I can see logs if I run the emulator, but none on a real device. I've tried all log levels, in DDMS this device is the selected one (I don't even run the emulator), I can see the processes, I can do a screenshot, but even if I debug my process, LogCat stays empty (Note: no filters are active). Otherwise, I can start my application from eclipse on the device. My device is a T-Mobile Pulse, but only showing its name as '?' (I'm running Windows 7 x64, 2.1, custom ROM). Any ideas? [android-developers] Re: No LogCat message when debugging on a real device
I have noticed that too but the solution is rather simple, logcat in eclipse only shows messages from one device. It sometimes "forgets" to show you the real device and shows you the emulator even if it is not running. Activate the DDMS perspective in eclipse. Select the device on the left side. Now you should see the log. Going to DDMS and selecting the device fixed the problem. Thanks. Re: [android-developers] Re: No LogCat message when debugging on a real device
I think what he meant is that some times after you run in debug mode (especially if you have both the emulator running and your device), you have to go to the DDMS view in Eclipse and select the device/emulator you want to see the Logcat messages for. You are seeing the Logcat messages when you run the emulator? Just asking because I don't know how new you are to Eclipse/Android, and I'm assuming you are looking at the Logcat view and not seeing anything.. if not, you need to go to "Window/Show View" and select the Logcat view. I guess that I don't know what you mean by clicking the 'device/ emulator' in Eclipse. When I run the program, I choose the device. Note that the debugger works fine with the device, but I do not see any LogCat messages. Can you be more specific about what I have to set? Thanks.
