Kaspersky Anti-Virus solutions (and most likely others too) read the digital
signature vendor name, and compares it with a built-in list of trusted
applications. If the app is in the list, it is handled with predefined security-
rules. In this case, the user doesn't need to answer so many questions from the
AV. So, signing the executables can help providing a better user experience..

The Java Executables are all (or mostly?) digitally signed. Why doesn't that
belong to the OOo Files too?

In the OOo 3 Release candidates (tested in RC3 and RC4) space characters are
hidden, if a automatic linebreak happens.

How to reproduce:
1. Open a new Writer Document
2. Type a (without ) until the first is almost at the end
3. Type a Space Character
4. Type b until the first line is full (no linebreak must happen until now!)
5. Type a Space again
6. Type some c characters
7. Place the cursor ath the beginning of line 2 (in front of the C's)
8. type some more Space characters

Expected behavior:
The space characters should move the c characters to the right, revealing the
amount of space characters.

Actual behavior:
The c character group is NOT moved to the right. No effect is visible at all..

Why this is anoying:
At first this seems like beeing not so bad, but if the first line is edited,
and gets shorter or longer, the hidden spaces are revealed, and very large
groups of spaces could appear. This is definitely a bad behavior in my
opinion...

Target Milestone:
I think its to late that for, but I would like to see that fixed before OOo 3
release ;-)

When I copy a string in OOo Writer 2.4.1 RC2 and paste it into a text editor
(notepad.exe) there is allways a linefeed added at the end. Very anoying,
because I use copy paste a lot, and I have to remove the linefeed manualy
every time...

This behavior did not exist in 2.4.0 release...

Making a query on the Thunderbird Adressbook as database fails, when 'IS EMPTY'
is defined as criteria for the e-mail field (for example).

steps to reproduce
1. if not exist, make some contacts with, and without e-mail adresses in TB
2. setup TB as database source
3. make a query on the adressbook from step1
4. set 'IS EMPTY' (IST LEER in German) as criteria to the 'E-Mail' field.
5. run the query

expected result
All contacts without e-mail address schould be displayed.

actual result
All contacts WITH e-mail addresses are displayed

So the query does exactly the oposite of what it should be. I can not even use
'IS NOT EMPTY' (IST NICHT LEER in German), because this leads to error SQL-
Status: HY000, Statement too complex (see separate issue I will report afer
this ;-)

Printing Documents with embedded Datafields doesn't update these fields with
the current data in the document.

Reproduce:

1. Open Document with Datafields
2. Select File - Print
3. Press OK on Button which asks, if user wants to do a mailmerge (Serienbrief)
4. Select a single row in from the selected Database
5. Click Print

Expected Bahavior:
The datafields in the document (not only the printout) should be updated with
their coresponding vaules

Actual Bahavior:
The datafields in the document aren't updated in any kind (but the printout is
ok)

PS: I hope this new behavior is not wanted, because it doesn't fit into my
workflow :-( I need the document updated with the databae values, not only the
printout...

colebantam atjensen: Just look one post ago:

So there is a workaround - rename the profiles, than OO can separate them.
But in long terms there should be implemented a better solution.

In your case, if the Seamonkey Profile doesn't contain important data - delete
it and create a new one (Profile Manager), but with a name that differs from
default... Then you can separate the profiles in OOo 2.0.x

Btw, if this issue is important to you, vote for it!

If there is one ore more distribution lists in outlook, OOo 2.0.x can NOT
access this database.

My Setup:
Windows XP with Outlook 2003. Contacts folder with included Distribution Lists
(Don't know if that is the correct definition in English Outlook, it is a
translation from the German Verteilerliste). I cannot connect to the database
with OOo 2.0.x. If I delete the Distribution List everything is fine, and I
can access the data.

DicBack.cmd:
To correct an possible misunderstanding. DicBack.cmd was not intended as a
solution to the problem, but as a quick'n dirty workaround. I wrote it for my
friends and customers to simplify the update from 2.0 to 2.0.1, and decided
afterwards that it might be useful for others to, and that for attached it to
this thread.

Shared Layer:
This proposal of is is what I mentioned in the previous thread. I wrote that
there should be a OO Folder in All Users\Application Data which contains the
shared data. Of course is wrote it more detailed and from a more inside
technical view ;-) I hope this new layer can be introduced without many other
changes.
Nevertheless, if OOo gets a new layer, a converter would be fine...

Target:
I fear that targeting this issue to Version 3 is far to late! I think a 2.1
Version Target would be much better. Also, I think that a solution for the 2.0.
x Series should be introduced. Of course it makes no sense to implement a merge
system for every file that could be changed by users (as is said), but an
simple switch (Don't update my Dictionarys) in the installer would solve the
problem at first.

Uuuups. Just saw that I misspelled the wrong Adressbook. It should be named
Pers?nliches Adre?buch not Persö?liches Adre?buch.

Please, can anyone edit the summary and previous comment? Or shall I make a new
report?

With the wrong spelling, it is hard for people with the some problem to find it
via query...

I wrote a small batchfile which reads the installation folder from the registry,
and prompts the user afterwards if he wants to backup or restore the dic files.

It is written for german speacking users, but maybe someone wants to translate
it into english ;-)

It may be usefull, as long as the update don't keep the installed dic's, which
I fear will be the case for 2.0.1 at least...

Try to create a attachment...

I tested it only on XP, but should work on W2K to. Donst know for 9x...

Danke Andre, warst schon wieder schneller ;-)

Soll ich das mit dem All USers/Anwendungsdaten Ordner hier nochmal schreiben,
oder reicht der Verweis auf dem alten Thread?

Overwriting or delete/write, its the same result ;-)

OK, I think this issue is not an installer issue, but a generel one.
Nevertheless, the problems with the dictinary.lst could be solved by the
installer. A simple option in the installer don't delete/replace my
Dictionaries, which tells the installer to don't touch the dict folder,
would solve the problem. (To be honest, I think nearby ALL users don't wants
their dic's to be deleted, so this option might not even be necesery, but could
be hard wired [*.ini].)

The correct behavier in long term would be to store the dictionarys/templates
not in the programm directory, but in the All Users/Application Data Folder.
Files in that folder should survive the OO 2.0 Installer routines? So what
Component should this issue be reported to?

If one of the folowing conditions are true, I cannot acces the outlook
addressbook:

1.) Outlook is not set as standard E-Mail client
This is very anoying, since I want Thunderbird to be my Default Mail Client. So
if I set Outlook to be, a mailto link on website opens a compose mail window in
outlook instead of Thnderbird.

2.) Distribution Lists exists in Outlook Contacts
If there is one ore more distribution lists in outlook, OOo 2.0.x can also NOT
access this database.

Glad to see that Andre has posted that already. I have the some problem, with OO
2.0.1 RC2 Installer not detecting the already installed 2.0. I think for a
modern software, that not anly wants to get new users, but also to keep the
existing, this is a must have feature...

I think this issue should be targeted to 2.0.1. Or does anyone realy wants to
explain his/her friends/customers why the 2.0.1 update could mess up there
installation, and that they must install there wordbooks (for example) again?

I had the same problem just now. I configered the Thunderbird adressbook
several times, but no etries showed up. Queit some time later, I realized, that
there is still a Mozilla Suite installation. And since the automatic created
account in mozilla is allways named default, OOo 2.0 opend this Adressbook,
instead of the Thunderbird one...

So there is a workaround - rename the profiles, than OO can separate them. But
in long terms there should be implemented a better solution.

I think it would be ok, when the addresswizard of OO2 REALY looks (only) in the
thunderbird Profile folder, and not in the mozilla suite profile folder.

Due to is comment, I retested the whole case.

It is correkt that 2.0.1 imports most settings from 2.0, but not all. In every
scenario the dictionay.lst is overwritten with a default one. This fores the
user to reinstall all used dictionarys. An anvanced user off course can backup
the file before, but the average user will not be amused to have to reconfigure
...

If 2.0 was installed to a userdefined path, and the update is made to the
default path (And vice versa?), then will also the templates be lost. Again,
the adcanced user can backup, but normal users...

In my opinion these 2 problems should be solved before releasing 2.0.1. If 2.0.1
contains an important security fix that should be out as soon as possible, the
sitiation is different off course...
