[Bug 9663] in 2.6.24-rc6 function keys stopped working - toshiba u300-13m, FSC V5505
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9663 --- Comment #10 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-01-07 14:37 --- I can say that: Please confirm that if you remove the ACPI video driver from 2.6.23, that the hotkey actions you describe stop working. No it`s not true! I can remove this driver and brightness keys continue to work. It work in grub also and began to work! What do you see if you revert drivers/acpi/video.c in 2.6.24 to the version that shipped in 2.6.23? Nothing happens! Expect that in .23 echo [value] /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness doesnt work but it work in .24 very well! In 24 brightness keys as I notice rty to work in console but not in X! On toshoba there are 7 states of brighness. So in console I can reduce from 7 to 0 via 5 3 1 steps and grow via 1 2 4 6 states - it`s unnormal! And it only began to work if I tune brightness during kernel booting process :) In .23 works all fn+F[1-11] + fn+Esc keys! They generate event`s in atkbd.c so I have an opportunitu to write programm to manage them - as in windows. Toshutils doesn`t work in loptops wiht phoenix bios :( . But now with .24 kernel I can`t do this. I think It would be good idea to return old .23 behavior (expect broken software brightness management in /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness ). But I don`t understand how. Is anywhere patches only beween old .23 and new .24 acpi subsutem? All other part of .23 kernel I don`t want to upgrade. The Idea is to upgrade only ACPI and see to the results... [Bug 9642] no backlight on lid open starting in 2.6.23 - nx6110
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9642 --- Comment #16 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-01-07 15:02 --- (In reply to comment #15) Based on the above analysis it seems that 2.6.22 shouldn't work well. But according to the description it is regression. Strictly based on backlight is a regression, but I have some progression on hibernation. About suspend to ram on kernel 2.6.22 had working well. I don't test it many times. I wrote on #6 that just work on 23 but now I remember that also worked on 22. I hadn't test much the S3, so I don't remember exactly when worked or not. [Bug 9711] ACPI: processor limit set error
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9711 --- Comment #1 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-01-07 22:44 --- Created an attachment (id=14350) -- (http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=14350action=view) This patch fixed this bug. This patch fixed this issue, it accepts not only such inputs as *:*, but also accepts such inputs as p*:t* or P*:T* or p*:* or *:t*, the former * in inputs means the allowed processor performance state, currently it is only a stub and not set to the processor limit data structure, the latter * means the allowed processor throttling state which rages from 0 to 8 generally. This patch strictly limits inputs to meet the above conditions, any input which can't meet the above conditions is considered as invalid input. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. - Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. [Bug 9663] in 2.6.24-rc6 function keys stopped working - toshiba u300-13m, FSC V5505
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9663 --- Comment #11 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-01-07 23:25 --- Hmm, I don;t think this is an ACPI issue then. I can remove this driver and brightness keys continue to work. It work in grub also and began to work! I can see ACPI events (lid, Power button) but no ACPI event associated with hotkeys. No hotkey events go via ACPI. I think this is probably a kerboard driver regression rather than an ACPI issue. [Bug 9163] Resume form memory suspend causes about a half a minute wait
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9163 --- Comment #33 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2008-01-07 23:50 --- I tried with hpet=disabled (2.6.24-rc6), and I saw no big differences, save one; This time, the wait happened at suspend instead of resume. Everything went normal until the s2disk: snapshotting system... message appeared. At that point I had the slow-blinking (slow as in takes one minute for one blink) cursor, and I pressed some keys to speed things up. This made the next message appear (something like s2disk: snapshot ready...), and suspend proceeded as normal. I haven't rebooted (yet) to test whether this was a one-time behaviour, or that booting with hpet=disabled makes the wait occur on suspend instead of resume. I also did s2ram a few times, which had problems as well, but on resume. I did not notice anything that I hadn't noticed without hpet=disabled before. By now, however, I am sure that the wait on resume-from-ram can only be shortened by pressing Fn-{some special thinkpad function key}-combo's, not the any-key. Furthermore, in some cases (but this is difficult to reproduce), s2ram only occurs after one more keypress, irrespective which key. In sum: hpet=disabled did not cause major differences, except the wait occurring at suspend instead of resume with s2disk. By the way, I also tried with hpet=disabled nohz=off, and then everything is fine (couple of s2disk, s2ram, no problems). I'll try 2.6.24-rc7 next. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. - Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
