Re: [asterisk-users] Directory too difficult?
I wouldn't swear to it (chuckle) but each time I've spoken with the Verizon Telecommunications IVR, it sends me to an agent shortly after I start swearing at it. I've had better luck with that than saying things like agent, operator, and attendant. Other than that, it appears to be a rather nice IVR, and it usually understands me. I got a demo of Mitel's speech platform last year and it has algorithms that measure apparent stress in a voice. If the voice sounds to stressed, it transfers to an operator. -Original Message- From: Chris Bagnall [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:38 PM To: 'Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion' Subject: RE: [asterisk-users] Directory too difficult? the change of Telus' (the ILEC) customer service system entirely to speech recognition. Jonathan k. What all phones does that apply to? I'm fairly certain it applies to the Polycom phones I've read about, but I'm not sure about others. I'm obviously a newbie to the field as well (well, at least to the physical phones). ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Re: [Asterisk-Users] Newbie Question: Building anAsterisk systemtoreplace an old PBX but using existing phone
You write out a dialplan, then when you match a pattern in the dial plan, the Polycom will initiate the call immediately. This way you can have 4 digit internal extensions dial immediately, or have it wait for a long distance or international number. Ah... OK. Sounds like it's similiar to the 3Com VOIP Phones I've worked with then... they just relied on a dialplan to tell them when to complete the call. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Re: [Asterisk-Users] Users handbook
I'm planning on implementing an Asterisk system at a couple of small offices, and a couple of homes, in the near future... and I don't have any documentation yet. What you're suggesting sounds wonderful, to me. I would contribute, if I had anything... but making it an inclusive manual would be a good idea, I think... you can always edit/remove sections. :) Andrew M Stemen [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.andrewmstemen.com Chris Mason (Lists) wrote: Mark Phillips wrote: This is somewhat unique to the site installation. For example, I don't have *69 programmed at my site because frankly there's no need for it with the Cisco 7960's. I do however have an automatic conference booking utility and a speaking clock. Not often found in smaller sites. I think you are on your own here. If one is implementing an Asterisk solution in an office scenario, it has to have fairly similar features to another Asterisk installation. It's easy enough to edit and remove the parts that are different. What I am suggesting is a comprehensive Here's everything Asterisk can do out of the box document, change or remove what doesn't apply. Let me know if any of you want to pool the work we have already done, I will compile to a complete document and post on the wiki. ___ Asterisk-Users mailing list Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
Re: [Asterisk-Users] Visual ring notification
I had the same problem in a welding lab. I did this on a 3Com NBX, but I'm sure that the same idea would apply to Asterisk: I went to RadioShack, and bought one of their visual ringers, for the hearing impaired (basically flashes a white strobe light, and sounds a really loud ringer), and attached it to an ATA adapter. Then I created a flat call group, and reassigned its number to what the single phone's extension used to be. That way, whenever anyone would dial that extension, the strobe would activate and the louder ringer would sound, in addition to the telephone.
