1. The problem way also there with OOo-3.1
2. The problem is linux/unix only (as the profile already inidcates)
3. My platform is Fedora Linux-13, but also saw it on Fedora 11/12

4. Step-by-Step:
* Open the file attached
* Scroll through it, updown
* On my Core2Duo Laptop (2x2ghz/4MB L2 cache) I get about ~2fps scrolling it

5. No is not related to Issue 103008. Issue Issue 103008 (which I filed, and was
*never* really investigated) talked about slow graphic rendering, this one is
about a *simple* document with horrible scrolling performance.

The profile suggests the problem is somewhere in OOo's font substitution
mechanism, which is used if it can't find a font and tries to find one which
looks the same. Something is going wrong here and OOo calls into FontConfig like
mad.

I often experience extremly slow scrolling of even simple documents, it seems to
be related of the type of fonts used.
Quite often that slow scrolling happens with documents written on Windows
systems.

I did system-wide profiling using sysprof, and it seems OOo spends most of its
time in FontConfig functions.

Document profile screenshot of profile (if you don't have sysprof installed)
is attached.

So, this is the advice you give an end-user, wondering why his OOo instance
won't start anymore?

On Kubuntu I removed ubuntu's pre-installed openoffice packages, and installed
the official amd64 packages distributed on openoffice.org.

At startup OpenOffice hang in an endless loop, trying to open files that did not
exist anymore. After deleteing the ~/.openoffice directory, OOo stated again
normally.

I created an strace-log, to give some insights what was happening - please take
a look at the end of the attached file.

This is on Fedora 11 with a Intel-945GM, UXA+KMS; OpenOffice-3.1.1

However I obsereved the same slow scrolling experience with EXA or ShadowFB
(pure software rendering), so I don't think it has anything to do with video
drivers.
Especially the content starting with row-45 scolls slow, with EXA about 1fps,
with ShadofFB about 3fps.

I profiled my system with sysprof, a screenshot of the results is attached.
While scrolling soffice.bin used 73% cpu, and Xorg about ~40% (the two cores sum
up to 200%).

I've a Core2Duo 2ghz (4mb l2 cache) and 3GB ram.

Could it be that rendering is done differently on Linux?
Does the windows version also generate Trapezoids for antialiasing?

If not, couldn't it be the tesselator struggling with that content?
