This holds especially true on Gnome. If you terminate the network connection via Network Manager then Gnome will notice the change and work correctly, so will OOo. Right away the language statusbar control says: Mutliple Languages and if u open the Format/character dialog you can see that no language at all is set (applies to all three language boxes). However since you don't have the VLC plugin it wouldn't help you. Alas, there is no switch to turn off plugin support (for debugging purposes I probably should add one). At the moment I think the only method to check whether this crash is caused by a plugin - and if yes, which one - would be to move the plugin directories from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins to a different directory temporarily so they cannot be found. If one of those plugins causes the crash, then moving it away should show which one. Just move them back to get the now missing functionality again.
