Wikipedia tells us: Trend lines typically are straight lines, although some variations use higher degree polynomials depending on the degree of curvature desired in the line. We use four types of trend lines. I'll remove all regression curve from the Chart Help and only use trend line. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Users did find this to technical and so we changed to the requested term 'trend line'. There is still a single occurrence of the term 'regression' within the legend of charts, but that is a bug (see issue 89529). So the term 'trend line' is used within OpenOffice.org chart in sense of 'regression curve'. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In OOo 3.0, the term trend lines and regression curves are the same in meaning. However, these terms are not the same as a technical term, so they should not be used to mean the same. When we translate the terms in Japanese, we can use the same translation, but Japanese community members are not comfortable because the terms are not used correctly in English. To avoid user confusion for the wrong terms used in OOo 3.0, could you please investigate the meaning of the terms and clarify the correct terms? Also, the help of trend lines has the following description, so please check if it is correct. -- quotation from the help -- Regression curves, also known as trend lines, can be added to all 2D chart types except for Pie and Stock charts. --- - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
