We send a bill to the former customer, this is part of why were try to have
everyone on autopayment methods, ach or cc, we make contact with the prior
customer to see if they can get it back to us, otherwise we bill them for
it. If they put up much fight we write it off for UBNT type gear, 450 we
will push a little harder for, but at the end of the day it can easily cost
more to force the issue in terms of time and headache. If we can pick up
the new homeowner, its a wash

I certainly agree with the last paragraph. Very prevalent in Utah.
But saying someone is a “Good Christian Man” to me just says they attempt to
live their religion.

I prefer to deal with and associate with folks that truly attempt to live by
Christian ideals.
To me that is just a superset of very ethical people. Hard to find folks like
that, irrespective of religion or lack thereof.

I know a few Christians who meet that definition as well – demons from hell. I
also know many atheists who act far more Christian than some Christians I know.
And, since 1999 I’ve worked for businesses run by Jews. I’ve thus known
countless Jews who are decent “Christ-like” people. I’ve also had the occasion
to know some Muslims I’d trust with my life (including as a soldier).

I always cringe when I hear some version of, “Oh, he’s a good Christian man…,”
the implication being that means something special and thus anything other than
Christian is something less, somehow untrustworthy. It is an inherently bigoted
statement, without even the person saying it realizing it.

For me, the very last man I will trust is the one who forwards his claimed

Factually not even remotely true. The Paris attack killed many Muslims. The
attack in Ankara killed almost all Muslims. The attack in Beirut killed a mix,
mostly Muslim. The mayhem in Iraq and Syria is laying waste almost exclusively
to Shi’a Muslims, and a few Christians and some Yazidis. Even some Sunni.

Some Christians are even being allowed to live, provided they pay a special tax.

The VAST majority of people killed and targeted by D’aesh are Muslims. The same
is NOT true of all others who practice a version of Islam that D’aesh rejects.
It thus labels those people as apostate – people who reject Islam, and for
apostates, punishment is harsher than pretty much anything else, requiring
death.

Though I dont subscribe to their point of view or in any way admire their

strange beast, they will toss their wives and children into the sea as martyrs
to garner sympathy when the bodies float up on the beach, That, though terrible
to me, is admirable from the perspective of the cause.

Though I dont subscribe to their point of view or in any way admire their
actions, I do have to admire their dedication to their cause, martyrdom is
a strange beast, they will toss their wives and children into the sea as
martyrs to garner sympathy when the bodies float up on the beach, That,
though terrible to me, is admirable from the perspective of the cause.

Re: [AFMUG] OT Cats are Christian - Who knew!

2015-11-23 Thread Patrick Leary

It thus labels those people as apostate – people who reject Islam, and for
apostates, punishment is harsher than pretty much anything else, requiring
death.

Route 66 is pronounced root 66.

I have a good friend from their. They always call it the root you take, so it
makes sense that if the device is determining the "root" the packets should
take, then it's a rooter. Haha. It does sound very funny to me.

If you have kids that watch Thomas the train, they call sir topem hat "the fat

Only because of that song.

And here if you want your mail delivered, you refer to “US Highway ABC” or
“State Route XYZ”. If you just say Route 23, the assumption is SR23, not US23.
 And it’s “rowt”.

Don’t pay any attention to those Brits. Look how they pronounce
“Worcestershire”. Can’t even pronounce their own language.

Re: [AFMUG] Fiber patch cable: LFNC v Outdoor

2015-11-23 Thread Eric Kuhnke
Some licensed band radios like Bridgewave come with a 3/4" or 1" liquid
tight non metallic conduit fitting on the radio head itself. It's just a
circular hole in the radio body so you can install your own conduit fitting
for another type of fitting or a gland if desired. I typically use duplex
3.0mm armored (coiled steel) 9/125 G.652.D LC patch cables inside the
liquidtight. This stuff:

http://www.ecablemart.com/armored_patch_cord/listing/?cable=Duplex_a=LC=9%2F125%20OS2%20Singlemode_b=SC

Other radios like the Siklu 1200F have their own much smaller rubber gland
and compression fitting, in which case it's way too small to use
liquidtight flex conduit, so you do want a weatherproof armored patch cable
that has its jacket directly exposed to the elements.

  11GHz licensing is a joke.

I pulled my Ceragon 1Gbps link because of the inability to get the full
license for the full spectrum needed for this radio link.

I think it was over $40k when I bought it.

Does anyone want it for some reasonable price?

I think the dishes were 3'.

  Ceragon IP20c 11G 60MHz

I'm still trying to work a deal to get the full license for the link path(s)
I want, but honestly there are too many squatters and complaints from Rise
(Digis) every time I try that I'm about to give up.

It's in Utah, so shipping would be crate, unless someone local wants it.

It's been used a few months on a path using half capacity this summer.

  Give me a reasonable offer.

best I got this morning Lol...anything lower than -56 would have been
fine according to Dragonwave.

[AFMUG] Looking for a Ticketing System

2015-11-23 Thread Nate Burke
This is for a personal project, but I think most of the things are the
same that a WISP would use. I'm looking for a Ticketing/Asset tracking
application for building management. Something where people could
submit tickets, like 'The Door to room 200 won't close correctly' that
can be tracked, logged and closed. Also managing things like Emergency
lighting battery replacement, so be able to query something like 'show
all Emergency lights with batteries older than 3 years'

Money/accounting side of things is not really important, unless it's
like to associate a cost to closing out a ticket. Like in the example
above 'Room 200 needed a new door handle, $12.95 at Home Depot'

I really have no idea what's out there for ticketing/management these
days, so places to start looking would be helpful. Or is there a better
way to manage/control a building?

The Person I'm replacing (at my church) currently keeps all these things
in his head, and I think it's going to be a pretty rough transition. So
as long as there is a paradigm shift happening, getting a sustainable
system in place for tracking and management I think will really help
going forward.

I think it was over $40k when I bought it.

Does anyone want it for some reasonable price?

I think the dishes were 3'.

Ceragon IP20c 11G 60MHz

I'm still trying to work a deal to get the full license for the link path(s) I
want, but honestly there are too many squatters and complaints from Rise
(Digis) every time I try that I'm about to give up.

It's in Utah, so shipping would be crate, unless someone local wants it.

It's been used a few months on a path using half capacity this summer.

Give me a reasonable offer.

+1 on Plex. It is my own private Netflix. I stream it using my Chromecast,
Roku2, RokuStick, and a browser. Works great everywhere and pulls in all of
the meta data for any titles you load up. It organizes everything too. You
can literally just drop all of your content into one folder and it sorts it
out. I take it only one step further and have a sub folder for myself and
another for my wife to keep our stuff easily segregated.

Re: [AFMUG] do you guys install CPE's in the winter time?

2015-11-23 Thread Jeremy
We work in all weather. From -18 degrees to 4' of snowhere in Utah.
We work rain or shine. However, it is up to the installer to determine if
each install is safe or not, and he can reschedule if he isn't
comfortable. Usually we work off of a ladder or we get on at the peak and
'scoot' along the top straddling the peak. We wear thermals, flannel lined
pants, and Carhart coveralls. If we held up installs for weather, we'd
never get anything done.

Re: [AFMUG] OT Cats are Christian - Who knew!

2015-11-23 Thread Patrick Leary
I’m not offended, but I do want to make a point.

For me, the very last man I will trust is the one who forwards his claimed
religion as a reason to trust him. I prefer people who don’t require God
looking over their shoulder to do the right and ethical thing.

I would attempt the reasonable guy approach first. Contact former
owner/customer and get their story. Tell them they are liable. Get them to

Nope,
for the most part the ones still on it dont have any issues either.
We had a bunch over the years of moving to 2.4 or 3.65 that were either
marginal or

in desperate to watch netflix.
I know of one customer that has setup a spooling server to store the
movie of his selection

then watch it at his leisure all done on 900fsk.

Much of what is done in the name of religion reminds me of “Lord of the Flies”.
And that was before social media.

If 12 year old Wisconsin girls can stab a third girl almost to death to impress
“Slender Man”, just think what people can be convinced to do (or can
rationalize) because someone says it is God’s will.

At least the Crips and Bloods, or the Bandidos and Cossacks, don’t use religion
to justify their violence.

[AFMUG] rooter?

2015-11-23 Thread That One Guy /sarcasm
im watching a video on mpls by some British fellow, he pronounces router as
rooter, is this the case on the other side of the pond? Is there a true
pronunciation or is it just a matter of regional dialect?

Re: [AFMUG] rooter?

2015-11-23 Thread Brett A Mansfield
I have a good friend from their. They always call it the root you take, so it
makes sense that if the device is determining the "root" the packets should
take, then it's a rooter. Haha. It does sound very funny to me.

If you have kids that watch Thomas the train, they call sir topem hat "the fat
controller".

Thank you,
Brett A Mansfield
