I'd agree with that - I registered MUI a long time ago and haven't seen
anything new in just as long.

You didn't pay for MUI to get regular updates, just keep that in mind.

To expect a bugfix for something very serious for your money wouldn't
be too much to ask: but considering that the circumstances of the MUI
settings app bug are EXTREMELY rare, it isn't a serious bug in anyone's
eyes.

Especially now that you all know about it, and can avoid constantly
opening the prefs app, iconifying it, and typing avail flush.

Thanks

You just might want to check just what the original promises from SASG
International were. Their original of promise was that a SASG
product was a guarantee of regular minor updates (within a certain
number of months) and that major upgrades would follow on an annual or
18 month (can't remember which) basis. They did pretty good at keeping
that promise with MUI for a few years, but considering the age of MUI
3.8, they definitely haven't lived up to it for minor or major updates
since that release.

Id like to see someone create a screen shot as AmIRC in a Reaction GUI, this
would be interested to see what it would look like..

Oh but nobody sees it so it can't be really be true.

Voyager hasn't had a release for a whole 3 months. That's a delay of a
whole quarter of a year. Businesses can go bankrupt in that time. You
do know what that means?

VOYAGER IS DEAD! WE MUST START TO PORT MOZILLA TO FILL IT'S PLACE!
AND THEN ALSO AMIRC DEAD BECAUSE CHATZILLA RULE!!

*snigger*

 libraries are buggy.

Oh apparently, Olli, there are many bugs in the libraries and they're
*all* showstoppers - reading the changelogs shows at least 5 major
evil bugs, like improper remapping of magicwb colours, tiny and rare
graphical glitches, accidentally flushing memory..

Oh man, I couldn't live if loading a MUI app gave me back a few
megabytes, or overwrote a pixel or two.

Thanks

As a plain ordinary user, what makes you think there's anything in the latest
version of MUI that you couldn't just as well live without?

The reason only testers get to see it is because it's still in development and
testing. It has some features that add pointless graphical fluff to the GUI at
the moment. Hardly stuff requiring an update, for you, the plain ordinary

I assume that if you can see the about window, your copy of MUI still runs?

there NEEDS to be a new version if the one you have works fine?

As a plain ordinary user, what makes you think there's anything in the latest
version of MUI that you couldn't just as well live without?

One, I don't consider myself as a normal MUI user, I have several programs
which would not exist without MUI - I also note that I have received error
reports from people that are actually using the latest version of MUI
which I obviously can't possibly fix due to not having that version (Ok,
so testers STOP sending ME bug reports - get MUI fixed, as my program
can't possibly be wrong if it works on MUI 3.8)

The reason only testers get to see it is because it's still in development and
testing. It has some features that add pointless graphical fluff to the GUI at
the moment. Hardly stuff requiring an update, for you, the plain ordinary
 user.

Most of this fluff breaks programs that are currently in progress and I'm
just waiting for the new version to be released so I get to completely
rewrite my program due to something that someone felt was a good idea at
the time.

I assume that if you can see the about window, your copy of MUI still runs?
And the applications that use it still run, don't they? What makes you think

Works fine?!? Not always.

 I'll quote Stefan Stuntz himself:

Yea, right - as a developer, I'm finding new ones all the time - none of
which I've documented because it seems to be useless to tell anyone who is
supposedly developing it that their are bugs due to the above.

Fortunately, I have gotten some feedback about other custom classes that I
use, otherwise the program wouldn't work at all under some circumstances
(Yes, using documented code and the autodocs to the letter)

snipped pointless rant

I don't understand what you're going on about - you say you are getting
reports from people with newer versions of MUI than you, that your app
is buggy. How would the newer version stop your app from being buggy
if it were released?

MUI 3.8 is fine. Using documented features works fine. There are a few
minor discrepencies but nothing you'd ever use.

What you have to realise here is that if you coded it for MUI 3.8 and there
is a bug in someone's MUI 4.x installation that makes your app crash, YOU
DO NOT HAVE TO FIX IT. It's perfectly justified for you to say then stop
running buggy beta versions of MUI that I can't test, the bug doesn't
exist under MUI 3.8.

Why would you want to support a version of MUI that - as far as I've
counted - only 8 people actually have installed outside of MorphOS?

Thanks
