 Hi Tristan,
This is exactly how it works in version 5. When you import in place
a form, all data is deleted.

 Rogerio

Its only after version 6.3 I think that the import of definitions to replace a
form preserves data. Prior to that it deletes the form and data and creates a
new form.

Hi,

It was in 6.0 that the ARImport-functionality was changed.

Prior to version 6.0 servers I used ARImport() to quickly clear all
records in a form befor importing data with RRR|Chive.

Re: Strange behavior in Remedy 5

2010-07-27 Thread Ars Lister
Tristan,

Your best bet would be to see if your DBA can rollback your test environment to
before you did the import.  Once they do that, do an export of ALL data that
sits on any form that you are going to import.  The DBA can also do a snapshot
of the app from their end, but depending on what type of changes you made on
the form(s), that can be sticky.

Once you've exported all of the data (do a .csv or .arx report with all fields,
including flds you can't see), then import the new form.  It will drop all
data.  But you use ARImport to map all of the fields in your report to all of
the existing fields on the new form.  Just do a map all and make a note of
anything left over so you can figure out if you need the data to those fields
later.   Then let the Import rip!

Hope that helps.

KP
