Thank you all for your suggestions. After using them, I still was not able
to
make the AR User floating working for my users. I then did what Remedy
support suggested (restart Remedy service), and it worked. I then talked to
them to see why this has happened, to see what the root cause of the problem
might be. Basically, they said they have seen this before and it could be
due
to various reasons, such as, cache problems. Anyway, I asked them to send me
something in writing, and hopefully, I'll receive that email soon.

Again, thanks for everyone's involvement.

Additionally, try logging into only that server with your admin tool. If you
receive the standard message stating:

This version of the Action Request System(R) is ready for use or evaluation
without purchasing or activiating an authorization key. For unlimited
capabilities, contact your sales representative or visit www.remedy.com.
(ARERR 2877) server name

If you receive the above error message, then something is wrong with your AR
Server license (probably the MAC address/Host ID).

No, the Read(floating) license stays with that user. The user can search but
cannot save or modify any ticket.

Thanks Roger, but we are well below the number of Floating licenses
available. Everyone that has an AR User floating licensing are experiencing
this problem, not just a few. I have also tried what you suggested in
releasing every floating user. However, when they log back in and receive an
AR User floating, they still get the Read (floating).

Btw, we're ARS 7.1.

in they are provided a Read(floating) license, when they save the system
queries the floating licenses to determine if a write license is available.
The problem you are encountering could be associated to Floating write
licenses not being released. Do a license count if this occurs again to see
how many floating licenses are being used.

Otherwise, do you have any other thoughts?

I have encountered similar problems with a client that was caused by the user
cache and we had to do the same thing. They were still in the testing mode and
only one user encountered the issue.
