I have been looking at ICT. The ICT600-48SBC Power Supply and the
ICT200DF-12IRC distribution panel. This with a Netonix would do everything.
We have sites with Telrad so the distribution panel will allow them to be power
cycled when necessary.

Anyone using ICT? Bit pricy though, looking at $1,600 plus…

Need a solution where we can power cycle DC powered radios.

It's a little spendy but about how about 1 $670 option? Alpha Cordex PSU 24V
400W.
Remote monitoring, e-mailed alerts, swappable rectifier, DIN mount, etc.
Add a Netonix switch and you can power just about anything.

There is a problem when installing two of these units side by side in a shelf.
There may be some interference between the jack pins on one board and the jack

This can be fixed easily and we have modified our production process to solve
this problem, but we know a few of the REV F boards have shipped.

Please check your inventory/received orders and let us swap it immediately.
Good thing is this has the best return loss and NEXT of any product I have ever

I have waited to post this message on behalf of WECAT to allow for the storm to
pass, the flooding to hit the high marks, and the initial life and death rescue
efforts to be completed. In situations such as this having people rush in to
help in an area that cannot deal with extra people is not always welcome. We
all feel for the situation but any help to be rendered needs to be carefully
planned and coordinated so as to not overwhelm the people we would try to

To that end if anyone has a WISP network in the storm effected area or knows of
a WISP who is overwhelmed by the damage and needs assistance, please fill out

That’s just wrong Faisal to perpetuate this on this list. There were a lot of
great things you could have stated here:

Was AT on the guys property without permission?
Safety of the guy in the bucket while someone is shooting the tires out.
Safety of the guy in the bucket while engine/controls get shot out
How the ground guys handled the situation
If you allow your crews to pack heat were they in the right to defend themselves

You get where I’m going but this list has no place for this political BS. The
sad part is you sent this to the list.

That is a very interesting explanation, Thank you.

I finally re-read an IEEE magazine enough times to understand the OAM
propagation. (Orbital angular momentum)

If you have missed it, for the past 20 years there have been thousands of white
papers written on a type of radio signal called OAM. It looks a lot like
circular polarization but the interesting thing is that you can use the same
frequency for multiple streams that do not interfere. In theory an infinite
number of streams.

So, here is how I got it explained to myself so that I could understand it.

Using a special antenna, each wave front is launched like a smoke ring. And
the wave itself , or integer multiples of the wave are like little snippets of
string formed into a ring. That is the smoke ring. As you traverse it around
the ring the phase of the smoke changes. So think of it as taking a n-lambda
foot long chunk of the radio signal. Chop it out like a long piece of baloney
and join it to its self. Then set up some kind of launcher that can throw
these rings of signal at the other end, not like a frisbee but like a pie in
the face.

Different numbers of wavelengths can be chopped out of the baloney and joined
up as a ring. If you have rings from one transmitter made out of two
wavelengths and rings from a different transmitter of three wavelengths, they
can all use the same frequencies and they will not interfere with each other.

The downside is you have to have some really complicated funky antennas at each
end and they have to be aimed up perfectly. The antenna center must be in the
center of the smoke ring to receive it properly. If it is off to the edge it
will not have the clean separation from the other rings with different integer
multiples.

Should work for very high frequencies over short distances. Like 10 GHz on up.
They are doing it with lasers. I have see the 10 GHz antennas. They look
like the internal parts of a rotary snowplow.

Does anyone know if these support -48VDC? It doesn't look like - or + are
referenced to ground, but before I blow something up or create a stupid issue
down the road, I figured I'd ask.

Re: [AFMUG] Semi OT: Selling web browsing history

2017-03-30 Thread Dustin Jurman
Answer to your question Adam is no.

The “Super Cookie” is an interesting point to bring up because it’s something
that was done on the device and they just so happen to be a service provider.
Obviously this can be done by any of the folks that create OS’s and works way
better with social media platforms. Microsoft, Android, any Linux Distro,
appliance and Apple could do the same thing as well as your local neighborhood
hacker.

Sadly I agree that this has pointed many fingers at ISP’s that know better than
heading down this road and have no dog in this fight. The few that want this
are hiding under the label as ISP.

Has anyone here been offered money for data on clients web browsing or other
online activity? Have you ever sought and found a company that would buy it?
Is there a known case of an ISP doing this? I'm betting all 3 are "no".

A couple of friends are going nuts on Facebook about the reversal of a law that
would prohibit ISP's from selling or sharing various types of data. The law
was signed under the previous administration, but never took effect. Until now
I'd not even heard of it.

I singled out the most vehement one and told him to calm down. I told him of
all the types of data we'd be prohibited from sharing (Medical, financial,
social security etc) we don't actually have most of it to begin with. Of all
the cited things we're allegedly "allowed" to share/sell, the only thing I
conceivably could produce would be a web browsing history. Ok, so if I wanted
to sell that, who's buying? I argue that you should be more worried about
Google and Facebookwho really do have access to a crapload of your data.
And what is so secret in your browser history anyway?

One person brought up a case of a Verizon Wireless "Super Cookie" (X-UIDH
header inserted into HTTP requests). A case where incidentally the FCC told
them people needed an opt-out option and fined them $1.3mil for not having
it...without any additional rules. And the so-called super cookie only
allowed web services to uniquely identify the device and key their own data
around itVerizon wasn't "sharing" anything.

Ultimately I don't care whether there's such a rule or not. It seems
irrelevant. It's like a rule telling me not to share my space shuttle with
anyone. I'm like, "Sure, no problem."

If there's a reason I should be excited/alarmed, someone please educate me.
