The UHF module was pulled from it, and the owner didn't know if it has the satellite board or not, but I am guessing that it probably does given the module lineup where it would have covered Mode A, T, J and B when it had the UHF module in it. They are asking $200 for it which seems like a great price, and it even has the original service manual with it. Are these still pretty good satellite rigs? [amsat-bb] Re: FT726 opinions
The modules (at least for the 736R) usually sell for around $300 - $800 depending on band (1.2GHz being the expensive one). By the time you have factored that into the $200 for the 726 you're at $500. 736Rs go for around $600 and are the better radio which will have the sat feature included. The only thing left to add then (in some cases) would be the tone board. 73 Mike K5TRI On Jul 30, 2011, at 10:17 AM, Jim Jerzycke wrote: Hamguy123 on eBay frequently has the modules for sale. [amsat-bb] Yaesu FT-726
The Yaesu FT-726 was a decent sat rig back in the day. Cons: Low power output ( only ten watts ) and limited frequency coverage on UHF ( either 430-440 or 440-450 but not the full range ) I think it lacked the tracking VFOs implemented in the FT-736 which was a real nice feature. Also no CAT control with this rig which was what motivated me to trade up to a pair of Icom twins ( IC-271 and IC-471 ). For the money though, it would be hard to balk. 73, Bob W1ICW ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? The ARISSat-1/Kedr transmission test is scheduled to begin at 1915Z. There is a 15 minute transmission delay, so don't expect to receive any signals until 1930Z. All, If you are able to make an audio recording of the signals from ARISSat-1, I would be very interested in obtaining a copy of your recording. I would be most interested in recordings of the CW and BPSK signals, but if are able to record the voice and SSTV signals I would be interested in those too. If you can make an SDR recordings ( I and Q ) with a Funcube dongle, FlexRadio, or SDR-IQ, record at the highest rate that your hardware and software supports. If you are making a regular audio recording, set the sampling rate to the highest quality. If you can choose sample sizes, for example between 8-bit and 16-bit samples, choose the largest size. If you get any recordings with any of the signals from ARISSat, I would be very interested in obtaining a copy even if the recording is huge. Save your recordings as .WAV files. Don't use MP3 format and don't convert the recordings into MP3 recordings. Leave the recordings as big huge .WAV files. If your recording can be sent as an email attachment, please go ahead and send it to dquagliana (at) aol.com. Thanks for everyone's patience today. I was able to log about 20 contacts on AO-27 and SO-50. Not bad for a first day out. I used the antennas as mounted on the tower today. Tomorrow I will be on again and will play with the arrow some more. 73 all, Don N3MK FM27 -Original Message- From: amsat-bb-boun...@amsat.org [mailto:amsat-bb-boun...@amsat.org] On Behalf Of Don Snider Sent: Friday, July 29, 2011 12:55 PM To: amsat-bb@amsat.org Subject: [amsat-bb] Operation from FM27 tomorrow Hello all, I'm new to satellite and I'm going to try my first QSOs on AO-27 during it's daylight passes. Last weekend I listened to AO-27 on my tower mounted 432 beam but for this I'll be setting up an arrow antenna on a tripod and an ft-736r. I've had the arrow for years but never got around to actually using it for satellite. Hope to see you on AO-27 tomorrow and possibly Sunday as well if I'm successful. Oh, and if anyone wants to sell a g-550 or similar elevation rotator let me know. I'm interested. 73, Don N3MK Chincoteague Island, VA ___ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org. [amsat-bb] Re: ARISSat-1 CW tlm
Hello Masahiro, Thank you for the report. BPSK-1000 looks like the old 400 bps signals on a spectrum analyzer, but sounds more like a shusch than a raar, if that makes sense. There is a 400 bps BPSK signal capability on board, but should only come into play if the BPSK-1000 is not working. We have 1000's of hours running the satellite and have not seen a switch to the 400 bps mode. Try listening to an old recording of AO-13 or AO-40 and see if it is not quite a bit lower in frequency. Telemetry values look good. I am anxiously awaiting my local 2:30 am pass. 73, Gould - Original Message - From: Masahiro Arai m-a...@a.email.ne.jp To: amsat-bb@amsat.org Sent: Saturday, July 30, 2011 9:08 PM Subject: [amsat-bb] ARISSat-1 CW tlm 0051z pass was also good signal from ARISSat-1 and ISS. Through the use of ham radio equipment, students and teachers should be able to access and utilize the satellite from a classroom environment with minimal set up. ARISSat-1/KEDR is a cooperative effort between AMSAT, ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station,) RSC-Energia (The Russian Space Agency) and NASA. The design, development and construction of the satellite was done by AMSAT volunteers. Original plans called for the satellite to be housed inside an old Russian spacesuit, but when the suit became unavailable, a spaceframe was developed to house the radio equipment and solar panels. The new satellite was named ARISSat-1/KEDR. Another name for the spacecraft is RadioSkaf-V. The transmitted callsign will be RS01S. The mission was specifically designed as an education-based satellite. Some of its broadcast features include a voice identification, voice, digital and morse code telemetry, stored image and on-board camera transmissions via Slow Scan TV and digital telemetry from a Russian science experiment that will measure vacuum in earth's lower atmo- sphere. Other aspects of the mission include CW (Morse code) and voice message contests to interest students in participating along with stored images submitted by students all over the world as part of its payload. 145.950 MHz FM Downlink --- FM transmissions will cycle between a voice ID as RS01S, select tele- metry values, 24 international
