SBA: Please tell a little more to track this down:
 - What schell do you use?
 - What locale is set?
 - Does X-clipboard work (pasting current selection by middle-mouse click)?
 - What happens when pasting to other applications (i.e. the text editor on that
system)?
 - What happens with a copy-paste from the text editor to OOo?
Please comment, thank you.

Put PL and myself on cc.

Here is ms's shorter test case stripped down to extremes, still producing
the same error message after running, editing and running it again (sorry, I
did not work through pitonyak's long test case).

Sub Test11
  IIf(true, 0.0, "")
  IIf(true, 0, "")
End Sub

Remarks to stripping down:
1) It is not necessary to change the name of the sub, inserting a line break
will do just as well.
2) The first argument of the IIf (ie the condition) does not have to be a
variable to reproduce the error.
3) IIf works without using its return value.
4) If the first argument evaluates to true, the third argument does not seem to
interfere with the error, only the second argument counts.
5) The exact type of the arguments does not matter, the only thing required is
that the second arguments differ in type.
6) Run ms's code once, edit it, then run it again and again, the error will
occure at different rows! I found that in order to reproduce this oscillation
effect, at least 4 IIfs are needed:

Sub Test11
  IIF(true, 0, "")
  IIF(true, 0.0, "")
  IIF(true, 0.0, "")
  IIF(true, 0, "")
End Sub

I can organize and send further interesting test cases I have found if it helps
solving this issue.

Monday. Crash Day. Sigh. At this stage I can't tell if it the Ctrl+V or the
arrow key navigation that crashes the app. But I can frequently tell when it
is about to happen because a Ctrl +C will take 8 seconds to copy a string of a
few characters.

Now I see what you mean. Indeed, the alien application can not recognize the
locking mechanics, and I see no workaround to let them recognize it except using
the file system locking.

We could try to track the current file system lock status ( without locking file
) in addition before saving/closing to be sure that nobody has the file already
open. That would also give no 100% guarantee, although it still probably makes
sense to do so.

I completely agree that the office should be a reliable application ( is there
anybody who would disagree? ). The problem is that we have two scenarios, one
works unreliably with system file locking ( heterogeneous networks ), another
works unreliable with own file locking mechanics ( mixed editors environment ).
Since the first scenario looks to be more important, the own file locking is
integrated.

 5. command-A

Select, then copy to Clipboard, text relating to something that you are seeking.

= Expected =

> command-a should select all text in dialogue: File | Open… | Go to the folder…

= Priority =

As Spotlight is fairly omnipresent in Mac OS X, so broadest compatibility of
OOo with Spotlight is desirable.

What is the process required to submit a feature request to the features
committee?

Notes:

1/ Its disappointing to have to raise a feature request to fix (what is for us
at least) a significant bug with major data integrity issues.

2/ Also disappointing that major issues may be so lightly dismissed. It gives
the unfortunate appearance of shutting down dissent.

Of course ooobasis3.0-bn-IN-help should not be built but
openoffice.org3-bn-IN-3.0.0-9358.i586 should not have dependency on it.

In Writer, when I scroll the text to view other parts of a long document and
the caret goes beyond the screen, if the autosave function kicks in it scrolls
text back so that the caret becomes visible again.

This is very annoying if I am editing one part of the document that I need to
cross-check with another part without moving the caret, if I just scroll using
the mouse wheel, and get randomly thrown back to the place I am editing.

While using OpenOffice, I managed to successfully make a 30-page .ODT document.
However, I needed this document somewhere else - but that place does not have
OpenOffice, it has Microstoft Office.
While converting to a Windows XP .DOC document, the program stalled in about
10% of the progress bar (Exporting). Then it displayed a popup message that
the "C++ Runtime had been requested to terminate this application in a unusual
way". After pressing the OK button, OpenOffice took some time to close.
There was a Recovery period on the next time I used OpenOffice, but it only had
the .ODT file, which is no good.
I repeated the process several times, with the same result.
I also repeated it with the minimum amout of other applications running - same
result.
If you manage to resolve this problem, can you send me the .DOC file by e-mail?
Thanks.
P.S. Request for the .ODT file will be answered ASAP - please leave a receiving
e-mail address. (I can't work out how to attach to this issue).

I just downloaded the latest version (3.0) and it still does the following:

Put some text on a slide and select it

Click on the Custom Animation in the Taskbar panel at the right side and press
the Add button

Click on the Emphasis tab and select Change Font Color

Then give a color (I selected Light Red)

Save and close.

Reopen the presentation and then select the item under the Custom Animation tab
and you will see that it has changed color.

There seems to be a bug the numbering of headings in OOo300m9 under XP Pro with
all patches.

1.
Enter three paragraphs:

Heading 1
Heading 2 (just to have another level)
standard text

2.
Look at "Tools, Outline numbering", for level 1 and 2 there are linked the
paragraph styles Heading 1 and Heading 2.

In Navigator are shown Headings 1 and 2.

3.
Modify both paragraph styles Heading 1 and 2 by selecting "Numbering Style"
Numbering 1.

The paragraphs "Heading 1" and "Heading 2" seem to be correctly numbered. But in
the dialog "Tools, Outline numbering" there are no longer linked paragraph
styles for level 1 and 2, only "(none)" is shown.

In Navigator the paragraphs "Heading 1" and "Heading 2 (just to have another
level)" are vanished, only "empty" paragraphs are shown.

Also in "Insert, Index and Tables, Index and Tables, Table of Contents, Outline"
shows for level 1 and 2 only "(none)".

4.
"Undo" and likewise setting "Numbering Style" of both paragraph styles Heading 1
and 2 to "none" deletes the numbers in the heading paragraphs, but in the dialog
"Tools, Outline numbering" for level 1 and 2 "(none)" is shown and no correct
Table of Content can be made.

In MS Excel =ADDRESS(1;1;;1;"Sheet1") is a valid formula. The third parameter
defaults to 1. However, when importing an XLS file or when entering this formula
in OOo Calc 3.0 this results in an error value.

Importing the same XLS file in OOo 2.4.1 worked fine. --> regression

Not duplicate but connatural are issue 95381 and issue 95742.

...rightclick the column header and choose "Column Width..."

...select at least one other column together with the one that is extra wide and
drag the width of the other.

AH .. didn't realise Word didn't support comments in footnotes.

However, I am not sure that this is just an MS development issue. It's a
compatibility issue. (What say Microsoft don't add this feature?) Openoffice
seems to have put a lot of energy into improving OOo Writer/Word compatibility.
I just wonder if there's not something that can be done here? If people who
convert to openoffice then realise that Word can't read notes they have inserted
in OOo, they are likely to return to Word, simply because most people use it.

One big PROBLEM is that if you insert a note in a footnote in a .doc document in
OOo, save and close, and then reopen the document in OOo, then the note will
have disappeared. The note you inserted in OOo will no longer be visible in OOO.
Is this not a problem? (I worked all day on something recently and lost all the
notes I added. It was .doc becaue I wanted to email it to someone afterwards.)

Secondly, isn't it a good thing for whatever content you add in OOo to be
visible in some form in Word, despite Word's limitations? Could notes inserted
(using OOo) in footnotes in .doc documents not appear as comments following the
footnote number in the main body of the text, for example, with a little
'Comment re. footnote 3' added in? (I am no programmer - just giving a users
perspective.)

Alternatively, if someone is working on a .doc document and they try to insert a
note, maybe a warning could appear: 'WARNING: .doc documents don't support notes
inserted in footnotes. Your note will not be saved if you close this document'
??? Maybe the warning could appear the first time they add any note in an .odt
doc. 'WARNING: if you later save your file as .doc, some of your notes will
disappear'.

Yep, that's the right one. Unfortunately, you had slideshow running with HW
acceleration turned off, so the directx canvas had no chance to extract the
device id. Please re-run slideshow with hw accel turned on, and
"BlacklistCurrentDevice" set to true in the canvas.xcs file. Sorry for the
hassle ;)

So I can only repeat myself: one is a field triggered by a condition (Hidden
paragraph). The other is an attribute of characters. 2 different things. which
have only in common the word "hidden".

Just like Foot*notes* have nothing to do with notes...

Since years there is no misunderstanding about those different element and we
don't document the way: "please don't mix up A and B."
BTW: in the help, under Index you'll find a clear difference between those
elements at: "hidden fields display (Writer)"

The PDF export filter dialog deceives the user into thinking DRM bits
effectively restrict all users of the PDF file being exported.

However, this depends entirely on whether the applications that will be used to
open these files implement user restrictions or not; in fact, the majority of
PDF viewers don't (evince, kpdf, xpdf, google docs, go-oo...).

Attached patch resolves this by adding a short note in the dialog, and a
slightly longer explanation in the corresponding help page.

Can confirm with OOo 3.0 (OOO300m9) and OOo 2.4.1.

Problem seems to be, that using the arrow-keys for entering a cell reference is
erroneously recorded as using the arrow-keys before starting to enter the
formula.

davidhoria, please indicate your OOo version.

I don't see how you can call this report invalid. Clearly there are problems
with understanding the
distinction between the two kinds of hidden things. This is a usability
problem, and it should be fixed by
a coordinated effort at UI control naming and documentation.

The behaviour is absolutely correct!

A1 is a relative reference. For your use case you might want to use $A$1 as an
absolute reference.

Please look for references;absolute/ralative in the index of the program´s
online help. This is not a speciality of Calc but a common feature of
spreadsheets: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spreadsheet#Cell_reference

"A typical cell reference in "A1" style consists of one or two case-insensitive
letters to identify the column (if there are up to 256 columns: A-Z and AA-IV)
followed by a row number (e.g. in the range 1-65536). Either part can be
relative (it changes when the formula it is in is moved or copied), or absolute
(indicated with $ in front of the part concerned of the cell reference)."

Issue is invalid.

Yet, I am not sure about the validity of your formulas for calculating Easter.

But for sure, you are making mistakes:

First: Dec 31, 1899 in Calc is day 1, not day 0
(In Excel Jan 1, 1900 is day 1)

Second: You must not compare to Excel, because Excel suffers from a well-known
date-bug. Excel assumes 1900 to be a leap year. But that is wrong! So, a
difference of DAY(x) for dates before March 1, 1900 is due to a bug in Excel!

In Excel the date Feb 29, 2009 does exist. But in reality this date does not
exist!

I tend to close this issue as invalid.

---
Years whose division by 4 equals an integer are leap years. But, years that are
evenly divisible by 100 are not leap years, unless they are also evenly
divisible by 400, in which case they are leap years. For example, 1600 and 2000
were leap years, but 1700, 1800 and 1900 were not.

1. Take a draw document and write some Text with the T tool. Convert the Textbox
to polygon or curve.
2. Click on the object, to get green handles.
3. Open the "Mode" toolbar and select the tool "Distort".
4. Fetch the handle at the right side of the object, not the corner, and drag it
up. Watch the guide lines.
5. Release the handle.

The object jumps back and is the text is slanted horizontal.
Expected behavior: The text is oblique in vertical direction as the guides has
shown.
Try the same in SO7 to see how it should work.

I see that Issue 83117 has been filed for the same bug. A patch has already been
submitted there, so we ought to close this issue. Does it get closed as
"Duplicate", even if it's an earlier issue than the one it's "duplicating"?

ENVIRONMENT

I'm using OO 3.0.0 m9 (Build:9358) with the german translation on Windows
XP Professional SP3 (Microsoft Update enabled).

My files are saved on a network share (Samba 3.0). The user is not an
administrator, but has enough rights to write this network share. All programs
can modify the contents of this network share, except OO.

I was not using any of the pre-release version of OO 3.0. I deinstalled the
lates OO 2.4.x release and did a fresh install of the final OO 3.0.0 release.

PROBLEM

I can not save new files to network shares nor am I able to modify files
on network shares. While trying OO reports the following error message:
"Fehler beim Speichern des Dokumentes Unbenannt2: Kein Zugriff auf Objekt.
Aufgrund fehlender Rechte kann auf das Objekt nicht zugegriffen werden."

I can verify this with CALC, DRAW, IMPRESS, MATH and WRITER. BASE does NOT have
this problem.

This problems does not seem to be related to the file name. I tried several,
including very basic file names like "test".

STEP-BY-STEP

SAVE NEW FILE
1. Start CALC, DRAW, IMPRESS, MATH or WRITER
2. Open a new document (file->new)
3. create some content
4. save this file to a network share (file->save as)
5. an error message appears (see PROBLEM above)
6. the file is NOT saved to the network share

MODIFY FILE
1. Start CALC, DRAW, IMPRESS, MATH or WRITER
2. Open a document from a network share (file->open)
3. OO shows "write-protected" in the title bar
4. you can not modify the content

Drag'n'Dropping a file to OOo3 Start Center doesn't work if the file is dropped
over a non-blank area, i.e. dropping over buttons, any kind of text, or over the
main menu doesn't work. Dropping over any blank area or outside of the start
center (but not over the menu) works as espected.

This issue is always repeatable using any file coming from Enlightenment File
Manager (part of Enlightenment DR17), latest SVN, and binary version of OOo 3
(OOO300m9, build 9358, x86_64).

Bundled extensions are not allowed to ask for a licence confirmation as - as you
found out - it does not fit into the idea of an automatic installation. So we
have to fix it in the description.xml.

If the submitter insists on the confirmation we have to unbundle it.

Installed OOo 3.0 (OOo_3.0.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz) on Ubuntu 8.04
Hardy.
At first everythings seems to work, I can start any program via the menu entries
in the GNOME applications menu.
However when I double click a document in nautilus filemanager OpenOffice starts
but then freezes. I only get the taskbar an a window frame.
Additionally when I go to Tools -> Options -> Java the program freezes, too.

I checked the issues 52774, 85955, 53850 and 85955 which sound similiar but I
was not able to resolve ist.

I have user accounts in LDAP and home directories on NFS. I played around with
NFS and file locking and also moved a users home to a local filesystem, which
didn't resolve it.

When I create a local user in /etc/passwd then everything works, start via
nautilus and the Java dialog are OK.

So my workaround is to put a line every user into /etc/passwd until this is
resolved.

I also played around with the libdb, which was mentioned in some of the other
issues, without success.

I have got /usr/lib/libdb-4.6.so and
/opt/openoffice.org/basis3.0/program/libdb-4.2.so.

Could there another library involved?

Regards
Thomas

For me this bug is quite an issue...

I'm using a yellow-to-white axial gradient as a background in most of my
presentations.

Now i've come to this very nasty bug which shows me my gradient as an overlay
of two gradients from
transparent to the target colour (as it is normally generated), but the
transparent colour is respresented
by a fuchsia/magenta-tone colour and the magenta-part reaches over the edges of
the rectangle and
spoils the whole page.

I suppose that this issue is linked to the topic discussed here - therefore my
comment.
But just changing the colours doesn't help since it will allways produce two
fuchsia-to-target colour
gradients...

BTW OOo 3.0 on Mac OS X 10.5.5

I hope it'll be fixed very soon since a lecture is on schedule :-(

Date function DAY/TAG calcualtes wrong?

Application test
Calculate Easter Date

Long version
=DATUM(A1;3;28)+REST(24-REST(A1;19)*10,63;29)-REST(KÜRZEN(A1*5/4)+REST(24-REST(A1;19)*10,63;29)+1;7)
or
"=DATE(A2,3,28)+MOD(24-MOD(A2,19)*10.63,29)-MOD(TRUNC(A2*5/4)+MOD(24-MOD(A2,19)*10.63,29)+1,7)"

short version
=RUNDEN((TAG(MINUTE(A2/38)/2+55)&".4."&A2)/7;0)*7-6
or
=ROUND((DAY(MINUTE(A2/38)/2+55)&".4."&A2)/7,0)*7-6

both versions should calculate the same date from 1900 - 2099
31.12.1899 set day 0
debugging shows diffs in DAY-Function (short version calculates wrong)

 Excel Calc
TAG(58)= 27 (XL) = 26 (Calc)
TAG(56,5) = 25 (XL) = 24 (Calc)
TAG(55)= 24 (XL) = 23 (Calc)
TAG(59,5) = 28 (XL) = 27 (Calc)

January has 31 days as we know, so Calc is not quite correct...

I marked some word by yellow colour. After opening of the file in Word 97 it is
not possible to unmark - to change background color to white.
