Users logged into a specific Mid-Tier server

2011-04-04 Thread Pruitt, Christopher (Bank of America Account)
Hello Fellow Listers,

Can someone tell me is there a way to determine how many users are logged on to
a specific Mid-Tier server? We want to log on to a specific Mid-Tier and check
to see how many users are currently logged on to that server. We don't care who
it is, when they logged on or what they are doing, just want to see the number
of currently logged on users.

We are on AR System 7.1 Mid-Tier running ServletExec on a windows server.

Do you go through a load balancer - if so that will have those stats.

If you used Tomcat - I would have also said you could have used lambda

Re: Users logged into a specific Mid-Tier server

2011-04-04 Thread Andrew C Goodall
The only issue we had with Tomcat initial for us was that Tomcat kept
crashing as a result of running out of Permgen memory.
Just make sure you allocate enough memory to the java heap, including
bumping up the max permsize.

BMC have some good recommendations in their new 7.6.04 performance
tuning guide.

I believe they now recommend below - in fact I think they now set this
as the default in 7.6.04:
Initial memory pool = 1024mb
Max memory pool = 1024mb
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m

911: Modifying the Prioritization in ITSM

Global OOB ITSM configuration is:

I have a request from the team to modify the priority to Medium when:

When I go into the Application Admin Console, I select Custom - Incident

I opened the Incident Priority, Incident Urgency, Incident Priority and

How can these value be changed?
I know this will affect SLAs, reports, prioritization, Incident Management

When I go into the Application Admin Console, I select Custom - Incident
Management Advanced Options, I open the Incident Prioritization, however I
am not able to change the priority value to Medium (it is read only) set at
 Low.

I opened the Incident Priority, Incident Urgency, Incident Priority and
Weight forms to see the configuration that set the weight to 20 and the
 value to low.

How can these value be changed?

I know this will affect SLAs, reports, prioritization, Incident Management
 weight, etc..

Hello Fellow Listers.

We are trying to up upgrade our Mid-Tier server from the original release of
7.1 to 7.1 patch 9. We are stumped as to why we are getting the
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.

We have tried everything we can think of. We upgraded the memory on the server
to 12 gb, per BMC support recommendation.
We set the java heap as follows: D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_14\bin\java
-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -classpath
We tried to go beyond 1024m but the java would not run or the ServletExec would
not recognize it, not sure which was the case.

We are stumped here. Submitted a ticket with BMC Support and they are offering
no help at all. In fact, they stated the following: ServletExec has been
discontinued by New Atlanta, and we provide no longer support for this
product...

Great reply from BMC support, just great. They recommend we remove it and go to
Tomcat. We wish we had the option but we don't. We are moving to new servers
and we will have the option to go with Tomcat but that is 9 to 12 months away,
at the earliest. So can anyone tell me what else we can do or try to get this
working?

Our environment.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 running Windows Server 2003 5.2 on x86 with
12 gb of Memory running with the Physical Address Extension set. We are running
New Atlanta ServletExec 5.0.0.10. The server is running java.version 1.5.0_14 -
java.runtime.version 1.5.0_14-b03. The server it is connecting to is a UNIX Sun
OS5.9 running on Oracle 10g.

Re: ITSM 7.6.4 - Suite Licenses

2011-04-04 Thread Easter, David
The ITSM Suite is a selling model, not a license type. So no - you will not
see an option for a Suite license as a license type. The types are the same
ones that have been in place since AR System / ITSM 7.0.0x - Incident, Problem,
Asset, etc...

Think of Suites more like purchasing the off road package for a car. It
comes with brushguards, mudflaps, rubber floor mats and knobby tires. There's
not an actual physical item called an off road package... it is a sales
bundle of other items.

The ITSM Suite is a selling model, not a license type. So no - you will
not see an option for a Suite license as a license type. The types are
the same ones that have been in place since AR System / ITSM 7.0.0x -
Incident, Problem, Asset, etc...

Think of Suites more like purchasing the off road package for a car.
It comes with brushguards, mudflaps, rubber floor mats and knobby tires.
There's not an actual physical item called an off road package... it
is a sales bundle of other items.

I'm wondering if I am missing something. When I did my install I found
that I was missing some items from the Licensing schema. A really
important part... The license types for Incident.

Is there a specific license option for a Suite License that somehow did
not make it in the install?

Thank goodness for templates. If I had to create 300 users with 24
License Options each, I would kill myself.

Re: 911: Modifying the Prioritization in ITSM

You will probably need to re-define (or evaluate anyway) all of the weight
ranges and values for the different combinations, to allow your new Imp/Urg to
calculate to the Priority you require.

 Hi,

 Global OOB ITSM configuration is:

 Impact: Minor/Localized (weight =0)
 Urgency: Critical (weight = 20)
 Priority = Low (weight = 20)

I have a request from the team to modify the priority to Medium when:
the impact = minor/localized and the urgency =critical.

Incorrect Server Reference - Disaster Recovery Testing

2011-04-04 Thread Raj
Hello All,
I am performing disaster recovery testing of our remedy servers.
We have 2 servers, server 2 is a disaster recovery server and server
1 is the main production server.
database 2 is a clone of database 1. I have adjusted server name
references on server 2 in the ar.conf, armonitor.conf, and arsystem
files. Server 2 is pointed to its proper database 2.
However, when I start server 2 and try to do a search or open any
existing record, it is pulling up info from server1 and at the end it
throws out an (ARERR 90) and mentions Server 1' name.

Can anyone point out what server name reference(s) I am still
missing? Is there another file, or some data reference in the
database?
Thanks,
Raj

Re: Incorrect Server Reference - Disaster Recovery Testing

2011-04-04 Thread Axton
If the IP-Name parameters were not properly configured when developing
workflow (i.e., the name you used to log into the server did not match
either Server-Name or an IP-Name entry in ar.conf) the workflow will contain
static references to the server name used to log in when developing the
workflow. This can apply to set fields, push fields, table fields, menus,
etc. and is stored in your workflow definitions. The easiest way to explain
to find them is to export a def and search the def for all the possible
variants of the server name. That will tell you what workflow you need to
update.

Hello Fellow Listers.

We are trying to up upgrade our Mid-Tier server from the original release
of 7.1 to 7.1 patch 9. We are stumped as to why we are getting the
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.

We have tried everything we can think of. We upgraded the memory on the
server to 12 gb, per BMC support recommendation.
We set the java heap as follows: D:\Program
Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_14\bin\java -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -classpath
We tried to go beyond 1024m but the java would not run or the ServletExec
would not recognize it, not sure which was the case.

We are stumped here. Submitted a ticket with BMC Support and they are
offering no help at all. In fact, they stated the following: ServletExec has
been discontinued by New Atlanta, and we provide no longer support for this
product...

Great reply from BMC support, just great. They recommend we remove it and
go to Tomcat. We wish we had the option but we don't. We are moving to new
servers and we will have the option to go with Tomcat but that is 9 to 12
months away, at the earliest. So can anyone tell me what else we can do or try
