The original problem of this task was the problem that the old table model disallowed the merging of table cells even in simple situations. You dislike the layout of the 3x2 table (with merged A1:A2 and B2:B3) because it does not show the underlying grid structure. Okay, it's a valid point. But if you have some text in your cells, you will see that the new table model has the expected structure. Or if you enter cell B2 and set the row height to a value like "at least 0,5cm", you will get the expected layout as well. That's the difference to another word processor, it sets the row height in such cases to "at least 0,49cm". So your point is not that we need to change our model again, you expect another value for the row height. Our default for row height is "at least 0,01" which causes these unexpected effect when cells are merged. You could write a new issue and suppose to change the row height after merging cells to another value. It has to be defined in which cases which value has to be chosen. 2. You described a problem with cursor travelling. Yes, that's simply a bug: if you have a merged table cell in the upper left corner of a table the cursor travelling is wrong is some cases. Please submit a new issue for this bug. 3. You do not like the naming convention of our new table model, because - It does not reflect the grid structure (of the whole table). - It handles row and columns differently. So there might be people who prefer your naming convention and there might be people who prefer the current one. But there is no bug, no disfunctionality visible for me, so no reason to reopen this issue again. If you want, you could write a new issue where you propose your naming schema. Conclusion: This issue (i4032) should not be reopened, it is fixed. You found a new (small) bug in cursor travelling. You propose to change the row heights when cells are merged. The following happens: if you change the default font via tools/options/.. for a document and paste text from this document into a document opened by another office version then this font value (tools/options...) is overwritten. This is not nice and should be changed but it happens since the beginning of Writer. This deletion is caused by a wrong assumption in SwRTFParser::SetFlysInDoc(..) Here we have to start analyzing and fixing. Unfortunately there is no expert for this code available, but when we have fixed this issue, we will be the new experts for RTF import of fly frames ;-) I debugged a little bit and obviously the problem starts with the code lines: pNd = pNd-FindTableNode(); if( pNd ) aRg.aStart = *pNd; When I understand this code correctly then works the RTF fly import in the following way: First the content of the fly frame is inserted into the main part of the nodes array. In the next step this content is moved into the special section for fly frames. In our bug case the range (aRg) which is used for this move is expanded because it is inside a table. This is wrong, but if we simply remove this code I think we will not be able to import a fly with a table inside correctly! So we have to find a solution which does not expand the aRg if we want to insert a fly frame into a table but which expands the aRg if we want to import a table inside a fly frame. It has its own list of undo operations (SwUndoMove) which are not in the normal undo stack. On the other side the bookmark manipulations are recorded on the normal undo stack. This does not fit together. So the idea of your patch to redo the recorded bookmark-undos point in the right direction even this patch would work perfectly. But I found another, radical solution. First I removed the SwUndoTblMerge::MoveBoxCntnt(SwPaM ..) method. It was only called in tblsel.cxx and I changed this, too. So now we cannot crash in this function any longer ;-) Instead of this I use the SwUndoTblMerge::MoveBoxCntnt(SwDoc*...) function. We lost only a crude behavior of old tables which nobody really needed or understood. So far, so good. But even this other method has problems caused by the bookmark undo objects.
