Thanks for the replies guys.

This does not happen too often (once every few months) but on this occasion it 
was twice in the same day. Unfortunately turning on the logs was not an option 
as the hammering was finished by the time I was made aware. 
But I will have a look at the forms mentioned to see if I can identify the 
root.  FYI - We are on 8.1 currently but moving to 9.1 soon.  
It was a long shot but I was hoping there was an audit form that recorded 
reports/searches in an easy way.

If your on v9.x. you can enable the Exeption Logging, and/or you can use
the the Always on Logging to dump the logs to file. Those method may give
you a clue.

Hi,

Or you can just turn on API-logging. This will not show you which report is 
bogging down the system directly, but it will show which users that do.

Unfortunately this needs to be turned on in advance...

I might look at UserSearchPreferences. This shows you queries that have
been created and if BIRT, you can use the JobQueue form?
