i make sure i put a coppy of everything i have on an external hardrive. then i 
coppy everything on that one to a second external hardrive. may sound crazy but 
it's been forever and a day since i lost any material.

Aha. I should try that with the supposed discord sound files too as they
have no extension and I can't even figure out what format theyr'e supposed
to be. I want to change the sounds as I don't like them.

file data itself has been replaced with with 0s or perhaps some altogether 
different data. Even though you wouldn’t' be able to make anything of it, have 
you tried opening one of these in a text editor to see if it even still *looks* 
like an mp3?
