Thanks for the fast reply. But sadly a program can not yet detect if the
displayed content is messed up for the user or not.

No problem viewing the attached files on a DEV300_m41, OOO300_m15 , 3.0 Final,
in presentation and in edit view.
The bugodc from bug182837 does not work in 3.0 final but this is fixed in
OOO300_m15.
Please try to uncheck use hardware acceleration under
Tools/options/View/Graphics output and report the result please. Thanks.

Many thanks - workaround suggested works for all the attached files. It would
be useful if Impress either (a) detected messed-up display automatically or (b)
installed with HW acceleration disabled and warned the user when enabling it
that some graphics might be affected.

Using 3.0.1 (under WinXP), the problem still exists. PPT 97-2003 files appear
in Impress when editing but when viewing the slide show appears as a blank
screen.

This posting suggests the Linux version of OOo is affected also:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/182837

The post also has a file that doesn't open properly.

all attached presentations display fine for me using OOo 3.0.0 on Windows and
Linux. At least there is no content missing (even after editing / copying
slides).

So I'llclose as worksforme.

But I found some other troubles:
- first example uses differnt fonts for edit and presentation mode on Win XP,
rendering the Presentation very badly.Tis is tracked in issue 64671

- some text boxes in the second file are not moveable I filed issue 95602

Still unresolved in 3.0 RC1 - Course Design Template.PPT attached to
illustrate the unpredictability of this though.

Attached file (not my own - from a member of the Discuss list) displays for me
in 2.4 the exact same way as in PowerPoint 2003 on my PC and on another PC
running StarOffice 2.4. The list-member, using 2.4.1 misses the far-right of
slides.

Running OOo 3.0 RC1 on the same machine as 2.4 and PPT 03 (WinXP SP3) - Impress
3 displays a blank screen and nothing else.

As a previous commentator said, this one's a show-stopper.

Note the the text isn't actually doubled, it was my mistake.

It is two overlayed text boxes.

Michael Lebson 9/3/2009

Windows XP SP3
OOo300m4 build 9347

I can reproduce parts of this bug.

Initially uneditable slides in easterpres2.ppt

1. Open impress.
2. Load the given easterpres2.ppt
3. Click the 2nd slide.
4. Note that the text is doubled and uneditable.
5. Note that when the picture on this slide is moved, the text becomes editable
as well.
6. If the text is edited, it appears to remove the doubled text but when I click
out of the text box it changes back.
7. When the presentation is put into slideshow mode, the text displays
correctly.

Sometimes clicking out of the textbox area allows it to be edited as well.

I CAN, however, delete slides in this presentation and view it as a slideshow
with no problem.

The other example file (GCSE%20ICT.ppt) shows no problems with my system at all.

Although the slides become editable through a series of seemingly random steps,
the average user would most likely give up and assume it just doesn't work. On
the same page, the average user would most likely not notice that the text
displays fine in SldieShow mode and just assume it will be doubled as it is in
edit mode.

I've been able to partially reproduce this bug as well, the slides are
sometimes uneditable (only in the second attachment). An odd thing I've noticed
is that when they do become uneditable, they become editable once again if I
move the picture in slide two. Save for being able to edit the contents on the
slide, I've had complete control over moving slides around/deleting them
(original and copies).

I had to try testing the second attachment four times before it caused a
problem, I exited out of the instance of OOo before opening it again.

I'm running windows vista 32 bit SP 1 on OOo 3 (beta 2).

Issue with PowerPoint (97-2003) files in OOo 3.0 (beta 2)

OOo3 seems to open .PPT files fine, but I have noticed some issues when editing:

- Open file (ok)
- Leave file in PPT format (ok)
- Select a slide (from left-hand-side thumbnails)
- Paste in a copy of the slide (seems to work)

BUT - the copy is *sometimes* un-editable - I can click on it, press Enter, do
whatever I like - and

it doesn't respond. Alternatively, the slide may appear editable but cannot be
deleted from the

presentation (as happens when I copy a slide in the attached PPT
presentations).

When viewing a PPT file, nothing at all may be displayed (see attached, which
both display a white screen).

I'm filing as a single issue as they may be related.
