[android-developers] How to Promote you application for FREE and get 10,000 downloads in first month

2016-12-05 Thread Ankit Chauhan
I followed this method to acquire the first 10,000 downloads in just first
month of the app release

i was working in a private MNC with a shitty salary and wanted a changed

i had to come up with something which could help me escape from the jib
system

Something of my own, some kind startup which helps me to earn more than my
shitty salary

I had prior experience of Android but with not much success and no such app
that could help me achieve this goal of mine to come out of the job system

I started looking for successful android Application which has helped
developer earn in good numbers

and here i was with a plan to develop a music player of my own.

There were tons of them and the reason i chose a music player was that
every application i could find there had a least a million downloads so it
was fixed that in the coming 3-4 months my app will be seen among other
music player applications

So these two things were my ways of getting downloads.

1. Best graphics

2. A general purpose app

3. Appeasing color pallet

4. Beautiful yet powerful

5. Has animations

6. works seamlessly without a flaw.

7. drains less battery

I was done with the development within 2 months and released the app with a
normal icon searched from the net.

I needed a unique app icon for the app which i got for $11 on fiver.

I created the screenshot by myself and trust me they look professionals i
had been taking idea from other applications too

I have started to earn from ads from this application in the first month
itself so now i'll be spending that money on screenshots and video for sure

I saw ASO for tons of application and was able to create one for my own

1. A keyword should be 5 times in the description.

2. Put the keyword in the name

3. Put the keyword in the package name.

To give my app a starting i was asking my friends and colleagues to
download and review the application and later i realized that this won't
help me reach my goal

I kept adding friends, Even facebook blocked me from sending texts to anyone

The early downloads and reviews were quite important. They reviewed and
downloaded. About 200-300 of them.

After the launch i quit my job and decided to work full time on the
application as it was the only thing left which i could do my myself

Started posting on facebook pages and groups and I did get some likes and
downloads from there

Posting on youtube reviewers comments and sending them my app link asking
for reviews

Then posting on their new videos ,asking people to try it and asking the
channel owner to review it. I posted them 100 each day or maybe more.

Posting on reddit, forums, qoura etc.Got about 200 downloads from there

I was doing this for 30 days and finally I had the result.

It was 10,000 downloads in the first month and with it came the $100

So i started experimenting a lot. Like I used to spam on quora, and
realized how it can improve the ranks.

I started targeting good keywords written in my ASO

The rate of growth is very high

DO CHeck it’ll OPEN your MIND as a developer

2016-05-20 Thread Ankit Sevak
   Hello Every One

In this time i am Suffering one problem in Android code.
I am working on a project which should include a list of videos from
allover the internet
(video sources are different - youtube, vimeo, facebook, videos hosted on
servers, ...).
I am trying to make a ListView, where item has a video player and some
description
When user clicks on play button the video starts playing. I made one
example,
where I use VideoView as player, but soon realised that the performance is
not very good - *scrolling is very laggy *

[android-developers] Permission issues in Android M

2015-09-24 Thread Ankit
Hi,
I am developing an application (service) for an OEM that will be
installed as a system application. Due to the new permission model in
Android M, this system application doesnt get granted 'dangerous'
permission by default.
Currently I am detecting this and requesting User for the permissions, but
OEM doesnt want this pop-up.

I understand that if the application is signed with platform key, the
'dangerous' permissions will be granted by default, but is there any other
way to grant these "dangerous" permissions to the system application
without a pop-up for user?

Thanks
Ankit

[android-developers] Re: ListView vs. GridView vs. TableLayout

2013-06-17 Thread ankit the OPIUM
Is your designing is something like onClick of an item on First list should
change content of rest of the column? If yes,you can try Fragments. It will
be a nice to have 2 fragments in tablet and one in phone.
Just search for fragment tutorials on google you will get tons.

column, but I want the left most column to be significantly wider than
the columns to the right of it.

What kind of control should I use?

[android-developers] Re: free trial for a one time purchase with in app v3

2013-04-04 Thread ankit the OPIUM
Control subscription from both google server and your app in following way:-

Publish your app with monthly subscription having free trial of seven days.
After free trial Google will charge your user and send you notification
onReceive of this notification send it to your server and your server will
call server side api to cancel this order.(just check if google will refund
money automatically or not in this case)
http://developer.android.com/google/play/billing/billing_subscriptions.html#cancellation
In this way you can give free trial for one time purchase.

What alternatives do I have ?

If you are making multiple same tags in xml file it will take only first
tag and behave same. This is applicable for development also. just give it
a try give

intent-filter
action android:name=android.intent.action.MAIN /

category android:name=android.intent.category.LAUNCHER /
/intent-filter
for two activities in you application. you app will launch the first

So I believe the onTouchEvent in the view that has current control
must pass off the touch event (MotionEvent) to the other view.

I have tried simply calling the onTouchEvent() as well as
 dispatchTouchEvent.

I have tried creating the MotionEvent.ACTION_UP event for the current

MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE to the view I want to gain control.

 Nothing works.

[android-developers] Re: Improve data retriveing time from server.

2013-03-28 Thread ankit the OPIUM
If this not a web app what you can do is when your app launch retrieve data
from server and save in device and fetch from there. After that check your
server regularly if something has been changed over server and download
only those change files not whole data. in this way only first time it will
take more time.

*For example* :

   - you server has 100 records when app launch first time(just after
   installation) you download 100 records
   - after 5 min you check your server and found 5 entries has been changed
so you will download only 5 records.
   - next time when app launches again you will check only changed records
on server and download them only.

When the user cancels a subscription Google Play notifies our app that the

And On my research I found that Purchase token is recieved along with

The demo's Security.java on successful verification of signature parses
Json however the parsing of element Purchase-token is missing here.
I haven't yet run the code since subscription doesn't have test

What I want to know is this token be parsed here or is the sample code

If token to be parsed then what changes should be done in
 BillingService.java,ResponseHandler.java, Security.java and

[android-developers] java.net.SocketException: sendto failed: ETIMEDOUT (Connection timed out)

2012-02-20 Thread ankit singh
Hi All,

I am facing java.net.SocketException: sendto failed: ETIMEDOUT
(Connection timed out) exception in ICS.
After above exception, I am not able to do data transfer through
sslSocket, which i created. Please help me on this.

I have some doubts and correct me if i am wrong :
Steps:
1. Make a socket connection
2.Start transfering data using sslSocket.
3.Data connectivity goes down and come up.

Doubts:
1. DO we need to again make a socket connection.
2. DO RIL or Framework will do that for up.
3. There is SSLSocket interface which is exposed as API, user only
need to use that, and need not bother about data connectivity lost or
gain, framework will do polling, once data connectivity is up and
provice new socket to Application.

Please help me on this... for GB we never face thesetype of problem.

Thanks,
Ankit

[android-developers] Text highlighting in Web View for Android 3.0

2011-12-07 Thread Ankit
Hi All,
I am developing an application for android 3.0 (honeycomb).
This application is actually a book where different chapters are in
the form of html we load these html files
in WebView. Now we are struggling with text highlighting issue here.

This feature is needed in many places for eg.-

1. We want to save the text that the user highlights (by long pressing
on the content) and create a list of this highlighted text.
Later when the user taps on this list the user should be redirected to
the page where the text is present and it should be
persistently highlighted . How do we achieve persistent highlighting
here ?

2. The user searches for some word in the search bar (in action bar)
and the searched text should be highlighted in the chapter below.

We are totally stuck here. Please help. How to achieve text
highlighting ?

[android-developers] Android NDK C++ 'wstring' support

2011-10-08 Thread Ankit Shah

Hi,

I have source code/lib written in C++ - now i would like to compile and use
the same in Android NDK project (NDK 6). I am able to compile most of the
C++ files except std::wstring based functionality.

In Application.mk when i specify APP_STL: = stlport_static then it
compiles std::wstring based code but when i specify APP_STL: =
gnustl_static it fails to compile. I do not know how to resolve
std::wstring related issue with APP_STL: = gnustl_static

Any pointer or help on this would be gretly appriciated.

Thank You.

[android-developers] Re: How can we keep a particular application on the top always

2011-08-01 Thread Ankit
Hi ,

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.
Actually we want to know if it is possible using launch modes and task
affinities basically without changing the System Image.

We want to place our application over other applications, while
keeping the background application working as normal. Please note our
application may not be full screen.
Thus this also creates another problematic scenario:-
Our android activity stack is having following activity A, B, C. The
order in which the activities have opened is : C-B-A (with A on top
of the stack). And activity B, C are full screen but A is not full
screen.

Now we close activity B by clicking a close button in Activity B which
finishes the activity (Note activity B is visible as A is not full
screen).
Expected behavior :- Activity C and Activity A should be visible. That
is Activity Stack is A, C (with activity A on top).
But this not the behavior that is shown.
Actual Behavior happening :- On closing activity B we see a black
screen with activity A on top.

Note : Our constraint is that we can't change system image.

Thanks ,
Ankit

Second doubt/ requirement  is -  Activity Y is below Activity X,
Activity X is below Activity A (of Application A) . Activity X has a
close/exit button which would finish its own activity X. Now when that
button is pressed the activity get closed but leaves a black screen

Why does this happen (i think may be because it requires the Back

to do this.

If any  application in the background  launches another activity/
application then also my application ( Application A ) should come at
the top of the launched activity/application.

You're specifically asking for last known location. If that's not what you
 want, don't ask for it.

Also, you're duplicating a ton of code. They're called functions ;-)

Then wait for an update instead of getting and immediately using the last
 known location.

 Use Uri.fromFile().

  Intent intent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW);
  Uri data = Uri.fromFile(file:///data/data/package_name/files/

A String is not a File. Use a File with Uri.fromFile().

Also, bear in mind that this won't work for your desired purposes
unless the file is world-readable. You can also create a
ContentProvider to serve a local file, then use the content:// Uri in
 your Intent.

Now, if you save two layout / resource files quickly one after another,
then yes, the second one will wait for the automatic build triggered by

Try to disable automatic builds, clean the project, including deleting
