It's complicated? No more so then Asterisk.

We use, it was quite straight forward to set up and the audio quality
over it is quite good.

Just another OpenVPN data point, and not Asterisk related but here
goes. I run 15 users over a DSL link on one end and a Internet T1 on
the other with OpenVPN and it just rocks. The road warrior setup is
down to running one script to create a file, email file to user and the
user run one script.

It has been rock solid for me.

Remember the big lie with Verizon is not The tech will be there at
noon. It is Your FOC (Firm Order Commit) date is xxx The dates they
give are neither Firm or Committed. Just ask them.

As long as you remember, they are the Phone Company and you are just the
customer. no body will be disapointed.

Had an appointment for these schmoes to come out and install another
line. Was supposed to be 8-12. Its now 6PM and not even call.

Missed

3 sales calls waiting on these jerks.

No wonder customers were jumping ship to Vonage.

[asterisk-users] Dell hardware ...

2006-09-11 Thread Alan Bunch
I was going to use a Dell 1425 for Asterisk build but I see on Digium's
website that hardware may be problematic. Can anyone shed a litle more
light on the problem. I see the Intel ethernet cards seem to cause
problems. If I need to disable the onboard Intel on the Dell hardware I
can I just need to know what to expect.

How about the 850, any word there ?

[Asterisk-Users] Covad anyone ...

2006-02-27 Thread Alan Bunch
Has anyone done any integration work with Covad's hosted solution ? I
am considering Covad's hosted solution and want to be able to use
Asterisk to develop some other apps. Anyone else tried this ? how did
Covad react. I know they use MGCP.

Another thing, the Cisco reseller rep tells me if I have a bunch of
7960's setup for MGCP (for use with Covad) I will need to get these
phone hooked up to a Call Manager system to get them to load a SIP image
for the first time. That doesn't fit with anything I have been reading
from Cisco and other places. Any truth to that ?

[Asterisk-Users] Pinging ...

2005-09-21 Thread Alan Bunch
Ok, if I missed something in the wiki please point me there with the
correct search terms.

Asterisk 1.0.7 (AAH really)

4 co lines from Bellsouth into a Diguim T400P.

Polycom 501 x 4 on the desktops.

My problem is on calls to or from the CO I hear a pinging (thing sonar
ping in a submarine) every 12 seconds. You can set your watch to it.
COuld this be a call recording in progress tone. I have not made any
effort to turn on call recording. If it is I'll go figure out how to
turn it off. Could this be echo cancelation retraining Am I just
u8nder dosing on my morning meds ?

Any guesses from anyone here. I just want the pinging to stop.

One more thing, this machine is remotely managed and is in a distant
city. If I really have to go I can.

Thank in advance

Re: [Asterisk-Users] AstriCon 2006 Location

2005-09-19 Thread Alan Bunch
Louisville would be great for me. I'd get home to see the folks. Lots
to do in Louisville, very reasonably priced.

Dallas REALLY works for me, I'm already here. Dallas is not the cheapest
to fly in and out of but there are LOTS of flights.

Vegas, been there, done that. Had a good time, but it's still expensive
to do most things outside the hotel. The Hover dam trip is nice but I've
seen that. Show tickets are $50 (low end show) to $125 (something youd
want to see). For me that's expensive.

Just my 10 cents worth ( that would be two cents + inflation + my
handling fee 8-) )

Its drivable from Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Tennesee, and a short

[Asterisk-Users] Dell 2850 anyone ...

2005-08-25 Thread Alan Bunch

Can anyone comment or share experences with using Dell 2850's with Asterisk.

Proposed config is 2850, 2 x 3.6g procs, 2 g's of ram, 4 x 36g 15k rpm
drives raid 10, Digium TE411P ( the echo cancelling cards ).

Expected load is 1 or 2 pri's (most likely 1 ) 100 Polycom phones on the
local network, 15 phone on a remote T1. 6 phone remote via the internet
using IAX, Voicemail for 125 users. As little transcoding as
possible. G.729 licenses.

If Dell is not the answer how about sharing what works. I do need a
natinal brand that I can take to managment.
