important matters we want equality but at the same time we should not forget about our handicaps and it is here the govt should step with accessibility and reasonable accommodation so that we get a chance to compete with world on a equal footing. We really need such exclusive coaches for PwD and railways should not forget this in process of modernisation. Both Mumbai metro and Delhi metro have seats exclusively reserved for PwD in their coaches but during peak hours or sometimes otherwise these seats are occupied by normal passengers. You have to wait till their conscience wakes up to your physical requirements. Sometimes the normal passengers refuse to vacate.This could have been avoided by providing a separate coach for the PwD. In my opinion we can lodge a complaint with https://pgportal.gov.in and monitor the action status with help of RTI So please file the greviance with proper train numbers etc to PMO and Railway Ministry.This should be the first option. Hi my query may be silly, but I have it in my mind for a long time as I haven't travelled in the disabled coach... Is the disabled coach for reserved differently abled passengers or unreserved differently abled passengers? Is there any facility for differently abled passengers that makes the compartment accessible like wheel chair friendly or audio announcements of stations or any such ...? If the dept is opting for changes it could be fruitful if it is alloted for unreserved differently abled passengers and senior citizens who could not be able to rush in the midst of other passengers to catch a seat in the unreserved compartment... First of all, I don't want to speak against anybody's ideas or thoughts. however, I want to make one thing clear. When there are special facilities for visually impaired and disabled people, let them be, who we don't use them often should not comment about them I think. If there are some special facilities that are being provided by indian railways, let them be, they will be useful to those who are in need of them and who are needy. Dear Friends, Few days back, railway department modified the irctc website and removed the accessibility feature. Now, they are removing disability coaches. If it is available, it will be occupied by others. Why the indian railways is doing like this.
