These are not Jaws shortcuts, but you can find everything you need in
the Goldwave help and check the view menu as well.

Yes, seems very strange.
I think the goldwave forum is still active -- maybe you should try posting
there? You m ight get some better ideas.

Hi JM. Thanks very much for your thoughts. I'm afraid your suggestions
- which are great - have already been covered. I've tried re-starting the PC a
couple of times, and the only background software running during the period of
the issue's presentation is Jaws. Unfortunately, it does seem to happen pretty
regularly, especially when I've set a start marker and am trying to pause again
in order to set a finish marker (or even if I just try setting the marker
without pausing).

Anyway, thanks again for those ideas... Any other suggestions from anybody will
again be really gratefully received.

Take care, Danny

Re: [all-audio] Issue with GoldWave Start/End Markers

2022-08-20 Thread JM Casey
I believe you can set several zoom levels by pressing ctrl and the nubmers 1
through 0. I don't think this is a JAWS-related/scripted keystroke. I have mine
set very small because this also controls the granularity of movement when
moving the markers with ctrl-shift arrow keys and so on.
If you look in the manual for Goldwave, you should find some useful information
about zoom levels.

Hi John. Thanks for coming back with this one. This is roughly what I was
wondering about, but I have never done anything to do with the zooming before
and I’m therefore unsure how it works. I also am not sure of the jaws shortcuts
for implementing different zoom levels and for checking the current level. Are
you please able to advise any further? Cheers, Danny

Re: [all-audio] Issue with GoldWave Start/End Markers

2022-08-19 Thread JM Casey
I feel like I've had this happen once or twice, maybe. Definitely shouldn’t'
have anything to do with your processor or anything related to your system --
goldwave doesn't demand that many resources.
Is this a consistent problem? You tried rebooting? Maybe unload some background
programmes.

Subject: [all-audio] Issue with GoldWave Start/End Markers

Hi All. I hope you are doing well.

I've just installed the latest version of GoldWave on a new Windows 10 desktop,
and I'm using it with external speakers plugged into the base unit and the
latest version of Jaws. I'm finding that, when I press F7 to pause the output
in order to place a start/end marker in a given position, it occasionally works
immediately but often has a second or two of lag before it implements the
command. I've checked the play/device attributes (F11 shortcut), and they match
those on my old laptop apart from the output device being the external speaker
rather than an internal one. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be
causing the problem? Of course, I assume it could be a speed issue with the
processor of the desktop, but as it's newly-created with very few pieces of
software I assume this isn't the case. Could it be something to do with a
difference between laptops and desktops, or is it something to do with the
View/Zoom settings, or is there anything else that comes to mind?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Take care, Danny
