I wrote a utility script that took the part description files
from the atmel studio as input and generates the files. Unfortunately,
the script is unmaintainable and Atmel / Microchip changed the
XML format every now and than. It's a big job, I'm afraid. No
quick fix.

Re: [Amforth] ATmega4809 Curiosity Nano

2019-03-06 Thread Tristan Williams
Jan,

The IC has an internal oscillator at 16MHz or 20MHz. I believe the UNO
WiFi Rev2 uses this processor. I was looking for an inexpensive
commercially built ATmega based board with 3+ serial ports that was
physically smaller than the Mega2560. The ATmega4809 has some
interesting additional peripherals, multiple serial ports and
ATmega4809 Curiosity Nano is physically small enough.

However, the more I read, the more I fear I am trying to bite off
much more than I am able to chew with my original post.

Regards,

Tristan

A nice board to play with it.
What is the internal frequency? Found only that there is a 32k crystal mounted
on the board.

[Amforth] ATmega4809 Curiosity Nano

2019-03-06 Thread Tristan Williams

I would like to try and see if I can get AmForth running on the
ATmega4809 IC and specifically on the ATmega4809 Curiosity Nano [1]

The ATmega4809 is a relatively new IC and so does not have a directory
in amforth-6.8/avr8/devices. Consequently it does not have the part
specific .frt , .asm , .inc , .py and .pyc files. These files suggest
that they are automatically generated. Is this something I can do from
the amforth-6.8 distribution?

Kind regards and best wishes,
Tristan
