again: amanda version 2.4.2 and NT
Because I didn't get an answer I post my question again: Since now we have installed Amanda 2.4.1p1 which doesn't support exclude lists in Samba backups. Because I thought the current version 2.4.2 does we've downloaded it. But after reading the docs I coudn't find any hint in there. Just to be sure once again the question: does version 2.4.2 support file exclusion on NT clients? And something else: Here is the output of our tapetype programm for Overland LoaderXpress. Until yet I coudn`t find any example for it. define tapetype DLT-8000-IV { comment "just produced by our tapetype program on 02.01.2001" length 38042 mbytes filemark 114 kbytes speed 5865 kbytes } Thanx Alex

Re: again: amanda version 2.4.2 and NT
does version 2.4.2 support file exclusion on NT clients? Based on reading the code (not first hand experience), it supports "exclude FILENAME" to omit a single file. It does not support the more general "exclude list EXCLUDEFILE". As Joi pointed out, this is a limit of smbclient, not Amanda. Note also that I don't think the exclusion is taken into account when gathering the estimate (a different/faster method is used), so this could throw things off if the excluded file is large.
