First area of problems... I used a wizard to pre-format the controls, but this preformatting cannot be reproduced manually. Once the wizard formatting is changed, it cannot be restored to look like the wizard's product. Other formatting features are unpredictably available or not available depending upon complex constraints. Affected features include (but not limited to): 1) Text box background colors (not even the same list of colors as the wizard!) 2) Text box background scheme: Wizard correctly fills text box only, and not the label outside it. However, manual editing has a bug that causes label text to also receive color background. Looks horrible. 3) Alignment 4) Border Second area of problems... Labels for field text boxes get cut off even though there should be plenty of room. Algorithms (both vertical and horizontal) are absolutely poor. Please make it possible to specify the width of each half of the field text boxes so that the labels do not get cut off and so that the text boxes can be made smaller compared to label width. This technique is able to circumvent the WMF format limitations in certain scenarios. Impact of this patch: Some third-party OLE servers provide higher quality representation data in EMF format than in WMF format. The OLE handlers usually provide the representation data in WMF format, but embed the superior EMF data in the WMF stream. When displaying an OLE object with OleDraw() or IViewObject functions, the EMF data is used. OOO, however, accesses the data streams directly and can only display the limited WMF representation (missing unicode characters, bezier curves) The patch enables to read the EMF data, if available, and thus improves the display quality of certain OLE objects. The patch also includes an enhancement to embed EMF data when exporting to WMF. I am not sure, though, if this has a benefit in practical use. Some tests indicate, that this embedded EMF data is not used, when OOO acts as a OLE server. I found issue 97112 stating the same thing for OO3.0, yet as it still happens with OO3.1, I want to make sure it gets addressed. As the template listed was actually imported MS Word templates, I created a new one with OO writer containing a header like the other. This new template didn't get listed at all. Furthermore, I actually had created two slightly different templates in Word that I imported to OO. The reason for only one of them showing up in the list is probably, that both have the name of Berlin in the location where the name used to distiguish templates in the list is expected. Change of this mechanism is highly recommeded to make OO more user friendly. The master document as well as the subdocuments contain several hidden paragraphs, which are displayed or hidden by different conditions. The conditions depend on the current selected record of a database, which is used for the form printing. When we now start a form print to file and select save as individual documents and start the printing on a WindowsXP or Windows 7 machine, the CPU load goes to 100% and nothing happens. Even after a whole day of waiting the OpenOffice process still consumes 100% load. After investigating the output directory, it could be seen that the first file has been created but is empty. This problem occurs when using OpenOffice 3.1.1 with WindowsXP on a terminal server using OpenOffice 3.1.1 with WindowsXP on a single machine using OpenOffice 3.1.1 with WIndows 7 on a laptop and is reproducable on every run.
