Of cource, you also need, storage space, network connection, etc for updates. 1. Open Writer of that version. 2. Window with Untitled 1 - OOo-dev Writer will appear. 3. If update notification icon is not displayed on the upper right corner of the window, 4.elect Help Menu, and then Select Check for updates 5. Click the update notification icon. 6. you will see Check for Updates dialog. Click Download. 7. After Download Completed, Click Install 8. Modeless dialog with OOo-dev 3.2 as its title appears,telling us To Install the updates, OOo-dev 3.2 needs to be closed. Do you want to Install the update Now. User cannot see that window (and don't know about it at all) because question window is just a last in Z-order of all windows and keeps backwards until user minimize or close all other windows. Only after minimizing all other opened windows (including explorer) user can see question window. The *BIG* and *SERIOUS* problem is the totally incorrect registry permissions on the *root* of HKCR impede non-admins to read the registry and use the correct file associations of all applications on the PC. Unfortunately this problem is not solved and I had to correct it again after the same symptoms came up as soon as I install the latest OO available.
