[AI] Radio jockey training for visually impaired
Radio jockey training for visually impaired 18 Mar 2009, 2340 hrs IST, TNN PUNE: If a city-based institute has its way, the visually impaired will soon get a chance to play your favourite music on the radio. Seamless Education Academy is to provide free radio jockey training to the visually impaired in batches of five starting this month. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, chairman of SeamEdu Arun Nigwekar said it is a way to provide more job avenues to the visually impaired as part of their corporate social responsibility initiative. While only five of the eight will be chosen for the first batch, the remaining three will be absorbed into the second batch due to start in April. For the first six months, SeamEdu will train the batch of five absolutely free, but after that we would expect some kind of sponsorship to continue with the initiative, said MD Kedar Nigwekar. Gene Parker, an internationally recognised radio personality, who is visually impaired, will also be part of the initiative and will not only act as an advisor but also teach the students the software related aspects of jockeying. There are quite a few softwares and devices the visually impaired can use. There are more and more options now for blind people but what we need is more encouragement from big organisations, Parker said. Brother-sister duo Ismail and Nilofar Attar, who are among the chosen eight, said they have received a wonderful opportunity and one they hope will get them good jobs. We have become more confident and our communication skills have improved after the few days of training we received. The actual course will help us better, they said. Meena Bedarkar of the Nirmalya Trust was equally supportive of the initiative. It is not only a way of diverting them to new fields but also teaches them many new things. It is a one of its kind initiative and we hope it will continue seeing the enthusiasm among kids, she said. [AI] '123456' is world's worst password!
'123456' is world's worst password! March 19, 2009 16:59 IST '123456' is the most common password used by people on the Internet. Obscenities, names of fast cars and even ncc1701 -- the ship number for Star Trek's Starship Enterprise -- have made it to the list of top 500 worst passwords of all time. Compiled by Whatsmypass.com, the list features passwords most commonly used by Internet users. And topping the list of the most common password is 123456, followed by 'password' in second place. Other popular password choices were first names, repeated letters and numbers, pop-culture references. Even batman, bond007 and Coca-Cola made it to the list, reports the Courier Mail. The website said that almost one out of nine people use at least one of the passwords mentioned on the list, and one out of every 50 people use one from the top 20. In fact, a study commissioned by digital communications agency @www found that an average adult had as many as 15 passwords to remember. But 61 per cent of people used the same passwords for as many different accounts as possible in order to make life easier. Re: [AI] Eyeway radio show
Hi Shadab others, The new backend CMS of our website has a few teething troubles, because of which the radio show is not playing or downloading in full. My colleague who manages the website is working with the developers and we hope it would soon be sorted out. but i was surprised when a new caller on our helpdesk from Jalandhar today told me that they could listen to it yesterday night without any problems, though its not working at our end. Will update the group as soon as it is troubleshooted. Also note the URL of our radio page is changed now, so those who have saved it in their favourite links need to change it to http://www.eyeway.org/includes/eyeway-radio-show. thanks and regards, Pranay Gadodia | Programme Manager Project Eyeway - A comprehensive information helpdesk on eye blindness C/o Score Foundation, Y-70, Lower Ground floor, Hauz Khas, New Delhi - 110 016. Re: [AI] query from thahir
It is once again very sad to see such mails. back in 90s, Mohindar Amarnath and Chetan Sharma had compared BCCI selection committee members with Jokers. it is really wrong to be even tempted to say such exclamations here, but it won't be surprising if someone utters things like this after going through such mails. Re: [AI] This time Banking!
I have also the same experience with bank of india. When I aproach the branch for the internet banking with the RBI cercular, first time god knows where they throw my application. When I feel up and submited the form for second time, the manager said that we will have to ask to our head office that whether this facility should be given to VI account holder or not. When I vissited the branch for more than 3 4 time, at last the manager told me that we have forwarded the application and finally I got my user ID and password without any problem. Further they were arguing that they will provide me only view facility and not the fund transfer. In this way, they took 3 months for 15 days matter. But the most important point I did not understand, if RBI cercular is clearly stating that such facilities should be given to VI customers without any discrimination, is there any need to ask there head office? Or it is a policy of troubling us. Re: [AI] This time Banking!
Sir, I found onlinesbi.com indeed accessible with jaws. I am using this service, and in all the options i found it accessible. even clickable elements are accessible. From the security point of view, they have got certificate from Varsun or something like this..., check out on the website homepage. So it ensures that their customer gets full security while doing any transaction on the site. They have clearly mentioned the settlement procedure in case of any problems related to the transaction or website. You can transfer funds, pay utility bills and tax etc, request for dd cheque book etc and shop etc.. First, you will need to fill the form in your branch, which you can either download or take from the branch, which is free, fill the form, you will get your user ID and password along with the further instructions. Hope I have covered all the questions which you wanted to know, in case anything not covered, then write me of the list. [AI] Enough of IE7 - Try IE8 now!
Hello!! Microsoft has launched its new and faster version of Internet Explorer i.e. 8 which is available for download on microsoft's website or here is a link for your quick download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe According to the critics, its much better than IE7 which was slow; but it still lags behind other popular browsers like FireFox, Safari etc in terms of browsing speeds and other additional features. Well, I have personally used IE8 and from the looks of it, it looks better than IE7 but haven't experienced much of a difference in browsing. Re: [AI] Wayfinder Access
Hi, As of this writing, there is no tutorial for wayfinder access. The manual indeed leaves much to be desired. Ideally, you should read the manual for wayfinder navigator and then read the manual for wayfinder access to fully understand how to use the product. Alternatively, you can contact your dealer for support. Re: [AI] Wayfinder Access
Hi, 1. How are you plotting a route in wayfinder access? That is, are you using the navigate to option to initiate a route? This is what should be done. 2. You will need to contact various map providers to add points of interests to the map. Alternatively, you can add these points in your favourites yourself. The local wayfinder navigator distributor is mapped by India. You can right to supp...@mapmyindia.com and explain that you are using the wayfinder maps. They have been responsive to updates. As far as I remember, the maps are updated quarterly. 3. As regards starting services such as Yellow Pages, for expediency, I suggest you use local Yellow Pages such as just dial. If you want to use wayfinder for yellow page access, you would need to contact wayfinder themselves. As for POI's I have not found some wellknown restaurants in my area on the map. The maps are standard and the pricing has nothing to do with the quality of the maps that are used. You can indeed register and use mywayfinder.com. You need to set a password from your phone and then login. Services like yellow pages are indeed not available in India but that has nothing to do with the price that you have paid for the product. This is a Wayfinder issue. The local distributer of Wayfinder Navigator which is the mainstream product is mapmyindia who you can visit at http://www.mapmyindia.com. They may be able to help with map quality issues. Also, do remember that areas are known by their proper names on the maps. There are places in Delhi that are known by their common names. These days though I can see a few common names crop up on to the maps. I assume that the same will be true for Mumbai. I mean that if some of these services were to be introduced and the maps were to be updated periodically would it not happen that more of us would go for it? I give credit to Saksham for negotiating the special price and would request them to look into it. Also, there is no support for Indian users. We are not even registering at mywayfinder.com.
