Re: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] CAIAsoft and ArchivesSpace
Hi Stephanie, We're working on an ArchivesSpace-Alma integration right now, in large part because this will allow us to take advantage of an existing Alma-Caiasoft integration. We don't use Aeon. If this sounds interesting to you, let me know and I'd be happy to connect you with the technical folks here who know more about those details. [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Do you agree it's important to be able to customize URLs/create PURLs in the PUI?
Hi everyone, As part of migrating to the ArchivesSpace public interface, we have to update a lot of links to old EAD finding aids. This has me thinking about the persistence of URLs and not only the trouble of updating old links but what will happen when (hopefully never!) we move out of ArchivesSpace. That the URLs in the public interface are arbitrary poses a problem. My sysadmin tells me that if we were able to customize some portion of the URL, it would be possible to create a URL redirect map. In the absence of that, she doesn't want to create a million (or, more precisely, about 4,000) individual redirects. If we could customize some portion of the URL, that would let us set up redirects from the old system, and it would also position us to anticipate being able to set up redirects going into a new system and therefore have somewhat persistent URLs. That's my understanding, at least. I don't have a firm grasp of these issues so I might be making false assumptions. I'm wondering if other folks have been thinking about this issue. How are you approaching the problem? Do you have a strategy for this? Can anyone with a better understanding of ASpace's code and/or development priorities speculate on the likelihood that the option to customize the URL for the public interface might be added to a future release? AR-1558 <https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1558> seems the most relevant ticket, and it's pretty old (v.1.4.2). If other people agree this is important, would you please upvote it, and hopefully increase the chances it'll get on the development roadmap? Thanks! [Archivesspace_Users_Group] external_ids from AT migration included in EAD export
Hello all, I'm helping out a small community archives ("WWCC") using ArchivesSpace and there's something wonky happening in their system that's not happening in mine. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem? external_ids from the Archivists' Toolkit migration are appearing in the EAD (and therefore PDF) export as, for example: 5883 In comparing WWCC's database with my institution's database, I can see that similar external_ids records from the AT migration are in my database as well, but ours aren't exporting to the EAD (as they shouldn't). Does anyone know why WWCC's external_ids *are* exporting? I suspect the problem is with the EAD exporter, but WWCC says they haven't made any modifications to it, and changing it is beyond my knowledge. My back-up plan is to change the XSLT stylesheet to bypass these extra types, but I wanted to know if anyone else knows what might be going on or has a more elegant solution. Thanks! [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Indexing woes in v 2.0.1
Hello all, We just upgraded to v 2.0.1 and now the indexer doesn't seem to be working properly - not in the staff interface nor in the PUI. We can create and change records, and when you are viewing the individual record it is correctly updated in both Public and Staff. However, these changes are not reflected in the browse/search in either Public or Staff. Old deleted records are still showing up in browse/search while new records cannot be found in browse/search. Any ideas for how to fix this? Following a suggestion on this listserv, we already tried forcing a re-index by stopping the application, deleting the following directories, and restarting Archivesspace /path/to/archivespace*/data/solr_index/index/* /path/to/archivesspace*/data/indexer_pui_state* /path/to/archivesspace*/data/indexer_state* This updated the index in terms of old activity, but new activity is still not being captured. We would appreciate any suggestions for what to try next. Thanks! [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Importing container profiles?
Hello, We've just migrated to v.1.5.1, so we need to create a whole bunch of container profiles. I know others have been in this exact same situation, and most of our boxes are the same as at every other repository. - Does anyone have a list/spreadsheet/etc of container profiles they're willing to share, so I don't have to look up dimensions on a vendor website (or worse, head into the stacks with a yardstick)? - Is there no way to import multiple container profiles at once from the ASpace staff interface?
