In letter-based language, if user change the text direction, the letter direction changes as well (usually clockwise 90 degree). However for ideograph language (Chinese), no matter what user set for text direction, ideograph direction never changes. This RULE is correction followed in OpenOffice Draw when paper is portrait but went wrong as described above, when paper set to landscape (should not happen). Try open the attached odg file and try set paper to be portrait and see the difference. HOWEVER, although it looks wrong, it prints right. adding the complicity. Please check the attached print output and screenshot to see what I mean. The print (correct) is different than screenshot (incorrect). Font being used is Droid Sans Fallback. Unfortunatly when you create it (and this needs to be done daily because the values aren't saved (see bug #100655) the Secondary Y Axis has no relationship to the values of the Major Y Axis, and these have to be redefined manually by double clicking on the right Y axis. This occurs with line graph charts of various types. I don't know if it occurs for all charts. This is a major annoyance because it has to be done daily so that the chart can be screen printed and posted elsewhere. Recreation: 1.Create a Line graph chart with a long column of data (I'm at over 150 rows currently). 2.Select the Chart and Define the Major Axis, give it Ninimum=0, Maximum=500, Major Interval=100. 3.Select the chart, Select Insert -> Axes, and under Secondary Axes, check Y axis. The Y axis appears with data that does not coordinate with the Major Axis. 4. Compare the default values inserted on the Secondary Y axis with those on the Major Axis. They default to Minimum=0, Maximum=12, Major Interval=2, which does not coordinate in any way with the Major Y Axis. Partial Work Around (limited to Vista & templates only):
SUSPECTED PROBLEM: user profiles that were automatically uploaded from OOo
2.4.1 to 3.0 were corrupted. I suspect corruption occurred in update to 3.0,
since most of the profile settings had worked previously.
SUMMARY: Deleting the corrupted user profiles in which Ooo's
File>templates>organize>commands>new
were not working and then doing a full, clean re-installation of OOo 3.0
corrected the problem.
CAVEATS:
1.This worked for me on Vista SP1 32 bit. Your results may vary.
2.Restore steps are incomplete: The steps have not been tested on profiles with
extensive customizations (clip art, macros, database, scripts etc) My
customizations were limited to about 20 templates & 3 dictionaries (I did a
fresh download for the dictionaries).

1 Setup
1.1 Download the latest version of OOo 3.0

or the desktop.
1.3 Repeat for each user profile

4.1 Double click the OOo 3.0 icon (or select OOo from the Start menu) & go

A4 is the correct page size, the printer supports this page size and other applications use this page size. The page settings for the document are A4. File -> printer setup->properties->page size offers Letter, Executive, A5, Com-10, DL, B5 (in that order). The same settings are offered from file->print->printer-properties-page size. This occurs with writer, calc, impress. Same behavior with oo3 from openoffice.org Language/Region setting is german (de_DE). Printing system is cups. What I found so far: with the update to suse 11.1 I switched to the printer driver provided by the manufacturer (brother model hl1230). This driver comes with a different ppd file than the ppd's from cups. I created a second cups printer (for the same physical printer) using the ppd from the cups distribution. With that printer, oo3 offers the correct printer properties (page size and resolution). What I do not understand: why only oo3 has a problem with the native ppd from brother. Does oo3 interpret the ppd on its own?
