[Bug 9362] The keyboard doesn't work, the computer is very slow
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9362 [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What|Removed |Added CC||acpi- ||[EMAIL PROTECTED] ||et Component|Power-Other |Power-Battery --- Comment #47 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-12-14 13:16 --- Thanks for the quick resolution, guys. The 3 patches (taken from the list) are now in the acpi release tree for 2.6.24-rc5. Andrew's doubt was correct, however -- I didn't notice this report until now, for I was not on the CC. In general, adding acpi-bugzilla@lists.sourceforge.net, as I'm doing now, to bugs that may involve ACPI is good practice. I do periodically sift through bugzilla to look for trouble in the ACPI category, but periodically != constantly. François, To answer your question about the regression being checked into the tree 3 months ago during 2.6.23... If you run gitk on that commit, you'll notice that it figures out where in the release cycle that commit lands. If it said Preceeds 2.6.23, then it means it shipped in 2.6.23 - no matter what tag it follows. But this one Preceeds 2.6.24-rc1, which means it first shipped upstream in 2.6.24-rc1, even though it was checked into a tree well before that. Indeed, this patch series was checked into 2.6.23 much earlier than the final commit, and it was re-based late in 2.6.23 in preparation for 2.6.24... But more importantly, you noticed this first at 2.6.24-rc2. That means that nobody with a system like yours (Smart battery and Klaptopdaemon bug) ran the -mm tree for the period this was in 2.6.23-rc*-mm*, nor ran the upstream kernel tree until 2.6.24-rc2. While it is true that systems with sbs is quite rare (for many years, Linux did not support them at all) this testing gap is not comforting. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. - SF.Net email is sponsored by: Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. [Bug 8953] ACPI: EC: acpi_ec_wait timeout - Acer Aspire 5050-4570, Aspire 5050-4697 (Turion64 MK-38)
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8953 [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What|Removed |Added AssignedTo|[EMAIL PROTECTED] |[EMAIL PROTECTED] Component|Power-Battery |BIOS --- Comment #46 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-12-14 20:33 --- Folks, Can anybody confirm that the battery status works properly on Windows using BIOS 3309? Bob, Can you take a look at why Alexey's PHSR modification was necessary and ponder if perhaps there is a Windows bug compatibility workaround we can add to ACPICA? Certainly asking people to modify their BIOS is not a scalable solution, and WILL_NOT_FIX is probably not okay either if Windows somehow works with this apparently broken BIOS. Note that if it isn't viable to enable a workaround always, one possibility is to DMI this machine and invoke a platform-specific workaround. [Bug 8680] Suspend/resume fails/stalls until keyboard interrupt occurs
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8680 --- Comment #24 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-12-14 20:51 --- I tested 11 S3/wake cycles when on battery with wireless enabled, I'm using 2.6.24-rc4, with HRT and NO_HZ. I believe it is fixed at this point. I have to say suspend resume is much more usable now that i can wake the T43 with fn key or power or lid switch reliably. Thanks for your attention. I'll have to leave it to someone else to mark this fixed because I didn't file the bug. [Bug 9151] Something broke cpufreq on laptop with lid behavior between 2.6.17 and 2.6.23
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9151 [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What|Removed |Added CC||acpi- ||[EMAIL PROTECTED] ||et Summary|Something broke cpufreq on |Something broke cpufreq on |laptop with lid behavior|laptop with lid behavior ||between 2.6.17 and 2.6.23 --- Comment #7 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-12-14 20:51 --- When AC power is unplugged, the system clocks to its lowest speed but it also throttles to 25%. I don't want the throttling and have to un-throttle it by hand. I've seen this bug before in the SuSE user-space. Somebody got the idea that T-states save energy, so they enable them when on battery. I thought that they fixed it, but apparently they only disabled this nonsense on MP systems, and UP systems remain broken. There should be a check box someplace in the powersaved GUI to disable this. The mystery is why you didn't see it also in 2.6.17. Also, if the system is idle and running a sane governor like ondemand, you should be in the lowest P-state both before and after the transition from AC-DC. ... The governor switches to powersave. If the lid is closed on battery power, the CPU frequency begones the HIGHEST (2GHz). scaling_min_freq and scaling_max_freq report 600MHz but scaling_cur_freq reports 2GHz. This again sounds like broken user-space policy software. See if this still happens when in single-user mode and none of that junk is running. But again, the mystery is why you don't see the same issue with the same user-space and the 2.6.17 kernel. [Bug 7783] Thinkpad 1161 43G Hangs on boot - os guess interrupt for usb device
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7783 --- Comment #34 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-12-14 21:40 --- The screen capture of the failure in comment #15 is in acpi=off mode. ACPI had nothing to do with PCI guessing IRQ10 for USB. (though looking at PCI config space, that guess was probably correct) The 2.6.9 dmesg shows... DMI not present. So probably your Fedora kernel has CONFIG_ACPI_BLACKLIST_YEAR=1999 or some other non-zero value. Try booting it with acpi=force, or building a kernel.org kernel with CONFIG_ACPI_BLACKLIST_YEAR=0. Either of them should get you into ACPI mode like your working 2.6.9 kernel. [Bug 9151] Something broke cpufreq on laptop with lid behavior between 2.6.17 and 2.6.23
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9151 --- Comment #8 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2007-12-14 22:37 --- My tests were done in single-user mode, console, no X, no laptop-mode, no dbus or hal, nothing. As far as I could tell (and I stared at ps -e for a long time) nothing could be running that was changing the CPU frequency, not even acpid. The fact that the system was thinking it was at one frequency and actually being at another (hence refusing to change) tells me it is a kernel problem. Ie, I set it to 600. It is stuck at 2000. Setting it to 600 has no effect. But setting it to 800 and then 600 worked fine.
