Hi Dustin, - snip - Where shall I add -b option? Thanks modprobe -b says respect the blacklists. Hi Liang, Thanks for your advice and link. Host - Debian 5.0 KVM libvirt run kvm-nbd VM/vm30.qcow2, modprobe nbd nbd-client localhost 1024 /dev/nbd0 then you can use /dev/nbd0 as a block device like /dev/sda I've write a little essay on how to install Debian on kvm image, FYI: http://blog.chinaunix.net/u/7667/showart_2112267.html I can't find kvm-nbd and nbd-client. I have nbd installed already. $ yum list nbd Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit Available Packages nbd.x86_642.9.13-1.fc12 fedora $ which kvm-nbd /usr/bin/which: no kvm-nbd in (/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin:/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/home/satimis/bin) $ which qemu-nbd /usr/bin/qemu-nbd $ which nbd-client /usr/bin/which: no nbd-client in (/usr/lib64/qt-3.3/bin:/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/home/satimis/bin) I suppose qemu-nbd = kvm-nbd ? TIA I've made business cards with GIMP: I wrote a script to generate an image of the right aspect ratio, then another script to take one such image and turn it into an image with the right aspect ratio to be a US-Letter sized page to print with gutenprint. (It also does various other types of labels, not just business cards.) You might have to adjust the offsets a bit for your templates and printer. Here are the scripts: http://shallowsky.com/software/gimplabels/ To be honest, it's probably easier most of the time to use a program that's designed for making labels and business cards, like gLabels; or design one business card in gimp then import it into gLabels for printing (or Open Office, even). Anyway, lots of options.
Hi Akkana, Thanks for your advice and script. It is quite interesting. I can finish preparing and printing simple business cards on OOWriter. For professional cards with graphics, I'm now search a solution to edit it on different layers and merge them after finish. If I found a solution to the same then I can edit professional business cards on OOWriter. Otherwise I have to do the work on GIMP or Inkscape and import the image on OOWriter for printing. I did lot of graphics editing 10 years ago before turning to Server side, working on CorelDraw, Corel PhotoPaint, PhotoShop, Illustratior, etc. Because I don't expect injecting too much time and effort on this simple task, I started searching around for a simple solution to finish the work with a few clicks. Re: Problem on creating root password
Hi Maciej,
See the error log for details of why the server stopped. It is usually located either in /var/log (or its subdirectories, such us /var/log/mysql) or in mysql data directory, which in your case is /var/lib/mysql. Update and install new packages immediate after installation
Hi folks, FreeBSD-6.2-amd64 Just finished installing the captioned OS which is now working. There is no major desktop running on the OS, such as KDE/Gnome/Xfce, as well as some other necessary applications. I'll erase the OS soon to make another installation with new partitions arrangement. On the 2nd round I'll also make the same installation. Please advise after installation completed how to read on CVS on the website to fetch fresh ports and src tree that I need installing further packages and updating the system. Also how to read about its package management and how to startup. I expect first to update the system before doing any further installations and/or customizations. Pointers would be appreciated. Hi folks, I have jboss-4.0.4.GA-src.tar.gz download and decompressed it with; # tar zxpf jboss-4.0.4.GA-src.tar.gz # cd jboss-4.0.4.GA-src/docbook-support/ looking around in this directory and can't ascertain which doc shall I refer for installing JBoss application server. [jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - A beginner seeking for advice
Hi folks, Just joined this forum. JBoss is completely new to me. I expect to explore it getting to know its application. Please advise; 1) Which packages shall I download for testing at start? 2) I shall run Ubuntu-alternate-6.06 as OS. Unless I must build the OS myself then I shall head LFS - BLFS. Can I use OS off the shelf? 3) Do I need Eclipse to run JBoss application? 4) What will be the package on JBoss equivalent to Crystal Vision and Xcelsius, dashboard, of Business Object 5) Are JBoss packages available on 64 bits? [jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: A beginner seeking for advice
Hi PeterJ, Tks for your advice and URL The link http://www.alexandriasc.com/software/JavaService/index.html providing Javaservice is not working anymore. Any alternative? Tks. anonymous wrote : I run on Fedora Core 5, so I cannot comment directly on Ubuntu though I recall seeing some forum posts from Ubuntu users. . The JVM that comes with Linux distros is usually insufficient to run JBoss (or any app server), so you should also get a JDK from http://java.sun.com. A 1.4.2 JDK is fine, but if you plan to do any EJB3 work, you should get the 1.5 JDK. I also have FC5_64/32 bit boxes. On FC5_64 box running; $ yum search Java 5 LVM and $ yum search jboss They can't be found. Any repo carry with them. Or I have to download them from respective website? anonymous wrote : 3) No, but most people developing for JBoss use Eclipse or NetBeans. There is a JBoss-specific Eclipse plug-in at http://labs.jboss.com/portal/jbosside/?prjlist=false.If I understand your advice correctly. Eclipse is the platform for developing JBoss not for my application. Others noted with tks.
