[MCN-L] Exhibition Schedule Timelines
I use a very basic online project management tool called iteamwork. The free version hasn't been updated since the dawn of time, but it does everything I need, and I've had no problems in the 7 or so years I've been using it. I use it for forward plan and accreditation rather than exhibitions though. The paid version allows you to download the software, or host on their private server. Licensing is according to number of users. [Evolution] Current message pane doesn't update
I'm running Evo 3.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. It's set to have a current message pane open below the message list pane. I'm often finding that when I click on a message, the message pane doesn't update, even if I change to another folder. The only way is to close Evo and relaunch it. I can double-click the message line and open the message in a new window, but this isn't as convenient. Anyone else had this? [ubuntu-uk] Swindon Hackspace at Museum of Computing
Latest update on the proposed hackspace: = I'm Jamie, I've been working with Simon on the proposed hackspace at the Museum of Computing in Swindon. We are having a meeting at the museum on Wednesday 30th May at 7pm, to discuss the hackspace with anybody who is interested in coming along. Links for directions can be found at the bottom of this mail, please let us know if you will be attending so we know how many to expect. Thanks to everybody who returned a questionnaire, from that feedback we will initially run a weekday evening Hackspace from 6-9pm, most likely each Monday. We may survey those interested upon which weekday is best before confirming the day. Unfortunately, it's not possible to provide open/24hr access as it is not a full time dedicated hackspace and the museum is usually closed when we'll be wanting access. There may be the possibility of adding additional meetings if the demand is there. Also, we can arrange adhoc meetings if required for some event or other initiative. Other items to discuss: * Preparations needed for work area * Best evening, Mon-Fri, on which to meet * Terms of access to hackspace, including opening times and entry/membership fees * Suggestions for presentations you'd like to see, or can give (or know someone who can) * Types of projects that you see being carried out and what equipment you need, or can provide. * Collaboration with other Hackspaces or similar initiatives (Artsite) * Events we could hold, or attend elsewhere If you're unfamiliar with the museum, we're opposite the Swindon Model Centre on Theatre Square, between Swindon Central Library and the Wyvern Theatre. Museum location : http://maps.google.co.uk/?q=The+Museum+Of +Computingcid=1649343045243643722 Regards, Jamie Osborne === All welcome to this meeting - let me know if you want to attend and I'll let Jamie know. [ubuntu-uk] Hackspace at the Museum of Computing
We're looking at the possibility of starting a 'Hackspace' at the museum in Swindon town centre. A Hackspace (or Hackerspace) is a place where like-minded people with an interest in technology (electronics, computers, robotics, programming, electronic art etc.) can get together, collaborate, share ideas and resources and make really cool stuff! If you are interested, or know somebody who might be interested then please email hacksp...@museumofcomputing.org.uk and we will send you a very short questionnaire to see how much interest there is. [ubuntu-uk] Netbook Ubuntu v. plain Ubuntu
A friend has asked me to look at her husbands netbook, which is running Linux. He bought it from Tesco two years ago, so I think it probably *is* Ubuntu. His problems are mainly that it doesn't recognise USB devices when they're plugged in, and it downloads updates but doesn't install them. He wants to do more than email and web browsing, which is all he feels he can do at the moment (it has shortcuts on the desktop for email and firefox). If it's two years old, and he hasn't upgraded, will it be pre-Unity? As I've never used a netbook, only Ubuntu on desktops and laptops, will I be able to find my way around it? She thinks his cunning plan is to break it so he can buy a new one, but I don't want to be the one that breaks it! :) TIA Dianne -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

The next year I told her brother to email his coursework to me from school - needless to say, he didn't bother, the system crashed, no backup, no coursework, he too got very low marks. For my third child, it was very much a case of You've got a free period - go and teach GCSE IT! And this was in a school which is one of the very best in our town, and which I'd recommend to anyone - except for IT. And yet it can be exciting, school visits love looking at the old machines, looking at how components and machines work, putting pieces together, learning about the impact on business, on our social lives. [Bug 593367] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in get_glyph_items_in_range()
Evo is crashing several times a week, each time with a different message. Often I'm on another desk, so all I see is the evolution has closed box and the apport reporting box. When I am actually using evo during a crash, I can usually tell it's about to happen as it responds extremely slowly - as I delete emails, the are shown with strikethrough rather than disappearing straight away. When I am using it, it's always just to read emails - I rarely use the calendar or switch to contacts view. Apport seems to have filed my other crash reports at Bugzilla, eg https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=619179 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #619179 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=619179 -- evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in get_glyph_items_in_range() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/593367 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I've used www.byethost.com (that's not a typo!) for four years - five sites on free hosting, and one on paid. I've found their uptime reliable, and speed good.
