Well this was clearly unintentional. But also, it's a legitimate action.
If anyone else is interested in this office I'm happy to cede it to
them, or deputize and take it back over later.

DIS: [Proto-Contract] The Protector of Stones

2021-08-02 Thread Trigon via agora-discussion
This is an idea for a contract allowing me to auction off usages of the
Protection Stone. It's a bit unwieldy (hah) and I'm also fine to work
out smaller temporary deals by private means.

{{{
Any player can join this contract. Players CANNOT leave this contract
during auction time.

The owner of the Protection Stone is known as the Protector. The
Protector CAN, during free time, amend this contract with notice.

Protection shards are a class of untracked, nontransferrable assets,
ownable only by players. At the end of each Agoran month all protection
shards are destroyed.

The Protector CAN, during free time, start an auction for a new
protection shard. The Protector CAN distribute prizes for such an
auction if it is within the final day of the Agoran month, regardless of
the definition of the auction method e chooses. Parties to this contract
consent to acting on behalf for transferral of assets pertaining to this
type of auction.

The owner of a protection shard CAN destroy it to act on behalf of the
Protector to wield the Protection Stone, specifying all required
parameters.

It is free time while there are no auctions ongoing which were started
by this contract. It is auction time when it is not free time.

DIS: [Promotor] Quick Update and Apologies

2021-08-02 Thread Aspen via agora-discussion
Hi all!

I've had a very busy few days, culminating in the internet deciding to stop
working right when I was trying to assemble a report yesterday. That being
said, I expect to have a draft report out within the next ~16 hours, and a
full report not too long after that. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Well I'm sure I don't know why to avoid CB specifically - if you've got a
sense of the card's value and the offer matches expectations. I haven't
seen any numbers on the table, so wouldn't want to prejudice anyone.
After all, if you're not in a hurry to sell, "get at least two offers"
seems like a good rule of thumb regardless of whom the first offer is from...

I think the point was that selling to anyone else would probably be
preferable to selling to Cuddlebeam.

"Recommend against" might be too general. Selling might be a good
strategy depending on your goals (e.g. whether you're trying to win this
time versus selling for coins to hold, and use the coins to win next time).

The value of these things can be highly volatile. If you've got the last
card needs for someone else's win, sky's the limit (or at least say 2000
coins based on past wins). But on the flipside, value becomes 0 if you
hold too long and a win happens.

Most recently, the last auctioned victory card went for 629 coins (which
was probably artificially low due to the risk of gaining the other, much
less valuable auction item). The top bid in the current auction (for one
VC) is 1717 coins, with multiple bids higher than 1000.

At the very least, if you're selling you'd *definitely* want to consider
multiple offers for a single card, hugely multiplied if you're thinking of
selling your focus grant ability.

Falsifian, thank you for responding.

I have to announce that I intend not to actively participate in the
discussions via email, IRC or Discord. By limiting myself only to
interaction via the business list, I want to create a situation to
learn

only by direct interaction with Agorans bounded by the Ruleset.

So, after this message informing my fellow Agorans about this
strategy,

I'll be silent here until I am unable to proceed with my strategy or
decide to change it. Of course my previous remark about creating too
much

noise still stands. Not sending messages myself, doesn't mean I am not
open to messages from others.

Cuddle Beam, thank you for interest in me.

However, I do not consent to the contract "AYO WASSUP DWET". According
to Rule 1742 I will not become a party of it.

Also, I am not interested in selling my Victory Card and/or Focus gains.
Since they are in the Welcome Package I assume they have value, but I
can't estimate how much yet. Therefore I hold on to both of them.
