Jaime, Did you check the FCC license?

What someone may have told you the radio is supposed to do may not be in line
with the Max power/modulation of the license.

Yes...checked with owner and Comsearch rep..actually the guys that hired me
did the leg work.apparently the first integration company made
changes...the previous IT guy left no documentation. New guys are

If this is the one with the fading or periodic outages problem, they probably
dialed down the modulation hoping it would stay up.

But why did they dial down the power? If they were smart enough to know
that dialing down the modulation would help a marginal link, why didn't
they know they weren't operating at the licensed power?

Something's definitely not right there.

Re: [AFMUG] 18 GHz update

2015-03-11 Thread Glen Waldrop
I've had the occasional board where I got higher modulation speeds at lower tx
power, though at least one of them was because I didn't do a great job
soldering in new caps.

To lock it at 16 doesn't quite make sense. Seems like you still don't have all
of the information.

May well be that once you turn the transmit power up and bump the modulation,
the unit may start rebooting or knitting sweaters or something crazy.
