I cannot reproduce the problem with the attached ample file. Are you shure that
this only works from the scratch or with a special step in between (what I may
have missed out)?
Please re-check. Thanks a lot!

I choose to install OpenOffice, years ago, using a sort of "Network" install.
>From that install I could do local installs.

I have since removed the locals successfully (using the local directory
installer "Setup" interface).

However, in Windows registery, as well as the 'local Setup' program that
deinstalled 'local' so well, just go into a 'install' mode.

Install is a snap, now 'deinstall or uninstall' (I found that issue and see we
only speak of uninstall now) :)

-- I suppose I could just delete the directory, and find a registry sweeper to
clean up the registery, but what other files on the system.

--- Perhaps an option in the newer versions would be to check for old installs
and offer the possibility to uninstall them properly.

--- Screen shots follow

I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m125) German version WIN XP: [680m125(Build8947)] and
can confirm the unexpected effect. If you perform attached testfile.odt (click
space several times), you will never see lines 2 and 3.
I am not sure whether that's only unexpected or a real bug.

Looking at the solution for i42530 I wonder whether introducing circular
dependencies (core01 depends on core02-core10 and core02-core10 on core01) was a
good solution for the initial problem.

Shouldn't writer, calc etc. simply depend on _all_ core modules (including the
'u' ones) ?

Decimal arithmetic allows you to go beyond the numerical limit of the underlying
computer hardware in basic arithmetic operations (i.e. addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division).

My primary goal of this effort is to create a new data type in C++, with
semantics similar to built-in double but with support of arbitrary-precision
decimal arithmetic, to overcome the limitation of binary floating-point
arithmetic used in most computer systems today (float, double data types in
C/C++).

I propose inclusion of such new data type (tenatively named "Decimal" data type)
into the main code base so that it can be used in situations where a calculation
with extra precision is needed.

For details and download of current implementations, please visit

http://kohei.us/ooo/decimal/

Note that the current implementation is terribly slow, so it still needs massive
improvement in the performance department.

Kohei

In the Insert menu, you can choose 'Picture...' from the list but in the Edit
menu, the undo action is called 'Insert Graphic'.

The action description changed since the 1.0 release from 'Graphic' to
'Picture', I think that the text files that 'Undo' pulls from just got missed in
the change.

This bug (conversion of editing time statistic with *.doc files) is still
present in second beta build (1.9.125).

However, I was wrong in asuming that open document format doesn't have day
count in this statistic.

This is stated in meta.xml of an opendocument file:

  P34DT0H24M53S

In the statistics window, days are converted to hours (correctly).

When opening a word doc within OOo the layout of the document is not as per the
orginal DOC file. Headings appear in different places within OOo

Similarly when I reverse the issue that is to say I create a file using the OOo
word processor and then open it within Word again the placement of the headings
adn consequent headings are in the wrong places.

I want to take my company away from Msft but I can not use OOo commercially if
my customer proposals cannot be formatted reliably to read or display on MSFT.

See examples attached

Calc currently shows where page breaks will occur by drawing a grey line at the
point of page break. This feature can be enabled / disabled by selecting Tools
==> Options ==> OpenOffice.org Calc ==> View ... and then selecting 'Page
Breaks' in the 'Visual Aids' section.

The problem is that these grey lines to indicate where page breaks will occur is
quite hard to see when the spreadsheet already has grey lines ( ie in cell
borders ) in it.

It would be great to have the option of displaying these page break indicators
as dotted lines ( maybe even coloured ) instead of the current unbroken grey
line.

Thanks :)

Some more information concerning this potential bug:

If I close the document after putting back the scrollbar and rulers through
going to the Options, and then re-open the document immediately afterwards, then
the rulers and scrollbars are still there (because the doc is still in the
cache?).

The rulers and scrollbars are also still there if I open other documents
immidately afterwards. This is with the Quickstarter enabled.

But if I exit the quickstarter and open any document again, then the scrollbars
and rulers are gone again. So it seems like OpenOffice now, all of a sudden,
somehow forgets the preffered preferences regarding the rulers and scrollbars.

BTW: regarding the "=" vs "def" issue: "def" is what is written in the document.

Unless you can give a step-by-step instruction on how to reproduce this error
(i.e. how to make OOo not save the entered formula but a different one), nothing
can be done about this.

But given the fact that OOo doesn't only truncate the formula, but replaces it
by something different, I guess it is due to a faulty/partial crash recovery or
some other influence.

closing since OOo doesn't do anything wrong when opening or editing the attached
document.

This is an interesting feature of Office 2003:
The default toolbars are on the same line, so there is more space available for
the document.
Of course, some buttons of both toolbars aren't visible (ideally the least
used).
What's interesting is that when the user click on one of the hidden buttons,
this button will be shown on the toolbar (and an unused button will then become
hidden).
This is an easier solution for the user to get personalized toolbars.
The user can also choose to show the toolbars on two lines if he doesn't like
this feature.

This issue is worksfrome.

The content of the document only contains the "shorter" formula, so somehow the
preview-image got out-of-date.

Maybe the formula was edited using a macro or something without updating the
preview, or there was a crash and the recovery took an updated image and the old
formula-"source" or vice versa.

In any case: OOo doesn't truncate the formula, but corrects the display of the
formula to reflect the actual contents of the document.

Form the document and the description it is impossible what went wrong. I can
only tell that the formula is already truncated in the file.

Since a couple of weeks, OpenOffice Write 1.1.4 have all of a sudden started to
hide the scrollbars and the rulers in the user interface each time I open a
document, both through opening directly from the desktop and through clicking on
.doc e-mail attachments.

I then go to the Options and turn them back on, but the problem keeps coming
back time and time again. Obviously some change in my system (e.g. a new
installed software or similar) must have caused the change, but I have no idea
which change. Seems like a major bug. Thankful for any help.

When editing several Microsoft format documents, hitting Quit brings up the
dialog "This document may contain formatting or content that cannot be saved in
the Microsoft PowerPoint 97/200/XP file format. Do you want to save the
document in this format anyway?"

This dialog should indicate which document to which the dialog refers.
With multiple documents open, I might not want to save all the documents and I
might not want to save all of them in Microsoft format.

Please add the full document name (including path), as there may be more than
one document open with the same file name, but in different directories.

sorry to tell you, but this issue simply is not handable.

Reading the description takes a vast amount of time thus nobody will bother
having a look at it. As you already know, other issues exist already dealing
with this problem wich are much more concise and much easier to understand.

Please also note that many people dealing with issues are not native-english
speakers.

The ideal issue is short, has a step-by-step instruction, focuses on one single
problem.

In order to get this going, I kindly ask you to file a new issue (if you and
stephenburnett don't use the same printer, please file two new issues!).

Please (only) state:
* Version of OOo
* Operating System & Version (Patch-Level)
* Printer Hardware-Model & Printer driver's version (including language of the
  driver)
* Attach a sample document (with envelope) that you tried to print)
* Name the printer settings you make (default window settings and the settings
  you do in OOo)

optional (when the printer is a postscript-printer):
* attach the resulting output of printing the file with OOo AND the resulting
output when printing an envelope from another application (given that printing
from that other application works as expected)

Please understand that I don't close this issue because I don't realize the
importance of this issue. It is just because this one cannot be handled
properly.

I read you explanation why this behaviour shouldn't be considered an error
..
you say that "there are no formatting set in the first line"... sorry but THERE
ARE formatting set... they are the default one ("normal" in Ms Word)

when in microsoft Word you select a "normal" formatting with the format
paintbrush, that formatting style (altought it is the "normal" one) will be
carried by the brush on anythinghyou are going to drop it...

the user of a WYSIWYG program shoudn't check which is the formatting style under
is mouse he simply choose one and drag it onto another one whith the
brush

if you do not want this issue be classified as a DEFECT, please transform it as
a request of feature...

consider that the tools we are "cloning" is the Ms format paintbrush, and that
the normal behaviour is the one I have described to you.
The Normal/default formatting style is just a particular formatting style, and
so it should be processed as all the the others by the format paintbrush.

Giuliano

sb: I rebuilt the tools without debug and the installation is completed with
success message. So I think my main question is about the ---revoke message,
does it matter and how can the java command be changed?

I will attach a log from the completed installation build, and my complete
patches of solenv. Now the console log reports preregistered but there is no
output from that step. The product runs, the wizards function with some issues
(spreadsheet database tables are read-only. font-ooo runs but does not save the
fonts.) The four different gij on my machine are detected.

kcarr, please see this as issue as another example. too quick of cvs work refers
to me as being the reason this was performed, after a TELEPHONE conversation. I
found this one particularly embarrassing, because actions were performed that I
would never have done, and my name was assigned. it all adds up, and it gets
old. I wish ALL communications regarding ooo work could be kept on the public
lists! It seems unfair of you to ask otherwise, to me.

ericb->tra

Just changing bool in BOOL (ie for some false and true), I have tested all
adapted for 1.1.5 all give correct results :
- opening all Applets fond in demo.zip (from
http://java.sun.com/openstudio/demo.zip) using Safari
- testing all available wizards.

I have even tested first fix from Patrick with 1.9.125 and last from Tino with
1.1.5rc3 in same time ! Opening both a clock and a banner (looks like two clocks
in the same time is not possible ;-) )

Found nothing else, excepted, playing withsound, a (non reproductible) :
soffice PaHost_StartEngine: AudioDeviceAddIOProc primary failed : error =
0x6E6F7065 = 'kAudioHardwareIllegalOperationError'

I found no documentation about kAudioHardwareIllegalOperationError in XCode
documentation, and "PaHost_StartEngine: AudioDeviceAddIOProc primary failed"
comes from portaudio library, and is located in pa_mac_core.c Maybe a little
bug with sound ? (or a bad move from my part)

I'm not sure this is the final state of this fix (too complicated for me), but
sure, you Tino, and Patrick, have made a great work.

Thank you very much!

FYI: The JMF is not a plugin, so it will not be used when you use
Insert|Object→Plugin.

To insert a movie using the JMF choose Insert|Movies & Sound.

I doubt that this crash is really JMF related. JMF itself rejects the movie as
not supported, the same occurs when using OOo's mediaplayer (which uses JMF). So
no crash or something.

Please check whether the crash really has something to do with the JMF (remove
the jars from OOo's classpath or disable java and try again).

You may also try whether your browser is able to playback the video using the
quicktime plugin.

I'm writing basic macros in oocalc. When the macro executes, if an untrapped
error occurs the basic window will open (or if already open will get focus),
and the offending line will be highlighted, but no error message pops up
reporting what error occurred. Only way for me to determine the error is to
trap the error and read error$ (Which, as I reported in issue 54061 always
comes
up in german.)

To reproduce:
Enter macro code to generate error, such as
x = 0
y = 1/x

Run the macro (I am running it by pressing a button control on the spreadsheet).

I am running version 2.0-pre (build 1.9.110 installed with SuSe 9.3 Pro).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select a full column by clicking on its header
2. Copy the selection

Result:
The full column (65536 rows) is copied

Expected result:
Only the first rows are copied (until the last rows which isn't empty)
This is the Excel's behavior

At present when a text is selected the pulldown menus in the toolbar for font
color area and highlight synchronise with the selection. CHances are that the
user will want to change the color if the button is used and it is better to
leave the last used one in the quick selection (e.g. if I last used red2, the
button should allow me to select red2 immediately).

I can confirm this with German 1.9.125 on WinXP. If you choose the file import
filter 'doc', it opens fine.
If OOo cannot detect the filetype when no filter is selected, then there should
be no error message, but the dialog to choose a filter should come up.

I'm writing basic macros in oocalc. In the basic window, if a syntax error is
found, when I switch focus back to the oocalc window, a slew of pop-ups come up
reporting the syntax error, so many and so fast that the only way out is to
kill
soffice.bin.

To reproduce: In oocalc basic window, enter something like "x=9/0" then hit
compile. An error will pop up. Click okay and then switch to the oocalc
window.

I am running version 2.0-pre (build 1.9.110 installed with SuSe 9.3 Pro).

AFAIK this is a bug, as it differs from VB6 behavior and is not very functional.

This is the scenario: error is trapped and sent to error handler, error handler
creates new 'on error' handler, second error is not trapped as it should be.

The following example should report "TEST" and "TEST2", but only reports TEST
followed by an untrapped error. (I presume this is the case, but my version
does not seem to report errors - it just stops and highlights the offending
line
- no pop-up telling me why.) FYI I am running this in an oocalc macro, version
2.0-pre (build 1.9.110 installed with SuSe 9.3 Pro).

on error goto test
x = 0
y = 1/x
exit sub

test:
on error goto test2
msgbox "TEST: " + str(err) +" " + error
y = 1/x
exit sub

test2:
msgbox "TEST2: " +str(err) +" " + error
exit sub

There is no formatting set in the first line, so there is nothing to copy. You
cannot use the format paintbrush to remove a formatting. To remove a formatting
mark the text and then use "default formatting" in format menu.

Import of Excel 5.0 files is without problems, central European characters are
imported correctly.
Problem is with the export to Excel 5.0 and Excel 95 formats, after reopening an
exported file some central European characters are replaced with sign '?'.
Export to Excel 97/2000/XP format is OK.

How to reproduce the problem:
1. Open the attached 602tab.xls (it should open correctly and you should see
Slovak text there exactly as in the correct_characters.pdf – I am using it for
the reference (CE fonts might be needed on some systems) )
2.“Save as” with Excel 5.0 format
3. After reopening you will notice the problem.

And I forgot to mention I was missing this "delete button" because it is
described in the german help file of OOo writer.

After having a look on the xml inside the odt I saw that a bibliography entry
is
saved each time inserted. I first thought that each entry will be saved once in
the document and everywhere a bibliography entry is used in the document there
will only be a LINK to the main data of the entry, not saving all data every
where X times...
So I saw if I want to delete an entry, I have to search for all places where I
added the entry with the same ID and delete each...

So I now changed to the bibliography database to have a central management of
my
bibliography entries. When I change one, then it asks me to change all. This
works with bibliography entries in DB but not with bibliography entries in the
document ONLY. (I hope my description was not too confusing... however if yes,
tell me!)

Cannot open files with renamed suffix in WindowsXP
To reproduce the error, call up 1.9.122 writer, and enter the text "Hello" with
a carriage return.
Save the file as "hello", type Windows97/2000/XP (it gets saved as "hello.doc").
Close the file.
Go to a Windows prompt box and rename Hello.doc to Hello.doc_orig
Go back to the OO writer, and attempt to open Hello.doc_orig
I get Read-Error.

OO writer 1.1.4 has no problem with it.

Different word processing programs save .doc backup and/or temporary files by
using different additions to the file suffix. For example, appending a tilde,
or ".sav" or "orig". I do it myself by adding whatever letters and/or numbers I
feel like using such as appending .aa1, .aa2, or whatever, to the end. I need
my OO writer to still be able to open the files.

Can I trust that, like 1.1.4, the 2.0 version will be able to?

Thanks

TRA: There is another race lurking around in my opinion. The second thread need
to wait until the
native run loop in the primordial thread is actually running before calling
SVMain. In theory it might
be possible that Java AWT will be used already with the know unpleasant
consequences. I use busy
waiting to synchronize both thread which should be no problem in this case. Any
comments?

When I "open" (file - open) a .doc document (make with MS word XP) the word
processor crash and the program don't work any more (I need to kill this
process).

If I "insert" (insert - file) the same file (.doc document) in a new document,
all is ok, and I can work normaly.

I have the 1.9.124 build of the open office program install in SuSe Linux 9.3.

thank you for all

For some reason my description of this problem did not go in with the
submission ... here it is

I installed OOo 1.9.125 and opened a document previously created in 1.1.4. It
contained a Custom Paragraph Style for numbered paragraphs. It used a Custom
Number Style List. Both the paragraph style and the number list style are in
the new document. If I add a paragraph to the existing list, the numbering
works fine. If I create a new paragraph and then try to assign the style to it,
the numbers do not show up.

submitted a file in which the format paintbrush does not work.
Try to copy the format of the first line and to apply to the assigned line.

no way to make it work... you'll have to change the format manually...

[udk-issues] [Issue 41695] Basic instruction Get pro duces a syntax error

Perhaps I have missed something in the bug reports, but I am using OO 2.0-pre
(build 1.9.110 installed with SuSe 9.3 Pro), and this bug is still present.

The get statement produces a syntax error (using it with a binary file, haven't
tested with random). Also, when I switch back to the oocalc window, the syntax
error keeps popping up in both the oocalc and basic windows repeatedly, so fast
that the only way to regain control is to kill soffice.

Related: the "line input" command fails to return an error when it encounters
binary (non-text) data. Instead, when running in an oocalc macro, the basic
window will open with the "line input" command highlighted, but with no error
displayed. This is even the case when it is within an error trap. The error
is
not trapped.

For example, consider if the "test.htm" file is corrupt and incorrectly begins
with these bytes: 0x1F 8B 08 00 00

on error goto errx
open "test.htm" for input as 1 'same result if opened as binary
line input #1, a
close 1

In my thinking it should return an I/O error (which would be trapped). As it
stands, there is no way to trap it and the macro stops. With the get command
missing, there is also no way to read the file and verify it is a text file.
