[sw-issues] [Issue 112399] Extremly slow scrolling o f certain files
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=112399 --- Additional comments from linuxhip...@openoffice.org Tue Jun 15 07:23:00 + 2010 --- 1. The problem way also there with OOo-3.1 2. The problem is linux/unix only (as the profile already inidcates) 3. My platform is Fedora Linux-13, but also saw it on Fedora 11/12 4. Step-by-Step: * Open the file attached * Scroll through it, updown * On my Core2Duo Laptop (2x2ghz/4MB L2 cache) I get about ~2fps scrolling it 5. No is not related to Issue 103008. Issue Issue 103008 (which I filed, and was *never* really investigated) talked about slow graphic rendering, this one is about a *simple* document with horrible scrolling performance. The profile suggests the problem is somewhere in OOo's font substitution mechanism, which is used if it can't find a font and tries to find one which looks the same. Something is going wrong here and OOo calls into FontConfig like mad. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Quite often that slow scrolling happens with documents written on Windows systems. I did system-wide profiling using sysprof, and it seems OOo spends most of its time in FontConfig functions. Document profile screenshot of profile (if you don't have sysprof installed) is attached. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Especially the content starting with row-45 scolls slow, with EXA about 1fps, with ShadofFB about 3fps. I profiled my system with sysprof, a screenshot of the results is attached. While scrolling soffice.bin used 73% cpu, and Xorg about ~40% (the two cores sum up to 200%). I've a Core2Duo 2ghz (4mb l2 cache) and 3GB ram. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
