2009/5/24 Kerim Aydin ke...@u.washington.edu: No, but for your lack of respect, if you do so: 1. I will never vote for you in an election; 2. As an officer, I will use the nickname for you of disrespectful idiot. It will be unique so it will clearly identify you in my reports. Up to you! :P -G. I nominate myself for every office. Campaign speech: people will get nicknames like fluffy bunny with a stick and $...@*^ and the most idiotest player that ever was.

My Notary reports generally use the nicknames for people that they had when they joined the contracts in question, because a global search-and-replace is not very easy on Wikidot. I hope you don't mind that too much... (You're free to update the Notary wiki yourself, if you want to exact a nickname change there.) I appreciate it - certainly don't need to revise history on my account (I was actually a little surprised back when Michael set a precedent and did it for Taral/eris in the FLR), just thinking of going forward. For others: I shouldn't have to say this and I can't speak for JCMF Edward, but I mean my nick change as seriously as Taral meant eirs a while back... never felt that Goethe suited me much anyway, it was a nomic in-joke c.a. 1992 I've never been an especially die-hard fan of Johann Wolfgang. And I will remember what G. stands for so you don't have to. -G.

My official name is You May Call Me Big Fucking Edward, and was ehird before that. On 2009-05-25, Sean Hunt ride...@gmail.com wrote: Kerim Aydin wrote: On Sun, 24 May 2009, Geoffrey Spear wrote: I CFJ on: The nickname 'Goethe' unambiguously identifies the player who generally sends messages to the list from the address 'ke...@u.washington.edu'. Sure it does. So does Kerim or G. or maybe G at the moment. Using a nick (or in this case a nick for a nick) that a player selects for emself (when doing so is not a burden for the recordkeepor due to length or overfrequent switches) is simply a mark of respect, courtesy and politeness. You can choose whether it suits your purposes to use such manners when you play. My view is that Goethe is in fact what you selected for yourself, and unless you express a serious desire not to be addressed by that name (I do not believe that changing your nick to a series of random buzzwords expresses a serious desire to be addressed by that name rather than Goethe), I don't go wrong by addressing you by that name. If you seriously want me to address you by that name (likewise, if Warrigal and ehird seriously wish to be addressed by Tom and Arnold, respectively), then I will, though I will likely have to abbreviate the longer names. And coppro, I apologize for the earlier semi-pledge. If it suits your purposes, such as they are, to use a previous name for me, I'm happy to overlook it. I'll probably forget sometimes too. Hopefully I'm popular enough that I don't need your vote. :P -coppro

I'll continue to abbreviate my nickname using G., and will use that in my own reports. I will continue to pronounce it Gravity Circumference Line Deja Vu Cardboard Duck e^(-kt). However you choose to pronounce G. (Goethe, Gravity or otherwise) in your own mind or universe is outside of my control, it's merely a reflection of the respect you decide to grant to others and how others see you in response. Looking at at least some reports, I don't see that too many have had trouble with Tom (nor some of us for that matter remembering Abraham Delacy Giuseppe Casey Thomas O'Malley when the need arises). I can't speak yet for YMCMBF Edward (e.g. I already got it wrong in at least one past post). -G.
