Re: Need help on setting Adschedule , LanguageInfo, Website URL

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hi Vinutha,

If you are looking for the fields to use when specifying where the ads would
redirect, you can use the final_urls[], final_app_urls[], and
final_mobile_urls[] fields. Now, if what you are looking for is the URL to
display for the ad, then you can use the display_url field instead.

You can find these fields from this documentation. Let me know if this is what
you're looking for.

Thanks and regards,
Peter

Re: [Google Ads API] Overall account performance using criteria_view (migration from CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT in Adwords API)

2019-05-22 Thread Robert Heise
Hi Bharani,

thanks for your answer. I understand that multi-attribution reports can't
be aggregated. What I tried to ask is how your suggestion to use i.e.
ad_group_criterion along with metrics helps to achieve an account /
campaign / ad group overall performance. AFAIS due to multi-attribution,
the aggregate would still count some KPIs twice - so I guess using
ad_group_criterion or campaign_criterion doesn't help. Using a single
criteria type only for ad group, campaign or account level aggregations is
missing out on performance for criteria types which are not covered by the
selected criteria type. Using multiple criteria types leads to potentially
counting KPIs twice due to multi-attribution.

I wonder whether there is a way via the Ads API to aggregate from criteria
level data to an overall ad group, campaign or account performance. AFAIS
this feature is sadly missing completely in the Ads API and could possibly
only achieved by fetching separate, non-critiera level reports which
already aggregate on the desired level (?) (If so, an example would be nice
how to replace this Adwords API behavior in the Ads API...) This is quite a
big break and makes the migration from Adwords API to Ads API much more
complicated, time and resource consuming.

Regards,

Robert

Re: Creating Responsive display ads with google ads api

2019-05-22 Thread Vinutha Nayak
Hi,

I have checked the code for creating expanded text ads and also the fields
to be populated for responsive display ads. For expanded text ads, mostly
it is direct assignment for string values. However, the parameters are
totally different when it comes to Responsive display ads.

Hence my query is specifically on responsive display ads. Could you please
provide a code snippet or direct me to any sample code that has
particularly responsive display ads.

I have searched through enough in all ways possible, and I don't see ANY
help on the same for python.

Thanks and Regards,

Re: EXPECTED_FILTERS_ON_DATE_RANGE

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hello All,

I've found the source of the inconsistency, so we can work on finding a
resolution. Just so everyone has a summary of the current state, here is it:

You can have segments.month, segments.quarter in the SELECT clause with
segments.date in the WHERE clause. The result is that you'll get metrics for
your date range and the metrics will be empty for anything outside your date
range. The only one that does not work like this is segments.week, so that's
where we'll focus on getting that in line with the others.
If you select segments.month with segments.month in the WHERE or or
segments.week with segments.week in the WHERE clause or segments.quarter with
segments.quarter in the WHERE clause, then you'll only get back metrics for
that time. Keep in mind that if you picked month that if your date spans the
1st of over 2 months, you'll get back 2 results, one for each month you've
spanned.

I've run all the variations and we're working on getting that sorted out.

Now, let's see about that second question on extension settings and feeds. This
spanned multiple objects in AdWords API. So, let's take this one offline so we
don't clutter this forum thread with a separate topic. It's easier for people
searching later if there's one topic per thread. Just click Reply privately to
author on the forum with what exactly you did in the AdWords API to get that
exact result, and I can get you what you're looking for in the Google Ads API.
Just as a starter query, I've found 'SELECT extension_feed_item.resource_name,
extension_feed_item.extension_type, campaign.resource_name, campaign.id,
campaign.name from extension_feed_item order by campaign.id limit 100' works,
and I expand from there for specific types of extension feed items.

As for the performance, I totally agree with you that there's a slowdown in
certain places depending on the report, but we are very aware of it and we're
working on it. My teammate Ben posted something on it if you're interested in
the specifics.

If you want to chat further on your query, feel free to click Reply privately
to author. If you have a new question or topic, then please start a new thread
to make it easier for your fellow readers.

Thanks,
Nadine, Google Ads API Team

Report API - get one row for one group, not multiple rows

2019-05-22 Thread Chen k.
Hello,

I want to get the data from report request as one row for one group, and i
will explain by example:
I send to request that i want to get: Clicks and Impressions, split by Date
(from 14-05-2019 - 15-05-2019)
the expected result is 2 rows, one row for one date:
'2019-05-14', 200, 500
'2019-05-15', 300, 550

but, the result contain many rows, like:
'2019-05-14', 70, 120
'2019-05-14', 100, 300
'2019-05-14', 30, 80
'2019-05-15', 200, 350
'2019-05-15', 100, 200

If i set the property: skipReportSummary = false, the total row contain
total data for all dates.

Why the result comes as multiple rows,
and how can i get the result by rows for each dimension?

I hope I was clear,
Thanks!

[Google Ads API Python] - Retrieve all customers names under the MCC account efficiently

2019-05-22 Thread Jesús G
Hi all,

I'm doing a python script to get some metrics.
I have some doubts with about that:
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/account-management/listing-accounts

The problem is:

I'm working with a manager account (MCC)
To work with the accounts under the MCC account we have two options:

   1. Retrieve data for every customer doing N queries, one for each
  customer
  2. Retrieve data with the list_accessible_customers method, but this
forces me to add by hand my account to every customer under the MCC
account.

So I have a performance problem, because as first step I need to retrieve
all the customers names under the MCC account.

If I try to retrieve the information doing a IN operation, the API tells me
that I should do one request for each customer.
Also I tried to use list_accessible_customers but is not affordable,
because it's needed manual work (If I understood well the documentation).

Any suggestion about how to retrieve all customers names under the MCC
account with only one operation using a search with the
GoogleAdsService.search method?

Lot of thanks.

Offline Conversions with New API

2019-05-22 Thread Nick Smarrelli
The new API required us to make changes to the tool we use to send offline
conversions back to Google. When testing this morning we got the following
error message:

{ "errors": [ { "errorCode": { "conversionUploadError": "TOO_RECENT_GCLID"
}, "message": "The click associated with this Google Click ID occurred less
than 24 hours ago, please retry after 24 hours havepassed.", "trigger": {
"stringValue": "EAIaIQobChMIqvqS1Zyv4gIVFFuGCh2KUQdiEAAYASAAEgJTVPD_BwE" },
"location": { "fieldPathElements": [ { "fieldName": "conversions", "index":
"0" }, { "fieldName": "gclid" } ] } } ] }

The 24 hour note is throwing us off as we've never seen it before, nor has
it ever taken 24 hours for a click that converted to be send back to
Google.

Does anyone know if this is something related to the new API?

Help needed for AdWords API integration

2019-05-22 Thread Yuvraj Chauhan
Hello,

I am creating one automation application using AdWords API with PHP(Client
Library). This application is about to manage the account of others.

For that,

1). I have created one manager account(*GA1*). I am using a *developer
token* of the same account.
2). I have created one test account of Google AdWords(*GA2*). I am using
the *customer id* of the same account.
3). I have created one Google Developer Console account(*GA3*). I am using
*clientId* and *clientSecret* from project using this account and
generating the *refresh token* using the same.

But when I hit my API to find campaigns, I am getting an unauthorized
error. Am I missing anything here? Or am I doing something wrong? I am
attaching my error screenshot along with this.

*GA: Google Account. I am using 3 different Google Accounts.*

[image: Screenshot 2019-05-22 at 11.15.51 PM.png]
Any help will be appreciated. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanx,

Yuvraj Chauhan.

You may use the Store Sales uploads where you can send the offline transaction

match offline transactions with ad clicks. This could be used to upload the

Right, this is generally expected, correct? But as we will see in Steps 3
and 9, this is not entirely correct.

> I asked this information because if you are going to upload the asset

Again, the samples bellow show that this is not the case. Uploading the
same image *invariably returns the same asset* (same AssetId) or an error.

Here is the code with comments:
https://gist.github.com/atannus/1fe290255514705f14e2862de96333b1

Steps 3 and 9 are the most confusing.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Creating Responsive display ads with google ads api

Has anyone tried creating ResponsiveDisplayAds with google ads api ? I am

RE: [Google Ads API] Overall account performance using criteria_view (migration from CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT in Adwords API)

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hello Robert,

The Ads API reports are multi-attribution which means that the reports should
not be aggregated together as this might result in the metrics (Impressions and
count) being double counted. You will be able to use different criteria reports
and map the results between the Google Ads UI and the API. Since the AdWords
API Criteria Performance Report being a single attribution report, this means
that only one criteria will be attributed randomly. That means that not all
keywords will be included. This could result in a difference between the data.

Re: EXPECTED_FILTERS_ON_DATE_RANGE

2019-05-22 Thread SeriousJ
Don't listen to Google Ads API Team members. They don't have a clue either.

So for all of you struggling with this idiotic API, here is a solution:

SELECT metrics.cost_micros, campaign.name, *segments.week* FROM campaign
WHERE *segments.week* >= '2018-07-01' AND *segments.week* <= '2018-08-07

Yes, it's not consistent with queries for other date segments (like month,
year, date, etc...) But Google programmers forgot logic and consistency a
long time ago.

And one last surprise: the above query returns data for the whole week, not
just up to the last date. So if you're asking for data from week 1 and half
of week 2, you will get results for the whole week 2. Of course, it's also
not consistent with queries for other date segments. For example, if you
ask for half a month, you will get half a month. But week is different.
Why? Because it's Google and they don't care.

Re: EXPECTED_FILTERS_ON_DATE_RANGE

2019-05-22 Thread SeriousJ
There are many inconsistencies in the language. Really a lot.

You want to have fun? Tell me what's the query to get the value of all
extension_feed_items belonging to a campaign.

This new API is even more obscure than the previous one. No small feat. And
of course, it's much much slower. About 4 times slower. And of course, what
took a few seconds in the previous API now returns a deadline_exceeded
error. But not always because random timeouts feel so good. You Google
guys are champions. I'm happy we have no other choice.

Re: Retrieving split of conversions and conversion rate for Campaigns with experiments

Thanks for the response. I have found that for a specific date period that
has 3 experiments / trials appearing in Google Ads - all linked to the same
original campaign, I only get one of them back from the API. It's the last
one in the list when viewing via Google Ads, I don't know if that is
relevant. I can send you the details privately if you would like to verify?

SharedSet EntityNotFound.INVALID_ID

2019-05-22 Thread Pete Lavetsky (AdWords API Guru)
Hi All,

For the following problem I have a SOAP request ID:
0005897d05508c2c0a3f32078509c83e

I am attempting to add a SharedCriterion to a SharedSet. When making the
request, I get a response error:

[EntityNotFound.INVALID_ID @ operations[0].operand.sharedSetId;
trigger:'SharedSetId{id=1487241406}']

Prior to making this mutate request I can query the
SharedSetServiceInterface and get all the SharedSets for this account. One
of the SharedSets is that with the ID I'm told is EntityNotFound.INVALID_ID:

2019-05-22 13:08:56,473 INFO - SharedSet{memberCount=78, name=REDACTED,
referenceCount=5, sharedSetId=1487241406, status=ENABLED,
type=NEGATIVE_KEYWORDS}

I am able to add SharedCriterion to other SharedSets for this same account.

One thing I noticed about the error trigger:

SharedSetId{id=1487241406}

Usually that just looks something like the following for other Service
errors:

1487241406

I'm not sure if it's a red herring or some part of the problem but I'm
constructing this service call in the same way as other valid service calls.

Full SOAP below with credentials redacted.

Thanks

Pete

Re: EXPECTED_FILTERS_ON_DATE_RANGE

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Greetings!

First of all, thank you so much for helping out here by posting a solution that
works. Second, thanks for clearly outlining what appears to be a possible bug
in our query language. We shouldn't have date-like segments behaving
differently. So, I filed an issue over here to get that resolved. I would be
frustrated, too, if I had code acting like that, especially when getting
started. It's like being in the Matrix where you might as well ask the Oracle
what happens next, and we're not in the Matrix...at least I hope we aren't. On
the other hand, the Matrix would be kind of cool if I could defy physics. Now,
back to reality. I'll work on getting this one sorted out, and we'll update our
guides to help with making this more clear.

If anyone else finds an inconsistency like this in the new API, please tell us
either on this forum in a new thread, or you can file an issue on our Google
Ads API site by clicking Send Feedback in the upper right-hand corner and
choosing Google Ads API Product Feedback. As this new API comes online, we can
still make modifications if something doesn't seem right, so please bring these
up.

Thanks,

Re: Adwords Final Url Report Google

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hi Dominik,

Thank you for sharing the details privately. I was able to generate the Final
URL Report for May 22nd, 2019. It looks like you're using different segment
fields to pull the Cost metrics. The segment fields are used to group the
metrics. Including multiple segment fields will split the data returned into
multiple rows. If you use incompatible segments (ClickType) this might not
return values. I made a few changes to the report query to segment based on
AdNetwork Type or Device and I was able to pull the Cost metrics.

Hope this addresses your concern. Let me know if you have any questions.

Bharani, Google Ads API Team

Re: [GOOGLE ADS ERROR] - How to Fetch the Error Name and Discrepancy between Index and Number in Protobuf

2019-05-22 Thread Dorian Kind
Hi Marco,

about the first part of your question, there's an open issue on the client
library's tracker covering exactly your scenario:
https://github.com/googleads/google-ads-python/issues/110
As a workaround, you might be able to use
`google.protobuf.json_format.MessageToDict` to get the enum name.

HTH, best regards,
Dorian

Will sending conversion tracking events to Ads also set conversions for standard referral links in Analytics?

2019-05-22 Thread Scott Richmond
Right now we are sending conversion events to Google Analytics to track
conversions. Google Ads is linked to Analytics, which means our paid ads
get the imported conversions. This works but the setup is very involved and
the conversion events in Analytics use the date of conversion incorrectly
(As documented). We plan to use the offline conversion tracking feed in the
Ads API to tell Google Ads when gclids successfully convert when opening
our desktop app so the conversion dates can we more accurate. However our
concern is that if we only inform Ads then we will only get conversions for
the paid ads we put up. With Analytics we get to track conversions from any
incoming referral links as well. If we only use the Ads API will we lose
that?

Re: Google Ads REST API - Block IP Address - Get All Blocked IP addresses

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hello,

When working with JSON REST and curl, I find it easier myself to actually stick
to the protos and build the operations from there. For example, this time I
referenced campaign_criterion and criteria to find all the relevant fields. The
campaign_criterion shows that I need a campaign that is a string, a status that
is an enum, which we can pass as a string, and a criteria. With one_of fields,
you refer to the actual name of the inner field when setting it in the JSON.
Since the object I'm creating is an IpBlockInfo, I looked up the requisite
field for that object in the criteria proto. The end result JSON looks like
this:

{
customer_id: "1234567890",
operations: [
{
create: {
campaign: "customers/1234567890/campaigns/1234",
status: "ENABLED",
ip_block: {
ip_address: "127.0.0.1"
}
}
}
]
}

Obviously you will need to customize the IDs and IP addresses to suit your
needs, and you should be able to adapt this general format to any request if
you look through the protos for the fields you need.

Re: Ads api v1 - login-customer-id with MCC above client

2019-05-22 Thread Oliver
Wow.. if what Bas is saying is true, this is a major showstopper! There
might be no way of finding out info about the parent MCC because the
authenticated user might not have permission. Even if he has permission,
why does the new API work like this? It's a perfectly common scenario
for tools to want to access the data of one account without needing to be
aware of who its parent is. The old API allows this and rightly it
should. Please consider fixing major limitations like this as this is
enough to cause many apps to stop working completely.

RE: Adjusting Targeting Country Bid Modifier at the Campaign Level

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hi Ben,

Thank you for reaching out. Yes, this is possible in the API. To achieve this,
you need to create a campaign criterion using the
CampaignCriterionService.MutateCampaignCriteria() method and set type equal to
LOCATION. After successfully creating this campaign criterion, you may then
associate your campaign bid modifier to this campaign criterion.

Let me know if this helps. Feel free to write back if you have further
clarifications.

RE: Need help on setting Adschedule , LanguageInfo, Website URL

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hi Vinutha,

You may refer below for my answers to your questions :

1. I now need to set a schedule, basically specific timings for all days of
the week . I checked the "AdScheduleInfo", in the day_of_the_week, I don't
see option to set for "all" days.
What is the right way to add for all days of the week ?

There is currently no way to create an AdScheduleInfo that targets all days of
the week. You will have to create separate ad schedule criteria targeting each
day of the week.

2. I need to add "LanguageInfo" to include all languages . Is that possible ?
I don't see option for that too.

By default, all languages are already being targeted.

3. I need to add website url . It is direct merchant website url that I need
to add . If I use UI, and select say "Brand Awareness campaign" it gives me
option to add that directly.
If I am to use api, I see there are "tracking_setting" that has some url ? Is
that the one to be used.? "Campaign", also has multiple target_url and
url_paramaters and types which I am confused.

Could you confirm if my understanding is correct that what you wish is to
target specific URLs in your Campaign? If yes, you can do so by creating
multiple PlacementInfo criteria. If my understanding is incorrect, could you
provide more details so I can better assist you?

Re: EXPECTED_FILTERS_ON_DATE_RANGE

2019-05-22 Thread SeriousJ
Well, no.

This query gets me good results:

1) SELECT metrics.cost_micros, campaign.name, *segments.month* FROM
campaign WHERE *segments.date* >= '2018-07-01' AND *segments.date* <=
'2018-08-07'

whereas this query doesn't get any result:

2) SELECT metrics.cost_micros, campaign.name FROM campaign WHERE
*segments.month* >= '2018-07-01' AND *segments.month* <= '2018-08-07'

So obviously making sure "all the date segments are in the WHERE condition
only" is not a correct answer.

This query gives me the error message "Expects filters on the following
field to limit a finite date range: 'segments.week'":

3) SELECT metrics.cost_micros, campaign.name, *segments.week* FROM campaign
WHERE *segments.date* >= '2018-07-01' AND *segments.date* <= '2018-08-07'

This is not consistent with the behavior of query #1, which makes us think
of a bug.

And this query doesn't get any result:

4) SELECT metrics.cost_micros, campaign.name FROM campaign WHERE
*segments.week* >= '2018-07-01' AND *segments.week* <= '2018-08-07

Is there anyone at Google who can tell us how to get results by week?

Search Customers

2019-05-22 Thread Perry Hertler
Is it possible to use the GoogleAds service to *search* for customers?

The first argument to *search* is a *customer-id*, which seems to always
limit the results to just the associated *customer.*

CUSTOMER_QUERY = <<~QUERY
  SELECT
   customer.id,
   customer.manager,
   customer.descriptive_name,
   customer.test_account
  FROM
  customer
QUERY

client.configure do |config|
  config.login_customer_id = manager_customer_id
end

service = client.service(:GoogleAds)

# since the first argument requires a "customer_id", is it possible to search
for more than one customer?

service.search(customer_id.to_s, CUSTOMER_QUERY, page_size: PAGE_SIZE)

Google Ads Api: AdGroupAd names not being set (Java API)

`Ad.newBuilder.setName(StringValue.of(operation.name))...`

But querying the created Ad using the returned ResourceName:
`service.getAdGroupAd(ResourceNames.adGroupAd(accountId, adGroupId, adId)`

Returns an object with all the other fields set, but with the name set to
null.

Paid and Organic Report via Tableau Connector

2019-05-22 Thread Michael Doyle
Hi

I'm pulling the paid and organic report through the Tableau connector and
when I add a 'date' segment it seems to corrupt the position metrics.

Without the 'date' segment the position metrics shows sensible results
(e.g. avg 1.4 for a brand term in paid and avg 1.1 organic)

Adjusting Targeting Country Bid Modifier at the Campaign Level

2019-05-22 Thread Ben Johnson
Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to add a bid modifier to a campaign for a
specific geo target?

With device I can adjust a bid modifier on a specific device criteriaId, is
this possible with locations as well?

Similar to what is done here:
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/samples/add-campaign-bid-modifier

But use setResourceName for a specific Campaign Modifer resource with a
locationId.

RE: Ads api v1 - login-customer-id with MCC above client

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hi,

Thank you for reaching out. You would need to set the login-customer-id if your
access to the customer account is through a manager account. This header is
required and must be set to the customer ID of the manager account. To check if
the client is under a MCC, in Google Ads UI, you need to go to Tools > Account
Access(Under setup) > Manager tab. However, if you are using a root MCC, it
shouldn't be under any manager.

Let me know if this helps.

Re: [Google Ads API] Overall account performance using criteria_view (migration from CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT in Adwords API)

2019-05-22 Thread Robert Heise
Hi Bharani,

thank you for your answer. I'm not sure I completely understand your
suggestion. Do you suggest to use ad_group_criterion along with the metrics
(i.e. impressions, clicks) to get a response from the Ads API which would
be safe to aggregate on? Is ad_group_criterion using single attribution
model in the Ads API? The docs for Ads API say that no report uses single
attribution, so I wonder how metrics retrieved via ad_group_criterion would
be aggregatable across criteria types without counting KPIs twice. Please
give more detail how you think an aggregation across criteria types would
work via the Ads API using the suggested ad_group_criterion or
campaign_criterion.

Thanks,

Robert

RE: Retrieving split of conversions and conversion rate for Campaigns with experiments

2019-05-22 Thread Google Ads API Forum Advisor Prod
Hi David,

You should already be able to retrieve information of your campaign
trials/experiments using the campaign report of the Google Ads API, and you can
use the campaign.experiment_type field to identify them (ex. BASE, DRAFT,
EXPERIMENT, etc.).

I hope this helps.

Could you tell me one thing that which fields having values in micros -

   - Average CPC
   - Average Position
   - Click Through Rate
   - Clicks Per Day
   - Impressions Per Day
   - Total Cost

so that i will divide it by 1,000,000 to get actual value.
